Set in a delightful village outside Taunton, Farthings offered every kind of comfort and hospitality, as well as being extremely good value. The food was especially superb. The hotel staff were even prepared to offer me a late cold collation, having been at work on both evenings. My wife and I are definitely going to be returning there when work again takes me back to Somerset! |

On arrival we were greeted with a roaring and welcoming fire in the lounge and by staff who could not have been more attentive. The whole ambience is one of luxury and geared to the guests comfort. A great hotel for anyone wanting to pamper themselves. My one and only complaint would be about the price of the food and drinks which was very high although in truth the standard was at table of the highest to perhaps compensate. Strawberries with my cereal before a full English Breadfast surely is a luxury and where else but the Farthings. As I say I think the prices are too high but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite this. |

I have stayed in Hotels for the past 27 years, and this was the most enjoyable place I've ever stayed. Food is excellent, not cheap, but local produce, cooked at its best. Rooms are good. But above all, service was best ever experienced. Professional yet informal, very friendly. This place ouzes style, and what a hotel should be like; home from home. In this Hotel, both rooms and guests have names, no numbers. Some staff members were the best I had ever met for making you feel at home. After visiting a Hotel like Farthings, the next Hotel you visit wil be a bit of a dissapointment. |

The relaxed atmosphere, the immediate environment with its resident ducks, hens and geese, the pleasant gardens. The breakfast buffet could have been more interesting and it seemed to be a little strange to receive a waitress-served perfectly-cooked breakfast, while making ones own toast. The booking.com price was absolutely fair, but I do not think that the prices charged for accommodation by the hotel itself are reasonable for what is on offer. |

Garden at rear was lovely, like the chickens and ducks round the back too! Fresh milk in the fridge for coffee and tea rather than the UHT ones in a little cup, TV had freeview which it didn't mention. DVD player. Ample parking. Easy acces to M5. Overall look and feel of the place was nice. Caught out on the special rate, you have to buy dinner and breakfast. Handling complaints could have been better, but was eventually resolved. |

Small peaceful country hotel offering excellent standards of accomodation with a personal service. Little extras including fresh milk and fresh fruit were apreciated. The only hiccup on arrival of being shown to a double room instead of a twin room as booked was courteously put right. |

location - a quiet country hotel and very comfortable with good rooms - food though extaordinarily expensive Have stayed at this hotel for more ten years on a fairly regular basis but now do not like new pricing system eg separate prices for a Tuesday and Wednesday night; paying additionally for breakfast etc. Lack of a warm welcome from staff except for waitresses who were very good. |

We stayed in the bay room, which was fantastic! Such a huge room with kingsize bed, t.v, dvd, large bathroom with 'power' shower!!! loved the spiral staircase to get to the bathroom! Hotel staff were brilliant, very friendly. Views from the room were lovely and open! we didnt eat at the hotel, as the prices seemed quite expensive, although it was a good 8mile drive into taunton where we found mcdonalds, pizza places, and lots of little resturants. Overall a fantastic stay, we are hoping to book again soon!!! |

Idyllic front hotel bedroom with balcony. The high quality furnishing of the hotel throughout its setting and gardens. Excellent place. Felt there could have been a better choice for continental breakfast infact the poor choice was out of character with the hotel. The pricing confused us in that we missed noticing a surcharge for not taking the evening meal but this did not spoil our visit and we would gladly visit again. |

Very poor service-constantly asking for butter, milk, cutlery etc at breakfast time-overpriced as well, for what was presented! Our room had the original cobwebs above the windows-hadn't seen a duster in some time! |

the rooms were very nice. location was relaxing and a family run hotel and very friendly there was no where to go and eat other than the hotel.... there menu was over priced at 29 pounds per person so although the room was great value it catches you out with the food!!! |

Idyllic setting, lovely room, good food Very haphazard mealtime service from inexperienced and junior staff. Examples ......1) Chef turned up late for breakfast 2) Waiter service at dinner poor (forgot bread rolls, no butter etc) 3) Similar service at breakfast (asked for things, staff got distracted by other questions then forgot, delay taking orders etc. |

When I booked it was advertised at £32 per night and in the small print to have to qualify for this dinner and breakfast had to be taken, at VERY HIGH costs. This I feel was rather excessive. Other than this it was an excellent choice. |
