Room designs were original and quirky. Our room faced a street which was quite noisy in the morning as traffic built up. However, not a major problem. |

The room (Russian Bride) was gorgeous, large and luxurious, we could not fault it. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and would definately go back and recommend to friends and family. |

What a lovely place to stay - a hidden gem! Excellent food, very special rooms, friendly and helpful staff - what is not to like? We (my daughter and I) stayed in the Edwardian Express room and it suited us to a tee! It is perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it - 5* quality. Will definitely be stopping here again. nothing at all. |

Stayed in scifi room which had hottub - very enjoyable relaxing outside. Room decor was great surprise and very fun. Mini bar prices - very reasonable. Bedroom extremely comfortable. Great location for seeing Durham sights |

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my fiance's 30th birthday (he's a film buff so I couldn't resist The Premiere Room, a room themed around the cinema complete with a dvd player, projector, big screen and surround sound). The staff were excellent, our hot tub had broken down so they also gave us the use of the neighbouring room (Le Jardin) free of charge; this was also beautifully designed and had a gorgeous terrace outside with a lovely hot tub and great views over the river. They also helped make the surprise that little more special by putting up banners and balloons for us. Although expensive, you get what you pay for, and the finishing touches and great customer service set this hotel apart from any other I have stayed in before. |

Quirky themed rooms very different,but clean.Staff pleasant and helpful,food good quality and value for money, the breakfast in particular. The room was small although well equipt, the size of the armchair and table allowed little space to move. |

the hot tub was amazing! rooms amazingly designed. i paid 105 pound which i thought was great however i think 250 pound is a little expensive! we went for our anniversary and it was a great night. so different from anything i have experienced before! breakfast was perfect! having to pay 80p per hour for parking! also just a little point projector screen doesnt play blueray dvds but this certainly didnt ruin the night as there was plenty to choose from in the room |

Great reception by interested and helpful staff. A real feelgood factor when you enter the place and a very comfortable room with all that would be expected for the price. I enjoyed myself here and will be returning. Just a tad over-priced. |

We stayed in the New York room (although we had originally booked the Premiere- which wasnt available). Nevertheless the girl at the reception offered as the choice of Cruella, Sci-fi or New York instead. We went for the latter and we could also use the hot tub in the Sci-fi-so we werent disappointed at all. The room was more like an apartment, with full kitchen facilities! There was no toothpaste in the bathroom and there was none available to purchase at the reception |

Each bedroom in the hotel has a different theme, ours was 'The Cruise'. The fixture and fittings are all of high quality and the room itself was spotless. The staff are friendly and efficient. We only had breakfast in the hotel but it was excellent. On refelection I wish we had had dinner there because where we did eat ( Italian on Elvet bridge ) was absolutely dreadful. The room, though beautifully furnished, had too many things in it for its size. I could imagine parking could be a problem since there is no on site parking available. We managed to park at the 'pay and display' in the same street but if you couldn't find a place you might have a bit of a trek. |

The imaginative decor in themed rooms was very good, and offered a very good standard of facilities. On street metered parking was easy to access and reasonble in price. The breakfast was very good indeed. We asked to look at some other themed rooms, and the staff very helpfully allowed us to look around - for a special occasion I'd recommend some of the larger rooms. We stayed on sunday and monday evenings, and although we knew the restaurant would be closed (shame), did not expect that the bar was closed as well, even when we asked, we were directed to a pub 3 doors away. This meant that we were not staying in a hotel but a B&B, which then makes it very pricey. |

Very quirky hotel, and no expense had been spared on the rooms. Our room (The Cruise) was on the small side, but they had packed so many fantastic pieces of furniture into it ... Lovely bathroom. Dinner was excellent. We were given a tour of all the rooms the following day, which was interesting. Some noise (airconditioning units?) outside our room (The Cruise) throughout the night, and the blinds were not very efficient (they didn't keep the light out after 6.00 am) |
