Score from 481 reviews Very good
Location, restaurant. Room was a good size and bed comfortable.
Wifi was dreadful which is unacceptable these days - slow and no option to opt-out of marketing spam if you want to use the advertised "free" Internet. Hotel was very hot throughout and lacked fresh air.
Good location, close to the motorway and still relatively quiet. Lots of free parking space. Nice room, excellent bed, good shower, good breakfast.
Internet was slow, the pub was understaffed and was not in a hurry to serve us with dinner ( to be fair the pub was full). Thin walls ( sound from neighboring room).
Proximity to Motorway, Leicester and other places of interest.
Nothing to really dislike
Cheerful, helpful staff. Good location, only 5mins off M1, but quiet and clean. Good selection of drinks and good value restaurant menu. Breakfast was very good.
Staff were very good, but rather busy. Would have liked to have been OFFERED more toast and coffee at breakfast. I'm sure the staff would have obliged if I'd asked. May have been better to have self service coffee and a toaster nearby.
Blackout curtains, ground floor room. Meal was good.
Had to ask for TV remote and how to connect to free wifi which was a bit tricky but got there in the end. Staff very helpful
Staff all pleasant and friendly.Breakfast excellent.rooms spacious.
Friendly, comfortable, good food, good parking, good sized rooms, clean and tidy.
Lack of staff, had to wait ages to check in, then had to go into bar and find someone, same again when checked out. Not enough staff at breaakfast and again had to wait ages, however staffing was fine in the bar and evening restaurant.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Layout was good. Meals were also very nice and reasonably priced.
On the down side we stayed in room 5 and I dont know whether its the cleaning products but it smelt strongly like an old peoples home.
The setting and the building were good. Room was OK but a bit sparsely decorated. Wi-fi was very good.
Dinner was terrible - had to send the first one back. Duck was raw, vegs ancient - probably left over from lunch. Second not much better, but really wanted something to eat before another half hour. They accepted it was awful and didn't charge me for it. Such a pity. Breakfast was OK but service not very good. Reception was barely manned most of the time.
The dinner was nice. The beds were really comfy
We heard breakfast wasn't good from other guests so didn't go
Nice clean room
Bit under staffed at breakfast waitress found it hard to cope with the amount of guests
The room cleanliness and comfort. A great night's sleep after a 24-mile walk!
Being kept waiting almost half an hour to check in. Also, some confusion with the evening meal as I was told to seat myself somewhere where I felt comfortable and somebody would be over. half an hour later I waved the menu to waitresses wandering about and was told I should order from the bar! left hand didn;t seem to know what the right was doing.
No-one on reception on arrival - obviously due to lack of staff.Poor restaurant service - drinks took 20 minutes to be brought to table, only arrived after asking manager, food came 45 minutes later. Tired and dated decor, needs total refurbishment throughout. On night we stayed, dogs in trailers in car park barked throughout night - apparently on way to dog show! We came to stay between house moves and had been up since 7am packing, we arrived at 7:45pm wanting to relax, enjoy a meal and drink, and a good nights sleep before driving over 100miles to Norfolk on Sunday. We were absolutely shattered the next day due to stress from the meal fiasco and lack of sleep. Not impressed at all for the price paid.
Polite, helpful staff. We were going to a wedding and we were allowed to book in ear;y and use the room to change. They also advised about area etc. Our room was spacious and all that you needed for our short stay. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the restaurant-but they do offer breakfast until noon! Not many hotels offer that!
Know that it will depend on times of day but- difficult to speak to someone if no one on reception. Options are given to speak but if you want to talk about an existing booking phone goes through to restaurant and again no-one available to take a call.
Spacious bedroom and comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. What more could anyone want?!
Easy to find, and close to a major customer. Friendly staff and value for money.
Noisy wedding party that evening, but those events happen.
It needs a refurb. Paint flaking off the walls & seal around the baths need changing. The hotel gets a lot of use, but the maintenance needs keeping on top of.
Location good for me and easy access to M1. Breakfast still good Rooms still good value Team very pleasant- reactive rather than proactive
Mattress needs replacing- I awoke with a bad back. Breakfast area has moved and there wasn't anyone around apart from the cleaner to indicate where to go. I waited 5 minutes and then had to go to the kitchen to find someone to take my order. As a previous regula , they used to take my order at check in the night before[ in fact they knew it!] It was always waiting for me at 7am prompt as I usually have to leave there at 7.15 at the latest] Fortunately I had different timescales on this occasion
I liked the style of the room, and the king size bed
The chipped window frames. Also the reception was slow, due to the shortage of staff.
The location was perfect for us and the room was comfortable and clean.
The breakfast could have been better. They seem to be using very cheap cooking oil and it ruined the taste of the food expecially the eggs! Only had breakfast on the first morning then decided to go elsewhere.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Good value accommodation , food and drink Nice balance of bar ,dining room and lounge area A country pub feel Fantastic location near to Charnwood Forest and the delightful Bradgate Park Comfortable and quiet bedrooms
The public areas could do with a refurb such as new carpets
the staff were very friendly and helpful food was excellent room was clean and tidy
It was very hot weather when we stayed and the rooms became overheated and even with windows open it didnt help, a fan in the room would have been good but apart from that no issues
Location, meals and cleanliness of the hotel were above average
WiFi struggled to play any video
Very helpful friendly staff. Great pub with excellent food. The breakfast is again excellent value
The room was dated, however the bedding was very clean and freshly laundered.
We liked everything about the Fieldhead. We had a large quiet room, huge bed, luxury bathroom. Food range excellent, super quality for the price. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Outside patio area could have done with a clean up, bits of litter about.
