Clean and reasonably comfortable room and superb breakfast in a lovely room.
The room I was in was next to a room where someone talked very loudly until very late. I did not get enough sleep! And the single bed in this twin room is tiny and very hard.
Hotel was lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Dinning room was beautiful and breakfast was very nice. Would return.
easy parking and friendly staff. very nice breakfast in cosy and comfortable restaurant.
Helpful night porter
Room stank of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room No-one would admit this despite the window being fully open with heating blasting Manager knew I was complaining but did not com down until requested
The DH1 restaurant, attached to the hotel, had some of the best food I've eaten. Breakfasts served in the dining room were also tasty. Farnley Tower's special winter deal made the price very competitive. The hotel is well conserved. The Victorian interiors are very pleasant.
I would have preferred a firmer mattress, but I appreciate that each guest has their own preferences!
No bar facilities. Wifi poor I think the price of £55 reflects the hotel
Dirty bathroom Noise Poorly Signposted Awful Bed Plastic Shower Hose twenty years out of date. Sorry but this is the worst experience I have ever had and I stay in a lot of hotels
We loved it.
If you arrive early and your room is ready, you can check in. No waiting around til 2 p.m. The rooms are warm, comfortable and very clean. The dining room is lovely and the breakfast, brilliant. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is an award winning restaurant attached, although separate to the hotel, with a very small bar if you can't be bothered to go back into the city.......those hills! They're also very generous in allowing you to leave your car in their car park on check out if you're intending to go back into the city. Very helpful.
We had a lovely stay, the place had a lovely feel to it, a great room with a fabulous view, two restful nights sleep, super breakfasts and charming staff. I am sure we will re-visit Durham which will mean re-visiting Farnley Towers too.
Nice big room, quite area.
Towels need replacing as very thin and one towel in 3 days not great.
room was clean and tidy, food was good, location was excellent ,staff friendly
noise from heating kept us awake most of the night
Location. Spectacular view of the cathedral, castle and station through the winter branches from room 12. Parking. Room was clean. Staff helped with luggage and were chatty and helpful.
Basin in the bathroom filled up with water/scum from the waste, despite me putting in the plug. Bathroom needed grouting. Room a bit tired and old fashioned. I did not feel comfortable.Breakfast basic.
The room was nice very spacious. The location was good.
Don't know if the restuarant is part of the hotel. We walked in and asked for a drink my husband ask for a particular drink and the girl said a what not very welcoming at all. The breakfast was ok not enough of it cheap sausage and one piece of bacon, not enough fror men.
Friendly enough & breakfast content was hearty.
Staff appeared flustered a lot of the time. Had to request our towels for our room 2 hours after arrival. Breakfast was chaotic/disorganised, had to request clean cups & napkins as tables hadn't been reset. Double bed was like sitting on a bouncy castle. Pull down bed was smaller than required. Rooms could use an upgrade.
Good location for city centre. Very good breakfast.
Whilst the location was ideal for walking into the city centre going back to the hotel was up quite steep hills.
Staff and location were excellent. Facilities also of a high standard including the breakfast.
I thought the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a great value for the money. My friend and I were very happy with everything about it and would definitely stay there again.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff would definitely recommend it, handy for the town and clean. Liked the ponytail theme the gentlemen were working!
parking facilities breakfast service everything really as above
a bit too far from centre and places we needed on foot and up a bit of a hill but realise parking facilities better as not completely in centre mattress a bit bouncy but definitely not uncomfortable -- my husband kept moving but not really your problem!
A large , comfortable room with a good view. Friendly and polite staff.
Friendly, attentive staff.Good location for foot access to Durham.Free car parking on site.
Poor/non existent WiFi signal, though no real problem for such a short stay.
The hotel is close to the town although up two hills. It is a lovely building with very good views. The bedroom was fairly big. the breakfast was efficiently and quickly served.
Nothing really - room was too hot but this is standard in hotel rooms
