Score from 193 reviews Very good
Very nice breakfast and dinner.
the size of rooms, response to our request for my elderly father, space to .chill out. in the lounge, friendly helpful staff
nothing to report
Very clean good food and nice rooms
Very expensive 165 for a room for the night we booked for a wedding but the hotel didn't offer a discount even when we said we were with the party
what a wonderful hotel and the grounds well looked after and nice for a stroll around. also ideally situated for a b us or train into preston . .thanks to the staff for the welcome
Staff good, hotel clean, pleasant grounds
It was VERY hot and the windows didn't open very far and there was no air conditioning. However we were given a fan when we raised this with the hotel.
Very attentive staff. Lovely room amd bathroom. Nice grounds and peacefull.
staff very welcoming, excellent service - asked for a room fan and brought to room within 2 mins, breakfast was good and service excellent good location nice & quiet overall good value for money
room too warm, no air conditioning in bedrooms yet had it in public areas.
Food has always been good and this visit was no exception. Dinner was excellent (top marks to the Chef) and breakfast good and well presented. Very spacious comfortable room with well appointed bathroom. Bed was extremely comfortable..
Pleasant staff always there to look after your needs. Lovely big rooms with ample space and a decent size tv. Quiet atmosphere allowing me to work even in the bar area. Lovely grounds and away from any road noise but still close enough to the M6.
Small shower cubicles
We loved the service. We got totally spoilt!!
Very cheerful and obliging staff who were very happy to help at any opportunity. Lovely old hotel in nice grounds for little (if any) more than a soulless budget euro-box.

The large flood lights outside the bedroom windows (room 8) was completely unnecessary. You could read a book by the light let in through the blind and curtain. Why have flood lights pointing down onto bedroom windows - the idea is to sleep at night... in the dark. The bathroom and bedroom doors did not latch closed. The bathroom door particularly was annoying as it let light through from the court yard. Very disappointing and not a lot of sleep thanks to the above.
Friendly staff, general high standard of cleanliness, just one marked carpet in passageway
The bedroom size and the building itself.
Rather hard bed, cold room(although a fan heater was provided)Inexperienced waiters who needed more training.(we were at a Wedding breakfast.
Comfortable and clean
The room was comfortable and a large well equipped shower room. Dinner was good
The bar area was small, breakfast was not the best just one egg, one sausage, one rasher and an uncooked tomato not what I expected for the price
booked an executive room which was overpriced. basic and not clean
The grounds are magnificent, as is the building.
The rooms aren't particularly well decorated or furnished. Felt a bit empty and dingy. Smelt of cigarettes. The breakfast buffet was poor (stuff missing or run out) although the cooked breakfast was ok. It all felt just a bit...meh.
room was great
Nice big comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff
Lack of leisure facilities
I liked the feeling of walking into a old fashioned english country manor.
Good check in ,plenty of parking, nice big room, comfy bed, spotless bathroom, decent bar meal, good. Breakfast
very impressed with the staff who were friendly and efficient. They made our stay especially enjoyable.Nothing was too much trouble. After enjoying a delicious vanilla latte Alison went to the trouble of explaining how she made it!
The complementary room upgrade as I was leaving too early to have breakfast.
No remote in room.. apparenly you have to ask.
