The Feathers Hotel LudlowBull Ring, SY8 1AA Ludlow (Show map) Very good, Score from 232 reviews“The Feathers was a pleasant, well appointed hotel whose staff were helpful and polite without being fussy or overbearing. The Feathers is a warm and freindly hotel packed with history and olde worlde style. The bar is moder and has a great range of ales and ciders and the restaurant rates highly in a town where the standard is high. The rooms are comfortable and homely with a range of quirks as befits such an old building: not without the odd bump in the night!!! The car parking is free and accessible and greaty apreciated for the hotels' central location. The bar man serving on the evening of the 16th August was particularly dour and unwelcoming: a real shame as teh previous time we stayed the bar staff couldn't do enough to help us.

The location of the hotel and its car park, in the centre of Ludlow, makes for the perfect stay in town. From the hotel's appearance you would guess that it has a history and this has been captured within. The staff were helpful and efficient and the food was really good.

Wonderful building to look at residents lounge interesting -ceiling and fireplace the amuses bouche at start of dinner was hopeful Restaurant dinner over priced, pasta -uncooked- sent back, meagre portions, bread roll- poor, wine overpriced even the house wine. Restaurant very bleak. Coffee served in a cup not a cafeteria. Breakfast hash browns small, tasteless and uncooked. Bacon dry.scrabbled egg poor Orders for drink not served in residents lounge have to be collected up very dodgy stairs-cus of age of building. No -one offered to help with suitcase either. Residents Lounge crowded with chairs, tables were shoddy- polish stripped off. Room to far away too many corridors and stairs- should have been told. Much of interior stuck in the 1970'S. No sense of comfort, wanted to be impressed-wasn't

We love the real historic ambience of the whole building and setting within the town. The friendly and attentive staff coupled with the modern bar and excellent restaurant, all combine to make the Feathers a superb package. The James 1 room is a glorious venue, a hidden Jacobean gem that is truly spectacular.

The Feathers was an extremely impressive place to stay. The staff were all so very welcoming. The Hotel itself was really lovely just what we had expected and more. The two reading rooms upstairs were lovely, they took you back to the 1500's it was great. Food was to die for especially the plentiful breakfast which certainly did set you up for the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing break in wonderful surroundings.

The building itself is very interesting and the location is ideal for visiting Ludlow. No specific problems but wonder if the hotel is now trading on its reputation.

The old world charm, particularly the two upstairs old rooms with original type furniture. The comfort and luxury of our bedroom was good and we both slept well - after the fire alarm problem had been sorted! We were somewhat dismayed when we learned that there was no room in the restaurant on the Saturday evening although we had booked a month previously for my wife's 75th. The Staff were able to rectify this but, due to a power breakdown, we ate at a nearby restaurant recommended by the Feathers.

I have stayed at the Feathers before because I particularly enjoy the quirky layout and the sense of history. I think the staff are all excellent and on this occasion, because there was a fault in the kitchen and we could not eat at the hotel, and someone set off the fire alarm 7 times during the night, the young man on duty was superb. He handled a difficult situation extremely well. It was disappointing that we had to go elsewhere to eat, but this was a situation beyond your control and we will be returning. I could not complain about anything, as stated previously, the incidents that occurred on Saturday were beyond the hotel's control and the staff coped well.

lots of character. Good location in the centre of town but not in noisy area. Good size room. Good breakfast and room facilities. The bed was uncomfortable and the radiator pipes creaked and banged all night.

Unfortunately the only thing that the Feathers has going for it it's location. Although it is obviously a beautiful building from the outside this is not reflected on the inside. Nice looking hotel with an attractive dining room, but unfortunately the bedroom facilities were very disappointing. The decor of our room was very 70's with matching furtniture and woodchip wallpaper! The bathroom was even worse with mould in the shower, old fashioned fittings and tatty furniture. The overall smell of the room was musty, damp and very unpleasant. As we had arrived late on a very cold day we decided to stay, but prompty moved on to another hotel in the town the next morning which had lovely clean, modern rooms and was almost half the price. Would definately not go back there and quite honestly we feel like we have been ripped off. The price did not reflect the quality of the hotel and I don't know how they have the nerve to charge the prices they do.

There are nothing to say about the bad things. This 500 years old hotel, feel the history inside/out. Hotel staffs are very polite and helpful. We had a superb dinner and very reasonable price. recommend to family and friends. The Feathers Hotel made us an unforgetable memory, we definetely stay this hotel near in future.
