Excellent central accommodation .. Beautiful room .. Lovely extras ... Fantastic sole use of hot tub... Beautiful bathroom and amazing power shower. Comfortable bed with quality clean bedding .. Excellent food and drinks ..
Staff at breakfast inexperienced !!! A smile here and there too would have made a difference. A better hair dryer in the room ...
Each room had a theme which we liked. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice. Didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but the menu seemed good.
The only problem is the parking, having to feed the parking meter but it's clear on the booking form that this is the case, so it was expected.
Gorgeous hotel in a great location, room was fantastic & staff were very pleasant. Would definitely stay again/recommend.
Only slight negative is that although the terrace for the hot tub is a private terrace it is overlooked by 3 windows so it is not entirely private
One of the receptionists was extremely welcoming and very helpful( don't know her name but she has a relative in Morpeth).Food good and reasonably priced.Great decor with themed rooms-a breath of fresh air from the bland ,corporate look of so many chain hotels now.
Ringing in advance of arriving (due to changes in circumstance) these guys couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. When we did finally arrive, the welcome was wonderful - this set the tone for an amazingly hospitable stay. The room (Ruby) was just as described; a lovely mixture of opulence, style and comfort. Even with incredibly warm evenings, at the height of summer, the aircon unit was up to the task. We ate in the restaurant first night, enjoyed it so much, we ate there a second night - good food with a sufficient variety of wines to suit courses. Breakfast, maybe a little slow on service, but freshly cooked local produce, fresh fruit, pastries - set us up for the day - perfect. So, in order of excellence - staff friendliness, comfort, food, wine, location - in fact, it's difficult to say which was better.
There were builders next door when we sat outside for afternoon tea and strawberries . . .nothing to do with the hotel, so moot as to whether this is relevant
Me and the hubby stayed in the Edwardian express. The 2 receptionists that were there during our stay were lovely. Our morning breakfast was fab!!!! 10/10. The lady who served us was so warming and welcoming, She called us angel all the time, did not catch her name but all in all the stay we had was fab!!!
The bed was really creaky and kept me awake all night nearly, as every time me or the hubby moved the wood would creak. Also it's not good if your on the tall side like me, and like to sleep with legs straight lol, that's the only bad point I had
pillows were lumpy! arrived for breakfast at 9.30 and felt our full English breakfast had been cooked an hour before, had to ask for our eggs and bacon to be redone!!
we had a garden room , which was very peaceful, and a hot tub ! we had a very good dinner in the restaurant, Very easy to walk into the sights in the city centre, good location
the breakfast was a bit of a let down , a packet of Alpen let down the decadent style of Gadds town house, We would have liked a pot of tea , rather than a tea bag each
The breakfast was really nice and the location was ideal.
The sheets were stained and had slight tears in them. (Amytheist room).
Nice decor, excellent location.
In the le Jardin lodge we stayed in with the hot tub there was no fridge in the room to keep a cold drink which I think totally let's this down from being an excellent place, also the air con in the hotel is a bit dated
The hotel was easily found, the staff were very nice and the room was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed.
The food was a bit of a let down. We both had steak and it was a tad on the very tough side. The breakfast was a real disappointment. Not sure what are exactly in Durham sausages but far too spicy first thing in the morning.
Good location and decor
Room very small and hot Breakfast not great Expensive for what you get
The look of the hotel
The staff were simply not up to the job, we were not briefed about the room features when shown our room, the cleaning staff kept the noisy and smelly washing machine room door open all the time that we had to pass on the way to our room; the breakfast staff were less than helpful, felt like the hotel was being run by students doing Saturday jobs.
Ideal location and friendly staff
Great place to stay. Friendly welcoming staff.
Little bit dusty
Just book it
Beautiful room! We stayed in Indigo for our wedding night and it was fantastic. So lavish, bed was comfortable and bathroom was great. Breakfast was superb and the staff very helpful and welcoming. (We were able to drop our bags off the day before our wedding, which was one less thing to worry about!) Have recommended to all and would love to stay again!
The breakfast, the atmosphere in Durham during the regatta weekend and the hospitality at Gadds
everything was superb, just what you would expect from a 5* hotel.
just a minor thing, no free parking facilities or concessions for hotel guests or employees.
The food was excellent.
The location was good and car parking was available over the road.
Our room was very small and not well appointed the basin in the bathroom was tiny and there was nowhere to put anything. Not good for a woman!
Staff and room.
food was fab
value for money was poor room wise
Lovely rooms, good bar and an excellent breakfast.
