Good buzzy atmosphere. Excellent food- evening meals and breakfast. Value for money.
Lack of residents' sitting area- residents' area in reception was too often reserved for people coming in for meals, resulting in nowhere for residents to relax.
Excellent food and really nice atmosphere. Shouldn't have eaten both nights but it was so good with lots of pleasant people. Fantastic walks and the view from the car park north was worth painting.
Room was out of the seventies but then at £35 a night? Could do with a couple less rooms and making them en suit.
the food and staff were excellent
Charming, comfortable, great food...good hearty full English breakfast with cereal if you wished and evening meal was very good in restaurant, reasonably priced. Better quality food than your average pub classics, lots of locals regulars and visitors enjoy the food here. Low door ways and sloping beamed rooms add to the charm.
We stayed at the farmers arms for 2 nights, the place itself is very nice old but in very good condition, I love old places anyway. Our first night we just ate in the restaurant and the food is to die for. I had the lamb and my husband had the steak. Both were absolutely divine, we were both so stuffed that neither of us could eat the next day till 1.00 in the afternoon, highly recommend to stay here or just go for a meal very high quality and high praise to there chef never tasted lamb like that in my life. Defiantly worth another visit even if it's just for a meal.
There was nothing about the farmers arms not to like.
lovely country Pub, very attentive staff and great food. everything you would wish for when staying away from home.
The water pressure in the shower was extremely lacking.
The friendliness and patience of the staff. Good food at very reasonable prices. Huge portions. Clean and comfortable rooms. Beautiful location.
My frail, very elderly mum found the steps of varying heights very difficult to see and climb. It would be helpful if the step edges were highlighted - but we appreciate this is a very old building.
Friendly staff Good food Ample parking
Not suitable for anyone who has walking difficulties
Beautiful view from bedroom window
Too short a stay!
Atmosphere and good menu
Value for money and friendly staff. Only stayed one night and did not dine so can only comment on room. Room was clean and tidy.
Shared bathroom ( I knew this beforehand however) room needed a little updating , shaving light cracked which I read in a previous review also main light did not work and plug sockets were loose
What a find in a beautiful part of the country! Form the minute we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our room, which was very cosy and clean. The bar man was extremely friendly and made suggestions on where we might like to visit the next day. Food was delicious and huge size portions. Good selection of drinks in the bar. Bed was comfortable, a little on the soft size. Breakfast was good, selection of cereal and cooked. Fantastic value for money, would highly recommend
Made very welcome, food nice, value for money
Quirky little pub, great location.
The Chocolate Lumpy Bumpy Pudding - definitely not for slimmers!
Had to wait to be served sometimes. But very good value for money,
We were delighted with our stay. Our room was small but comfortable. It was immaculate and clean. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and all the interesting little seating areas around the place. The staff were all very pleasant too.
We liked it all and would like to return possibly in Wintertime, when we imagine you will have roaring fires there!
Good wholesome pub food.
Good value for money, spacious car park, free internet in reception area, restaurant
Tiny room, somewhat distant from Lakeland activities
Alas I am unable to make a comment about the Farmers Arms, this being due to my car breaking down. I Phoned the Farmers informing them that I was cancelling due to the problems that I had with the car, the Gent that I spoke to was very understanding & even though he was within his rights to take payment for both rooms he only charged for the one. I look forward to visiting the Farmers Arms in the near future, many thanks.
Fluffy white towels; large car park; friendly and helpful staff; free to come and go as you please; and very good meals.
All the staff and owners were really helpful. The food was much better than I expected for the price I paid for the B&B. The food portions were pretty big, I could not manage the main course. Good location for Coniston which I wanted to visit. Lots of parking, easy to spot as on the main road.
Overall very good value for money.
