Paid what you got
The ensuite too small
Very very clean. Available parking is a big plus.
The bad was quite uncomfortable and its location made me feel a bit claustrophobic. Bathroom so tiny I kept bumping into things 9and only one small thin towel per person). A new layer of paint would cheer up the place.
Fantastic location, comfortable, clean, very cheap for a room in central Cambridge.
Small en-suite bathroom.
Close to the city. Warm room. Clean bedding. Tea and coffee in the room.
Skirting boards need cleaning and under the beds. Tried to ring reception to change the time of breakfast, but even though there is a phone in the room, there was no indication of what number to ring to contact reception. I had to call the hotel on my mobile to speak to reception. I did point this out on leaving.
Location is close to the train station but about 20 mins from city center.
Very expensive room price, poor internet quality, annoying staff, cold breakfast
the young female staff at breakfast speaks poor english, could not understand our requirements well. the attic room which we stayed in is affected by the loud traffic during the whole night.
I absolutely loved every aspect of this b&b! It was very clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and generous! I definitely got what I paid for I don't feel like o wasted a single penny! Overall it was a great experience. I also loved the sophistication of the Christmas decor!
The fact that the tv didn't work.
Location near the station is very convenient, the bath seems nice... at first.
DO NOT STAY HERE. Rooms are not as nice as pictures make it seem. Staff seemed inconvenienced by the arrival of guests. Bathroom had a fire alarm fitted that goes off when two people (in a 2 dbl bed room) have a shower one after another - we were getting ready to leave for an event and had to clothe ourselves in haste when the alarm went off while one of us was still in the shower! Once we got to reception, we found out the reason for the alarm. One of the double beds was "convex" so it was incredibly uncomfortable - in the morning we changed to the other double bed only to discover it was normal. To top off the Fawlty Towers experience, breakfast staff was sullen, toast turned up several minutes after the hot breakfast and mushrooms were burned/dried out. Thankfully we were only there for an event and did not spend much time in the hotel...
Comfortable bed, quiet room.
Tiny room, dirty shower, small towel, not worth it for anything longer than 1 night.
Very friendly ad helpful staff. 5 minutes walk from rail station and another 10 minutes to narest shop. Good and tasty breakfast.
Noise coming from another rooms.
+ Location is very convenient right next to the station. + Sheets were clean. + Breakfast is served
- Rooms are shabby. - Walls are dirty.
Very polite and helpful stuff Good breakfast
Uncomfortable bed No table near the bed Not enough heating
The food was good and the room was big
The shower was broken and the duvets were quite thin (we stayed in winter)
Really close to station. Easy walk into the city. Perfect for attending a college interview.
The ensuite was really small but adequate.
Close to train station, but not to city center
Actually a regular house changed into hotel rooms, so suboptimal Unwelcome outside, overdue maintenance Wifi didn't work, breakfast was sub-standard, room was very common Not what I expected based on price and pictures
Very small single room all the way up under the roof. It looks like they wanted to make an extra room in what's hardly big enough to use as a closet. Very, very small bathroom Bed was broken in some places.
The room was ridiculously tiny, unlike in the photo's. The bed creaked and the mattress had a massive divot in the middle. Terribly cramped and uncomfortable stay.
Clean and location and it was only £70.00 for one night
Noise from other rooms. Self service breakfast to the point of having to put my own cutlery on the table, one mushroom with a full english breakfast? I dont consider 2 tea bags as tea making facilities. The shower ran out of hot water. I was lucky enough to get one of the four carparking spots dont know of any alternative parking. Staff did not seem bothered if we were there or not. The exit to the car park was through the kitchen lucky I had only 1 bag
having to book a time for breakfast drain smell coming from bathroom limited TV programmes, no BBC Parking limited and cramped
Nice comfortable room Good location Nice staff
Breakfast was a bit stingy, shower wasn't too big
Location to the station is good, however it is a longer walk into town. Open 24 hours a day. Good bed.
Felt like a student room - very sparse, the shower had been used as a smokers "den" so stunk the whole place out. The walls are very thin, so can hear people every where. Unfriendly staff, and had to wait for 20 mins for breakfast (despite booking). We came for a romantic weekend, and ended up booking elsewhere.
Proximity to Railway Station Decision to refund a non refundable booking.
Everything else… Initial impression - bad. Hotel was dirty throughout. First room was tiny - not compact - especially dirty with noisy cot bed, which was jammed up against a radiator. Electric sockets off walls, wires and extension plug boards. Bathroom smaller than the WC under my stairs. Second room - twin - one bed unstable, but room brighter and cleaner. All visible paintwork was marked, tired and dirty looking. Third option - not a runner. Lady on reception was truculent about the matter. I left to attend my appointments and to give her and her colleagues time to think. This is more like a low end hostel.
Despite everything it felt cosy 24 hour check in Felt safe tea/coffee in room
Basin wasn't clean - there was a lump of toothpaste stuck to it Shower took over 5 minutes to heat up, was just about to give up on having a warm shower weren't given a chance to look at breakfast menu before a waitress was at the table wanting to know what we were having. She wasn't very polite. No fruit offered at breakfast.
This is a clean, comfortable hotel in a very good location. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
We had a room at the back on ground floor and found the noise of cars on gravel in the car park and the headlights and security lights a bit disturbing in the night. Blackout curtains and triple glazing would solve this.
This establishment is probably not what you would be expecting when you think of visiting Cambridge.Located in a dull noisy suburban street, behind an uninviting but deceptively small exterior, it is a warren of a place filled with unhappy looking people, possibly still trying to find reception and a way out. We were given a tiny room right at the top of the building, next to the boiler, up several narrow flights of stairs, which was ideal, given the fact that we had 2 heavy suitcases and were offered no assistance. If the room had ever had any charm, it had sadly left several years ago.The curtain rail was broken and hanging off the wall. Dirty cushion on the bed, dirty worn carpets, and stains on the walls. The bathroom was so "en suite" it was located in a cupboard.Fortunately we were both quite small, otherwise it might have been difficult to access the toilet. An added challenge was trying to fill the kettle from the bathroom sink, as the basin was so small. The helpful suggestion at reception was to "fill it using cups". You will be asked to "book" a time for a breakfast slot on arrival. Don't bother, because there will be no room, as the overcrowded breakfast room is far too small for the number of guests and if there is a seat, you will be expected to sit with strangers and enjoy the prospect of eating off plastic tablecloths. We were told to come back in 20 minutes. We didn't. The staff were rude, offhand, spoke to each other in another language whilst ignoring customers and generally gave the impression that they had difficulty understanding the concept of a hotel. staying at Fenners is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy!
