The Corner House Hotel, in the heart of Taunton, is a modernised hotel that has kept its Victorian features. It has free Wi-Fi, a bar, a restaurant and free onsite parking.
Score from 869 reviews Good
This beautiful B&B is 7 miles from Taunton in the tranquil Somerset countryside, yet only 3 miles from the A303 and 5.5 miles from the M5.
Score from 85 reviews Exceptional
Centrally located in the picturesque village of West Coker, Inn the Square offers a restaurant and a cosy bar.
Score from 64 reviews Superb
Conveniently situated off junction 25 of the M5, the Holiday Inn Taunton, is between the cities of Exeter and Bristol and less than an hour away from both.
Score from 288 reviews Very good
We had a wonderful meal in the evening. The whole experience was excellent
Good staff; friendly and helpful. Good location; close to the M5, A303 with access to many beautiful places. Food: very good and the menu changed daily with many ingredients from the garden. I chose the hotel because it was dog-friendly and certainly all the guests I met, seemed to 'enjoy' my dog and this initiated conversation adding to the general ambience of a relaxed and friendly hotel.
I found the over-powering smell of the air fresheners absolutely nauseating. On waking after my first night, I had terrible congestion, sore throat and a headache. Because the weather was good, I was able to leave doors and windows open but that wouldn't be an option in the winter.
Bedroom and dinner menu.
Poor beer (draught bitter) selection.
Pretty well everything - very relaxed and friendly staff, excellent food, unusual old building, quiet and convenient.
In three nights we failed to find anything we did not like!
Would like wifi more available
No wifi in our room
Everything perfect, looking forward to my next stay
Nothing to dislike at all.
Lovely hotel in great location close to Taunton. Room was massive with comfortable bed, little settee, tv, wardrobe, desk and tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast the following morning was good too. Should have stayed longer.
Location Charm Decor Building Gardens Individuality - not like the dull chain hotels Staff
Bed uncomfortable - could feel the springs Feather pillows No ventilation in bathroom No breakfast included
Bedroom, lounge and restaurant, were all really good. Dinner and breakfast were first class. The staff were all courteous and friendly. A lovely little break in the countryside. Just a pity we only had one night.
Nothing at all
Secluded hotel but short distance from main motorway - good nights sleep and evening meal, at a good price.
we considered the breakfast (continental), was a little pricey, for not a lot of choice.
Superb dining with good variety of choices based around very good local ingredients partnered with excellent wine list
Prefer firmer mattesses
Upgraded to an excellent room. Good food.
The food and I had one of the best nights sleep in a really comfortable bed. As a solo traveller I was made welcome and felt at ease.
location staff food very clean
bit serious and stiff
Helpful staff and a lovely location.
A guest turned on the television in the early hours of the Sunday morning keeping us awake. Another guest was constantly pacing up and down in the room above us.
Everyone was so very friendly and looked after me well. The garden was well kept and the peacocks/peahens, dogs and other livestock were well behaved. It was a pleasure to sit out in the garden and relax
Lovely room and atmosphere of the hotel itself, it's a delightful and peaceful place. Helpful staff. It does have wifi, just ask someone for the password and you'll be sorted!
It was a touch pricey with breakfast at £14 a head not included in the booking cost.
My room was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive, manager great, other staff enthusiastic but engagingly inexperienced.
No WiFi coverage in my room, or elsewhere in the hotel that I could find. The evening meal (£35 for three courses) / wine (average £30 a bottle) are very optimistic really for the quality of the meal as presented. A very flowery menu waxing on about local ingredients etc, hens in the garden, pigs at the gate and then, possibly predictably on a Tuesday evening; a tired starter, undercooked (raw) main meat, and then pests in the garnish on the pud. Moving onto breakfast (£6) - continental - it is not continental actually no meats, cheese, rolls..... (its white / brown loaf B&B) and cooked at £14 is parsimonious in the extream - my sausage was grey, sweaty and undercooked and don't get excited by "sausages and eggs" as promised on the menu - as its one egg, one sausage, one tomato, a couple of rashers of unsmoked local bacon, a piece of tasteless pasty home made black pudding and a small portion of mushrooms. Big full fry it is not. I'm sorry to have to write this, but the management has just got the offer wrong - the place is great, front of house staff excellent - but a pretentious overambitious menu (for the number of potential covers - five / six choices of main from lamb to "fresh north atlantic fish!!) matched with expensive wines (good quality though they may be) is not met by the results coming out of the kitchen. If you are paying full price at £150 for one B&B and evening meal, it s not worth it really (I've done 5* in the palm in Dubai for less) - but on a silver surfer "wowcher" at £60 for two of you then its very reasonable, and thats mainly who was there enjoying the bargain. Memo to management from a bloke who has spent 35 years eating and drinking his way around most of the world - please don't carp on in a reply about my comments - I know there is much to commend, but take the point that you are just aiming a little too high on the food / wine side for your boots.
Location, decor, cleanliness.
thought the meals were too expensive. Breakfast should be included in price .
Great room, good breakfast lovely garden. Wished we could have stayed longer.
Wifi not good.
I need a bigger Square! Brilliant setting. Charming staff.Lovely room in the annex clean, well furnished. Comfortable bed.But what I really, really liked was rhe Teapot and real Milk, The burds, especially the Peacock were on there best behaviour andwe thoroughly enjoyed the Quaintness. Lovely.
Only staying one night!
Great little spot, really really nice room, quiet, comfy, quaint.... it was a late find but a great one. Breakfast was good.. I could go on. I only stayed for one day/night but how long do you need?!
Not sure it had wifi but is that that much of an issue?!
Peace & quiet. Birds in back garden
Door locked at 9.30 pm
The hotel was clean, cosy, mand comfortaBLE.
Can't think of anything.
The location - especially the gardens and grounds. Cosy, country house ambience with helpful and pleasant staff.
The continental breakfast was very poor - no ham or cheese or even fresh bread/rolls and croissants. Who wants sliced white bread for breakfast? The service was appalling - we had to keep getting up from the table to ask for items to be replaced and knock on the kitchen door to receive some attention. Hence, we did not stay for breakfast on the second morning. The dinner was pleasant and well-sourced but lacked good presentation and imagination as far as veg was concerned. It was also very pricey, so not really good value.
