Donald,
Sutton-in-ashfield
Originally built as a farmhouse in 1672, the Fieldhead is on the edge of Charnwood Forest, just 7 miles from Leicester and 1 mile from Junction 22 of highway M1. Built from local stone, this charming traditional inn was a working farm until the 1980s. Now, it has a cozy restaurant, a bar and a terrace for guests to enjoy. The seasonal menus offer a wide selection of modern and traditional British favorites, from hearty main courses to lighter snacks. A selection of real ales, carefully selected wines and special teas and coffees are also available. The hotel offers 28 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, each of which is individually decorated with its own unique charm. Guests can use free Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms and in public areas of the building. Whether you are exploring the region as a tourist or visiting the area on business, the Fieldhead has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, mouth-watering food and cozy rooms. Hotel Rooms: 28, Hotel Chain: Old English Inns.

Excellent value for money, good location, spacious rooms, excellent choice of food in the restraunt. Will happily stay there again when I return to Bardon That the reception desk is not always manned and that you have to ring for service. This did not create a good first impression for a first time visitor b ut it is a minor quibble.

Stopped before so knew what to expect. Good spec room, location and Bfast. Take That tribute night. Says it all. Plus one member of staff struggling a bit at Bfast but no real problems.

Really nice hotel, good location. Everyone was very friendly. Cheap toilet rolls. Needed a tray to put used cups on in room. Would have liked a pot of tea instead of half a cup of tea at breakfast.

We have been to the Fairfield before and what we like best is the lovely relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You can always get a meal. We stayed on 1st January and it was service as usual in the bar. Our beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast was good. We like the fact that there is a good choice for breakfast and it is brought to the table instead of being kept half cold on a greasy buffet bar. The breakfast area is separate from the bar, and the environment is pleasant, but the furniture is dirty and tired and it could all do with a facelift. Also, our beds didn't have a top sheet. Most people prefer a sheet under a duvet, as otherwise the duvet keeps slipping off.

Pleasant staff; quiet room at a reasonable price. Service at breakfast was a bit scrappy. Staff were (understandably) tired after New Year's Eve festivities the night before.

We booked via yourselves and paid at the time. Upon arrival we were told we hadn't paid. I went to our room and found out the e mail to prove I had and went back down to reception. The man then got the manager who confirmed we had paid. When we checked out we were told again that we hadn't paid. I told the man what had happened the previous night and showwed him the e mail but he wouldn't accpet this. Eventually he let us pay for our food and drinks, kept a swipe of our card and told us he would speak to a mamanger and call us to confirm the outcome. I had no phone call so after ringing twice I was told that it 'should' be ok. We shouldn't have had to go thorugh this once, never mind twice, it was embarrassing and ruined our time at the hotel.

The staff were extremely helpful and polite and made me feel most welcome. It was the comfiest bed I have slept in for a long while (and I have just bought a new mattress for home!) and the food was really good. All in all, can't wait until I can visit again!

Easy to find near to the motorway. They accept dogs and gave us a ground floor room which was useful as our dog is old and has arthritis. Decent choice at breakfast aand free wifi was a bonus. We were not told we would have to book a table for dinner, when we went to the restauant we were turned away and ended up having to search around the area for somewhere to eat.

Friendly staff and convenient location to visit son at Uni without being in his space. Room 18 had an aircon or freezer unit that kept kicking in and out at night. Towards the rear so maybe to do with cellar or refridge unit. If stayed on or off be ok but on off on woke me regularly
