Score from 6 reviews Exceptional
Overlooking Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands, this grand country house features spectacular gardens, a luxury spa and on-site museum.
Score from 604 reviews Very good
All of the above. In addition, the fact that the hotel had an elevator
In restaurant the food could have arrived at the table hotter. Surprised that one had to negotiate stairs (albeit 3) to go down/up to breakfast (whilst carrying hot food). Thought this constituted a safety hazard
Position and comfort
Have had better breakfast.
atmosphere (concerts in a lobby), design, great location, free parking, friendly staff
hotel and facilities seem a bit tired
The evening entertainment was good.
The mattress was hard and the room was small
room adequate for short stay but no longer. staff very good. food excellent overall very good
Car park OK for Hotel but needs to be better controlled as used by visitors to town but not using hotel and guests have to use public car parks
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a bit haphazard (we had to ask for our tea/coffee as we had nearly finished our meal and had not been served with this.) but plentiful food and nice choices. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come again (but not eat in the restaurant!)
Evening meal was quite poor for the price. Very plain roast in a bowl with no trimmings (yorkshire pudding, stuffing etc.) or sauce (eg Apple for the pork). Mash potato was some sort of instant. Sparkling water was warm! Have had much better in a normal restaurant. Quite pricey for this.
Breakfast was good
Housekeeping was poor
I liked the 'laid back' feeling and enjoyed the comfort of the hotel. The shops were handy and interesting and the town was quiet at night. Plenty of places to visit a within a short drive time.
Nothing I noticed.
No grab rails for shower over bath. Not safe.
Large room overlooking a garden. Location on main street. nice looking old building in a pretty town.
Chaos at breakfast. Long lines. Not enough staff or food items and plates. Stuffy room, needs a fan at least. Lift not working. Had to lug cases up 2 floors. Not an exercise for older people. No offers of help ( porter).
wifi not good signal in some rooms
The proximity to the the theatre, train station, high street, great parking. Friendly staff, lovely room with comfy bed and great shower. Lots of choice at breakfast.
I couldn't fault anything in the hotel.
Hotel friendly and welcoming. Central to shops, bars etc
Not being able to mix menus in restaurant. Lift doors could be brutal if you did not get in on timeq
location to high street is excellent
rooms are a little dated now and could do with refurbishing/decorating. Please do something about the front door it keeps banging and was getting on my nerves when I was sitting in the lounge area
The hotel has a good central location in Pitlochry. Breakfast was ok.
TV reception in the room was poor. But the worst thing was complete absence of hot water in the morning. A shrug of the shoulders and a comment that it must have all been used by other guests is not good enough in my book when you have spent well in excess of £100 for a night's stay. The hotel wouldn't consider a reduction in the rate.
reception friendly, welcome drink very nice and prompt attention to problems
We will never come back
The room was narrow, nasty and noisy.
The room was ok but more like a £60 a night hotel
£105 for bed and breakfast single room - you do not expect to get tinned fruit for breakfast , Scottish hotel in the heart of Scotland who doesn't offer potatoe scones for breakfast?? Service in restaurant at dinner and at breakfast very poor indeed
Excellent location. A good feeling for the heyday of tourism in Pitrochry.
Parking area used by others..and therefore space always easy to find.
Breakfast was ample.
The lift didn't have a safety mechanism to stop the doors closing if anyone was part way in or out. My elderly mother at 88 years old got her hand trapped. Toilet leaked in bedroom. Telephone didn't ring between rooms. Tiles need regrouting
Very good service and nice room Great breakfast.
The room was bright, clean and comfortable
The noise in the hotel going on until 1am and being rudely woken again at 7:45am. with the fire alarm going off. The quality of the food. All 3 courses at dinner as well as breakfast could all have been greatly improved. Presentation of food extremely poor
The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating and made the hotel shine. Car parking was great too
Breakfast was a bit mediocre.
The food and attention was excellent. Would have not hesitation recommending this hotel to others
Did not care for the bedding. Rather strange and heavy so-called duvet! Apart from that just fine
