As soon as we arrived my query was answered and the table for 9 booked without any problem. We would visit your hotel anytime we are in the district we can not say anything other than Excellent. Anthony & Wendy
when I booked I think it was through an agency and they did not answer my query which was - is the restaurant open to non residents. Do not take this as a grumble take it up with the agency !
Good location and excellent appearance.Very clean and comfortable.Very friendly staff who tried to please at all times. Excellent food and one of the best breakfasts ever !
The stairs !!! 37 stairs to our Superior room which although comfortable was rather small. No Sky TV.
Location Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable beds Delicious and plentiful breakfasts
Location, swimming pool, building and helpful staff
Friendly staff, superb food, comfortable beds, nice surroundings - just a lovely and relaxing hotel
Swimming pool area could do with more attention - pool shower needed cleaning and sun lounger and chair pads were soaking wet from recent downpours and we could not use them - need a covered area to store.
Friendliness and helpfulness, lovely comfortable beds, good breakfasts. cleanliness, grounds, all of it
I can't think of anything
I was greeted on entrance, staff very friendly and asked if I was staying for dinner which I did in the bar and was great food. I spent most of my time in my room, lots of refreshments to choose from and loved the homemade biscuits. The tv was good and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very yummy and there was a breakfast bar with cereals, fruits, pastries and yoghurt but the best was the menu option. I would stay here again and recommend to anyone in the area.
I tried to watch a programme on my ipad and due to the weak wifi it was a struggle.
Food Staff Dining facilities Room Décor Small hotel (just 10 rooms)
Surrounded by a lot of let properties. Noticeable traffic noise. Receptionist seemed reluctant, for some reason, to give out tourist leaflets. They should have been on display, not hidden in a large wooden box! On leaving when I mentioned this, I was told the owners thought the tourist leaflets made the place look untidy. It's pleasant enough outside but there isn't really a garden. Some of the plants were badly in need of watering.
A lot! Location, staff, comfort, plenty of parking availability, food, easy to relax.
In bedroom insufficient light in the evening. Just one more effective side-light would suffice.
tranquill grounds and hotel outdoor pool and terraces
Views across to the sea are very nice from upper floor. Restaurant food quite good. Breakfast choice very good.
Pool hours are restrictive as its not possible to swim before breakfast. Don't really understand why bar menu and restaurant menu are restricted to the times they are. Curtains don't fit the windows so be prepared to wake up with the dawn light.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room very comfortable and the breakfast excellent.
We were disappointed with the swimming pool and patio area it was in need of a lot of T L C
The hotel was in a great location and the staff really helpful. I had a slight accident whilst in Lyme Regis and they could not do enough to help, providing ice packs, phoning the local medical centre who suggested that we go to Bridport Hospital and providing a map of how to get there.
We were on the top floor which proved very difficult, however we would stay there again but would ask for a room on a lower floor.
Position, decor food and service all good.
A lift or assistance with luggage to third floor would be a bonus
Slightly out of the way in amongst the woods Fernhill is a peaceful retreat. A couple of miles out from both Lyme and Charmouth but good transport links.
The bed was comfortable, linen was clean and soft. Nice pillows, great shower and fabulous breakfast cooked perfectly!
Having to leave!
The owners Rob & Jo run a really lovely hotel. They were incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We stayed for 6 nights.
Breakfast was a little disappointing. Undercooked bacon & sausage.
The owners and their staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food we had here was very good and the breakfast cooked to order (none of that tired old buffet / self service rubbish so often found.) and was superb. Fabulous views over the common and a very good base to tour the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean.
We stayed for four nights and the garden suite did not have any drawer space inconvenient but not disastrous.
Would have preferred breakfast until 10.00 and a bottle of water in room. Otherwise no dislikes
Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived, but pulled out all the stops when I injured my ankle on the first day of my weekend break. Despite that I had a wonderful stay, good food and will definitely look for an opportunity to return.
There are lots of stairs so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues, but from my experience the team will do everything they can to help.
It was nice and clean the breakfast was nice too. It was good the bus stop was outside as was very hilly could only manage a walk one way
Children were in the bar which spolilt pre dinner drinks not just our comment sever all others too .Went out the 2nd night . A bit too far out of Lyme Regis for a nice walk as very hilly .
There was one small flight of twisting stairs without any sort of handrail which we found dangerous. I am surprised this has got past a safety inspection. Food was a bit on the pricey side but the ambience of the dining room was good.
Great location, great hosts and staff, will likely return later in the year
Wifi slow, but probably due to location
