Amazing I am planning to go back in the summer for a whole weekend. The beds were comfy. The breakfast service was awesome and the land lord was just brilliant with people. Loved it and loved them. Me and my mum had great stay
very friendly intelligent relaxed
the room was comfy owner was really helpful
it was abit noisy at night so had to speak to ownerwho sorted it promply couldn't find property in dark owners had phones switched off
We stayed for just one night after a wedding reception at Ghyll Manor. As we were travelling some distance prior to the wedding at Southwater we requested a late morning arrival in order to get washed and changed. Nick, the amiable host was happy to oblige. The house is grand and spacious in extensive grounds which we would have explored had our stay been longer. After a peaceful night we were treated to an extensive and delicious breakfast prior to our departure. This would be an excellent place to stay for anyone requiring a Gatwick flight.
Could be a little difficult to find but this is easily overcome by a SatNav, a decent map or navigation instructions. Besides, its tranquility and silence at night is part of its charm.
Amazing hotel and very lovely staff offered advice on where to visit on our day out.
lovely house, great room, beautiful setting: charming friendly hosts.
Stayed at Faygate Place for a birthday party at nearby Ghyll Manor (Rusper). Nick was very obliging and even took us to Rusper rather than have to take a taxi (including a late pick up past midnight). Breakfast was plentiful at a time to suit us and a cooked breakfast was offered.
very nominal, but no bracket for the shower head in the en-suite but that is a personal issue as I prefer showers to baths! No other issues at all
Very helpful host, offered to drop us off at our friend's house as walking on local winding roads, rather dangerous. Great breakfast.
Private bathroom rather distant, but not a major problem. Other rooms have ensuites.
Small room. Had to ask for amenities such as milk and coat hangers. Bathroom advertised as being private. We discovered it was a long walk to the floor below. After hearing a commotion in the room next door we were then moved to a larger on suite room. Very unclean. Hairs and dead spider in the bed. Hairs and silver fish in the bathroom. Slow running water from the shower. You could also see the spotlights from the downstairs kitchen through the floorboards. As well as being dirty the bed was also very uncomfortable. Very unfriendly owner and breakfast was of a very poor quality. Sadly not what we expected.
Lots of space Sits in beautiful countryside Very peaceful Lovely house and warm welcome Good breakfast in house Friendly owners
The lodge was damp but owners were unaware and are rectifying this.
Lovely house in large quiet gardens with views over beautiful open countryside. Owners very pleasant, trying to provide helpful service.
Feels as though you are intruding in someone's private family home! Poor signage from road, not easy to find. No working doorbell - had to go in and knock on internal door. Not clear we were expected although had booked. Room ok but not very clean, private bathroom on another floor (should be made clear), no water in room. Minimal facilities in room (Empty tissue boxes, no hairdryer, unable to make a drink, Tv screen not visible from bed due to foot of bed!!) Feels like owners lack experience & expertise running b&b, though seem willing.
Down a country lane you find a Great B&B, a hearty breakfast served by the owner, Nick a gracious host.
Good length bed, nice, varied breakfast, pleasant rural setting.
Description omitted to say that separate bathroom was in fact we'll remote from bedroom and one long flight of stairs down.
The location and grounds were amazing. Very spacious rooms and great hosts.
Rooms were not clean enough. Dust and cobwebs, dead mouse in the dinning room, wet rag left under fitted bedsheet.
This large country house was in a wonderful setting surrounded by spacious lawns and nearby fields ad woods - we woke up and looked out from the french window at several horses grazing in the next field - very peaceful. The separate bathroom was just for us and very clean, the single beds were the most comfortable I have slept in when staying in a twin room. The hosts were friendly and helpful eg with cases and breakfast was served at a dining table for 6 in a lovely room full of character, with delicious croissants, cereals and figs and cooked breakfast according to our wishes. This room and the way the breakfast was laid out particularly reminded me of a previous stay in a Chateau in Normandy, good food and the chance to chat to other guests........a great place for a weekend away from it all! We will return when visiting family in the area and recommend this country house B and B to our friends and family. Looking forward to our next stay at Faygate Place.
The fact that we had to get back to Bristol and could only stay one night! Will plan a longer stay next time.....
Style of the premises and the room, greeting and friendliness of the owner and family, excellent breakfast. Willingness to sort trivial things straightaway(towels), all we had to do is ask nicely. Good advice about things to do locally and pubs for dinner.
There is nothing to dislike.
The quirkiness of the building. Friendliness of the owner. The fantastic setting. Not being in the centre of Crawley.
Having to walk to the bathroom across a hall. A bit more attention to detail needed regarding the tea/coffee facilities.
No ensuite bathroom which we should of been aware of before we booked. No soap or towel in bathroom. Difficulty getting cold water in our bathroom. No creamer for our tea. All basic things and we have travelled alot
Clean A bit different Welcoming
The bed was comfortable and clean
We recently stayed at "North Lodge", described on your website as 2 bedroom house, for 2 nights. There was a "Let By" sign in the garden, which the owner said was not theirs and was "very annoying" and we have since found out that the property is up for sale. The bathroom was dirty, had no blind at the window and the window would not shut properly ... this property close to the road on a dark unlit lane so a bit worrying. There were dirty plates still in the dishwasher and the oven didn't work, although if it had of, we wouldn't have used it as there was 2 inches of grease and burnt food on the grill and the oven itself was filthy. There were blinds at some but not all of the windows and the main lounge curtains were hanging off. The photographs on your website were taken along time ago and the property is nothing like you show now. All in all, very disappointed, apart from the good nights sleep in a comfortable bed.
Location The beautiful house The somewhat chaotic and eccentric owner who was also very accomodating
Could have been cleaner and better prepared Room very hot and no fan available
The owner said us the bathroom was "in the corridor" but in fact, bathroom was on the floor under the bedroom (we have to go down stairs to go to the toilets : in the middle of the night, not very practise!!). Bedroom and bathroom weren't clean (hair, dust and others things on the floor...). Like we say in french, the owner was kind but too much "bohème". It was very too expensive (considerate negatives points).
This was a quick stop on our tour around England. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage which was great with the kids. We got caught up with relatives and there was not a problem checking in at close to 11pm.
The kitchen would need a few more items if you were going to stay longer and wanted to cook. The floor was really cold with no rugs on the floor, and in one of the rooms the carpet was wet from the radiator, which we believe they new about as there were towels under it.
room was lovely but not what was booked
laundry hanging on the front lawn when we arrived owner not home when we arrived- no room to eat breakfast-as there are limited chairs at the dining room table-had to sit in the living room
