Fabulous welcoming and friendly staff in a hotel with old world charm set in beautiful surroundings. Good varied, great value menu for a very nice dining experience. Very well presented room and comfy bed and the only disturbance was an owl hooting at 3am, absolutely fantastic!
Free wi-fi in the communal area but not in the room!
The staff were helpful and friendly. Location was good and room was clean and tidy. The bed in my room was very soft
The restaurant, dinner and breakfast was very average.
Very welcoming and excellent service. We were travelling with 2 dogs and had no problems , they were well received.
Great ground floor room with plenty of space but we had to have a window open as it was warm and the Hotel had a wedding the following day with guests arriving in the early hours. The parking area is gravel which makes it noisy for cars . Bit disturbing but did not ruin our stay.
Balcony and view from our room! Beautiful gardens! Staff were friendly!
Over priced, poor quality of food and drink
Noisy machinery outside.
Staff were excellent. Well presented and friendly.
Food in the oak room was of poor standard. Gammon was actually a slice of ham. Chocolate brownie was rock hard with no chocolate sauce. For this reason we only had dinner once in house and did not risk the breakfasts.
pillow and bed too soft, but ok for one night.
The room ! Staff were friendly !
The bar ! Not a lot of selection of drinks ! Not a lot of choice on the menu's ! WiFi free only in public area's !
friendly staff nice surroundings
over priced, very poor breakfast
Didn't really like anything
Breakfast tasted like fat , only one person cooking and serving for the money we paid it was a rip off, not happy
very friendly staff lovely breakfast
Very helpful staff and well maintained rooms. Good breakfast.
Need to provide fans as no air conditioning.
I liked the atmosphere of old english house and lovely gardens in secluded setting.
The shower needed updating.
Kept awake for 3 hours from 11 until 2am, lots of banging and loud noises. Staff said they'd look into it but didn't offer discount or compensation.
Clean, efficient room, best feature being the balcony that came with our upgraded executive double. We stayed only one night between travelling, so have small experience of the hotel, but have no complaints. Great country surroundings for a just out of town location
excellent location extremely friendly and helpful staff beautiful building set in spacious grounds Good bar with excellent bar snack - had a late night sandwich with granary bread and real ham and a choice of tea
rooms very small and basic - overpriced at £94 per night room only - not value for money bathroom impractically small - no space to put toiletries breakfast was really disappointing - at room price expected better- basic cereal - no fresh fruit or yoghurt, only canned apricots, cooked breakfast was anaemic ( sausages looked raw) and pre-cooked and kept warm in trays over oil burne. Tea & coffee premade and in insulated pots - i like a fresh pot of Earl Grey! I would have preferred a choice of freshly made tea/coffee - a wider choice of cereal/fresh fruit/ yoghurt etc and freshly cooked breakfast
Friendly staff Pleasant surroundings
Unfortunate coincidence. We had hoped for a peaceful family get together the day before daughter's wedding, only to find that there was a wedding taking place. We felt intrusive, but the bigger problem was the children running unsupervised up and down the corridors, loud conversations in adjoining bedrooms which kept us awake: a pair of teenagers snogging noisily outside one couple's room at 1.00 am! The staff did what they could, but we wouldn't have booked here had we known. The mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable. The bathroom of our first room was very basic: we were moved to another room further away from the wedding party which was better. Very limited pub grub type menu - because of wedding party? However, the food was fine. Tartan carpets a bit overwhelming
Bedroom lighting. There wasn't any!
Staff were very helpful even when I arrived late in the eveing
The radio on at breakfast - though I appreciate it is useful for travel news in the area
Peace and quiet, the grounds and location was lovely
The breakfast could be better, and needed more choices for dinner
Needed more staff in the breakfast area
Banging water pipes. Next rooms TV The dining room AC fridge plant Smell of cooking into our room
Lovely setting, friendly staff.
The toilet was dirty, I doubt it had seen bleach ever! The shower pointed back at the wall and could not be adjusted. There was no full length mirror in the bedroom. The whole hotel needs updating.
Breakfast finishing at 9am
