Staff was very friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble. Room was spotless, bed very comfortable. Food was outstanding and plentiful. Very pleased with our stay will go again.
Bed was comfortable
Room was not clean Curtains were shabby Pub decor was dated
very good staff and food good breakfast
drinks a bit on the pricey side
Very friendly staff, always smiling and happy to help. Went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfortable and well decorated.
Noisy generator on top of the kitchen roof, didn't keep us up at night but did disturb the tranquility slightly.
Friendly, welcoming staff all round. Comfortable, clean, good sized room, which despite being near the exit from the car park was quiet. Excellent food both in the evening and at breakfast. A dog friendly hotel.
Not a lot. A very minor point was the lack of a shaver point in the bathroom.
Very good all round over night stay, friendly staff, nice room, good food both dinner and breakfast, oh with some excellent beer!
Only problem shower door didn't close properly.
room Location Quiet wifi staff very friendly and helpful
no steak on menue no smooth beer
staff excellent, comfy sleep,
food had rump steak.. steak gristly.. chips were pale... and who on earth puts a pile of cooked slimy onions on a plate yuk (should be onion rings) but breakfast was excellent
we had a lovely two nights here - cycling in the morning & visiting the beaches late afternoon. We ate our evening meals at the hotel and the food was first class. It is obviously a very popular place with a large clientele but in spite of the numbers food arrived promptly
there was nothing to dislike
Great food, especially the crab sandwich.
Plenty of off road parking for my large van. Food good and atmosphere friendly.
Rooms dated and door lock on room 1 was not very secure. Breakfast was good but slow to serve
Ok location. Near Christchurch. Excellent breakfast.
Rooms are a bit tired, and need updating.
Staff very pleasant and friendly.
Very slow service in dining room. Meals quite expensive. Breakfast buffet table very sparse and needs to be covered to keep flies off The whole property needs decorating..
Comfort. Food Location
Assistant manageress tried hard and gave excellent service.Evening meals were good as was the service.Beer and wine very good.Nice 'old fashioned' ambience in public areas.
Breakfast was a disaster on day one due to very poor service.Day two better but unrefined service. A lot of persistent flies around in public areas. Room was very small and not worth the money. The coach house would benefit from some attention e.g paintwork, door hangers missing, bulbs not working.
Good area, nice staff, good breakfast, easy parking.
As other people have commented, Room 7 overlooks flat roof of kitchen area and ducting fan (?) going all night. We were staying for 3 nights and after mentioning it after our first night we were moved to another room.
Chocolate, location. Good sleep. Decent sized towels. Fresh milk in flask.
Spiders, cobwebs, scruffy, tired, stained, peeling paper, bathroom. Needs to be cleaned, windows need washing, paintwork is bad. Doesn't look like it had been touched in years. Have a cheek charging so much. Left waiting at reception and then told to check in at the bar and then told to go back to reception. Very bad service. Nobody available for check out next morning. Made me late.
I know other reviews say it is a little jaded and needs updating but it is still an excellent base to explore the surrounding area and the little extras in the room like the chocolate and the swan shaped towels are great. I like the quirky individual decor in each room I do not want a sterile environment I want it to feel homely and it does and the staff are very helpful. As a vegetarian I just omitted the meat from my choice of full English breakfast but the waitress told me they had veggie sausages so that was a bonus I wasn't expecting. Very friendly and welcoming I would highly recommend looking past any minor decor issues. We had an amazing time and it is the third time we have stayed there in three different rooms and they were all great.
The main meals are a little pricey and the fish I had contained a lot of bones which put me off as I had to keep picking them out. Breakfast is great but I would suggest have your dinner whilst out and about
Location, fairly quiet, large and spacious room. Good tea and coffee and I was told there would usually be a flask opf fresh milk which is nice but it never materialised. The staff member was trying to do too much I think. Would stay here again based on suitability of location but would eat elsewhere.
Late breakfast- 7.30 Vacuuming outside rooms at 7am? Spotlights outside bedroom window made it seem like daylight all night with light coming in- invest in blackout blinds. Seemed clean at first however cleaner needs to be told to use the nozzle around edges of floor and ceiling. Shower a little grubby and fan in bathroom is loud and takes a very long time to switch off. The room is overpriced. Dinner - chips cold and egg that came with gammon was overcooked. Scrambled egg at breakfast had a big piece of onion in it?? All minor gripes but there is a certain expectation when you pay what they are asking so they should get it right.
Nice friendly staff & comfortable surroundings
Breakfast was supposed to be served 7.30am - staff could access till 7.50am! Made us late for rest of day! Shame as stay had been enjoyable till then!
Complimentary water's Complimentary Choc Bar Staff
Lovely spacious room with extremely comfortable bed. Food was excellent with lots of choice. Good breakfast with lots of options. Freshly cooked to order.
Even though I was in the area to work , on the evening there was a pleasant holiday atmosphere in the beer garden. The food was good and reasonably priced both for evening meal and breakfast really pleased there was a fan in the room as weather was hot
Very good welcome and so good to have fan in room as very hot weather and no air con. Lovely big room and comfy bed. Good toiletries and large fluffy bath sheets. Complimentary bottled water and Cadbury choc rvrty day! Nice touch. Good choice at breakfast and nice variety at dinner.
Our "luxury" double room was in The Coach House which was fine but we were on first floor accessed by fairly steep stairs and my partner was recovering from full knee replacement op. (Tho the receptionist said she could move us but not til following night, if wished)
