Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.

Very touristy not quite what we’d expected restaurants we sampled not as good as on the highlands NC500 so for us I wouldn’t do Skye in favour of the Highlands I’d spend longer on the NC500 west side.

A beautiful highlands town.
A beautiful highlands town. Dinner reservations can be a bit of a challenge, however, you are on vacation typically and need to be patient. The food is definitely worth it - I stayed 4 nights and did not have a bad meal or experience.

Quaint town with harbor views; good base for exploring other areas of Skye; helpful guy runs the bookshop with fishing lures; excellent cullen skink and live music at the converted church restaurant; good Co-op location in center of town; nice hiking loop north of town along coast. Not easy to find parking, a bit overrun with tourists, limited restaurant availability in town.
The view from Cuillin Hills is spectacular. It was truly a joy to pull into the carpark after a long journey to Skye and view Portree Harbour from the front lawn. All of the staff were incredibly warm and friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. Our evening meal was very good (the mussels in particular were delicious) and our room was extremely clean and comfortable, which resulted in 8 hours of deep and relaxing sleep. All in all, Cuillin Hills is a very well-run, guest-focused hotel, in a beautiful island setting. We will return.
Fantastic location, right in the centre of Portree near the harbour and bars/restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable, great to have use of the washing machine (and powder left for us) as we had a few mucky items from our day trips. Spacious double bedroom, corner sofa which pulls out into a large sofa bed. It was perfect for the dogs too as we didn't want to take them to a hotel. It's usually alot more expensive to find dog friendly accommodation but the price for this apartment was very reasonable.
Host Margaret is great. We were getting a bit late for our booked tour activity in the breakfast table, and she dropped us in the town. So gentle and welcoming woman. The property is maintained exceptionally well. Good breakfast with fantastic view of Old man of Storr.
Note: For people using public transport, Portree is 22 mins walk filled with nice views. For arriving, there is a bus stop named Isle of Skye Candles visitor center (stop before Portree square). That stop is mere 5-6 mins walk from the property.
Staff are so friendly always smiling ,happy to help and very welcoming. Food downstairs in The Antlers Restaurant is lovely and helpings are good too
.Right in the central square of Portree with shops ,chemist ,pubs, cafes ,coffee shops, post office local buses, tour buses ,taxis etc just right out the front door of the hotel or a few minutes walk If you.
*Advise you to reserve your Dinner Table when making your booking .The restaurant is popular with Islanders and Holiday makers so it can be busy.
The host were very friendly & welcoming. Our room was small but the beds & pillows were so comfortable we slept well. The breakfast was amazing so much choice & really delicious. You could easily walk into the Portree township 5 mins, there’s lots of restaurants & hotels to choose from for dinner or lunch.. But you do need to book in advance.
I would highly recommend Meadowbank guest house if staying in Portree.
Marmalade was overall very nice, clean and cosy.
The staffs were all lovely and we would like to give special thanks to Susan at the night shift.
Susan was very helpful to our requirements. And even wrote us day trip routes recommendations!
Overall recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Isle of Skye and we would love to visit again.
Thank you Rachel and Stuart for our stay, everything was perfect! Great cozy hotel, with an amazing view on the harbour. Close to all the restaurants and Portree must see. We went there for my friend birthday and Rachel and Stuart were kind enough to organise a welcome surprise to my friend. Thank you, we will come back 🏴💙🤍
Location is amazing and the views from the room where espectacular.
It is of walking distance from the town centre because Portree is small and everything is in within reach by walking distance: harbour, restaurants, hotels and bars.
Duvets are warm, you get 2 pillows per bed and matresses were comfortable enough to get a good rest.
Very close to Portree and many other activities on Skye. Hosts were very helpful in recommending outdoor activities that we may not have found without their input. Kitchen was well furnished and had all the things we needed to make meals, and on-site laundry was great for getting all our clothes washed mid-trip.
This is an amazing gem nestled in the Skye hills, It is a short drive to Fairy Glen and Portree. The rooms are very nicely furnished along with a very comfortable bed with quality linens and towels. The attention to detail is what sets this place a jewel above other Bed and Breakfasts.
Well stocked continental breakfast buffet, staff attentive.Ordered breakfast was of good size and hot.
Reception always happy to help and we managed to get parked in the small hotel car park which was a huge relief with Portree being so busy.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Isle of Skye camping pods. The space was a lot more spacious than I expected, and the toilet was a luxury for a camping pod. The grounds were clean, and the night time was extremely peaceful and pleasant.
Great location. Large house that is well stocked with most everything you need. Great showers/baths. Very modern but comfy. Easy walk to downtown Portree, and easy drive to the major Skye sights, or just to get groceries.
Excellent location in Portree, within a short walk to grocery store, town square, and the entire downtown area. Also walkable to the main bus stop downtown, which you can use to catch a bus to other areas of Skye.
We loved staying in the Portree Hotel! Our room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and kind, and the food was delicious! We would definitely stay here again!
Portree was the best location on our trip through all of Scotland. We had the best hikes imaginable.
The hotel offered the best location for overall access to the city as well as on site parking.
Was handy for walking into portree, The Decor and looked as if just done up over last couple of years. Staff were lovely and friendly and fell in love with the hotel cat
