Stylish and comfortable, excellent service At a minimum £37set-price, the restaurant was far too expensive for a casual business traveller. A plain, simple (and still expensive) ham sandwich was reluctantly provided in the bar. The lack of a sensibly- affordable food option spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay and means that I'm unlikely to stay there again

Great food, friendly staff, nice location. A bit tired, needs refreshing. Our room was above the kitchen and the staff thought it would be good to play loud music whilst working in the kitchen. This was more or less resolved after speaking to the receptionist.

Very comfortable, bright, airy room. Dinner was really outstanding. Breakfast was excellent too. The gardens and grounds of the hotel are another big bonus (with the walled vegetable gardens, chickens, geese, pigs and the Dexter cattle).

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. in very comfortable surroundings and excellent food. Our stay was in conjunction with a session at the Fallowfields Falconry and that was a very good combination. It was rather a long way in the country for a general stay.

A hotel full of character. The location is pleasant, the rooms tasteful and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. A lovely place to stop. The menu on site is very expensive but the food may be very good for the price so that may be an unfair criticism. There is a local pub nearby where you can get food at a more reasonable price.

We had a relaxed stay, great to see they are trying to be self sufficient, locally sourced food. Lovely grounds with veg garden, cows, pigs, lovely food and attentive staff.

the friendliness of everyone, the lovely room and fine meal in the restaurant. The freedom to roam the grounds and farm and the excellent cream tea. I felt that the cooked breakfast let them down. Although most of the ingredients are home grown, the fried breakfast was (i am quite sure) cooked earlier and microwaved when ordered, but having scrambled egg the second day solved this problem.

It is simply a wonderful hotel. Extremely friendly staff, peaceful surroundings and my room was absolutely gorgeous! My bed was one of the most comfortable beds I ever slept in (I travel a lot and therefore have experienced the best and the worst), bathroom was very spacious with a bath and separate shower. I really liked small but important touches in this hotel like a wicker chair in the bathroom... Breakfast was cooked to order, all ingredients either come from the grounds of this lovely hotel or sourced locally. Portions are very genorous and tasted divine. I would most definitely return! Wine list is very limited.

The concentration on home produce was good and the afternoon tea scones were excellent! The lack of overnight staff in situ meant that the cat causing the telephone to ring for half an hour at 6 in the morning, in the room next to ours was not dealt with. We had to fix the problem ourselves as their was no reception cover to address.

Beautiful setting, wonderful ethos of self-sufficiency, with a great guided walk through the kitchen gardens, orchards, paddocks and pond. Delightful to see piglets running around the grounds, amongst the cattle and wildlife. We stayed in one of the larger rooms, which had a great double aspect with views out over the countryside. Staff were charming and any issues where swiftly addressed. Breakfast was high-quality and offered wide choice option of cooked options and more continental breakfast choices. We got excellent value, although didn't pay the full rate and were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness. We didn't have dinner at the hotel although menu looked good and despite being on the expensive side it's on a par with similar restaurants in the area. We paid a late booking rate which was well below the standard room rate. For what we paid, it was good value but for a country house hotel that has 'luxury' rooms, cleanliness let it down. Stains on carpets which had been cleaned but without complete success; paint showing signs of wear and tear; shower hose with remains of mould; chipped sink. All very minor but of its class, I'd expect better. Only one bath towel was provided, although this was swiftly remedied after a phone call to reception. Road noise was audible, it didn't bother us but it's worth noting if you're expecting country house in the middle of nowhere. Overall its a gem - just needs attention to a few details to really deliver up to its claims.
