Score from 204 reviews Very good
big room nice pool, sauna and steam room lovely surroundings very quiet
bedding was a bit too warm for the summer
Polite professional staff, clean hotel and good foid
Could have been cleaner considering it's a four star hotel
Lovely balcony and views
Breakfast wasn't great , but ok for buffet.
A lovely relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, lovely restaurants and wonderful spa! Only stayed for one night but felt like we were on holiday.
The restaurant had run out of our preferred meal choice.
Staff were friendly, lots of facilities if needed.
When I booked a king room, I thought I would have aircon as it stated the rooms would have aircon. Didn't make it clear I would be in a village room which didn't have aircon - check this especially in the summer when the air is warm and stuffy. Luckily for us the day we arrived it had rained and wasn't so hot.
The rooms we're very well decorated and comfortable. Restaurant catch 22 was nice and quiet on a Friday night. Cooked breakfast was one of the best we've have at a hotel.
Bathroom very dated. Presentation and length of time to wait for dessert was not so good in catch 22.
- Long walk from reception to your room - Stuffy room, no window, had door but you cant leave that open all night - No air conditioning, given the price paid and brand of hote - Shower took 10 minutes for hot water to come through - Receptionist next useless, told her what was wrong with the hotel, her reply 'sorry' no notes taken, in otherwords nothing will done about it - Breakfast was buffet stlyle and luke warm at best - Breakfast , the waiter brought coffee, but didnt explain system of ordering, when you get to the buffet it says tell the waiter what types of eggs you want, so back to your table to order the eggs then go back and get rest of breakfast!
Spacious, clean and fantastic surroundings. Comfortable bed and great quality linen. Lovely pool, but having towel pick up and drop off a walk through the gym not good when in dressing gown!
Breakfast was a bit generic- too much emphasis on packeted cereals etc, and croissants we had were uncooked in the middle. Would like to see more house- made produce please! however the scrambled eggs were creamy (a difficult one to get right in a heated tray!)
Nice food in Catch 22 restaurant Good film package on tv Good quality toiletries Nice bathroom with good hot shower Good size and comfortable bed
Very poor soundproofing, doors slamming, wardrobe doors sliding could be heard from next room(s) kept us awake most of the night. Noise could be heard from the nightclub in the basement of the main building. All in all barely slept!! Staffing at breakfast poor - had to chase up getting some coffee! Room needed maintenance - marks painted over stripes of deeper colours in places, looked unsightly. Needs repainting completely. Communal areas looking tatty too. All things considered, would not stay there again.
Dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch with the spa & pool at this hotel. The room was a double with 2 double beds which were very comfortable and a v nice bathroom with separate bath and shower.
The lift scared me with its 'creaky' noises but lovely stair case in the lobby which was fine for walking up but not with luggage!
The pool and the massive room.
Its miles from any where. But perfect for a quite weekend.
Room good size. Huge bed and very comfortable. Excellent facilities if you want an active break.
Although food was ok, restaurant service was very poor. Waited 20 mins for drinks after asking twice, requested bread basket never came, and we were never offered a sweet. Gave up waiting and left.
Clean. Quiet good food good staff pool.
Sauna not working. Food expensive . Adequate.
The beds were really comfortable, room was spacious and clean . Initially we were given a double room but there was no fuss in changing to a twin. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The sauna wasn't working throughout our stay which was a bit dissapointing as I had booked that hotel specifically as it had a pool, spa, sauna and steam room. I didn't book any treatments as the receptionist in the spa area spent ages chatting to a guest even though she could see I was waiting to be seen to. I gave up in the end.
Staff moved us upon complaint of extractor fan noise
Noise from extractor above room 211
The beds where fantastic and the hotel was in good condition , also quite picturesque with the local ducks ect .
The room was very hot and in need of air con and the breakfast was very expensive !
Good location and a lovely setting. Room was very nice. Gluten free dishes marked on the menu, and gluten free bread available on request. Thank you.
Reception operation was poor. We had to wait 15 minutes before even speaking to a receptionist. It was clear that many rooms were not ready (ever at 3.30pm) and we had to wait a further 40 minutes before being given a room. On check out the hotel computer system was not working, and we could not be shown a copy of our bill. (It has since been emailed). Unimpressed with the very ordinary restaurant, serving pub food at hotel prices. Disappointing, and not in keeping with the rest of the hotel, though the restaurant staff were very attentive.
Room was spacious and bed was great
Ordered ice to the room twice which never returned up. Ordered flowers to be in the room on arrival and didnt show up until 40 mins before check out. Wouldnt stay here again.
no air con in the village
- extremely comfortable bed - Aesthetically pleasing hotel
- Being charged on two cards for only one nights stay. - Room hadn't been cleaned properly before we arrived due to a room change from another customer.
The food and staff were very good, the hotel as a whole was quite nice and clean.
Our room was terrible! We stayed in one of the village suites, which had the name of 'Deluxe Double'... The room looked like it had been completely rushed to be cleaned, the bed wasn't made properly, we had someone else's filled out breakfast card from 3 days prior, and no new one was provided. Though the room appeard clean the curtains and carpet were noticeably stained and the walls were different colours where they had been washed down so many times. We had a small balcony to our room which was nice, except the whole door handle and lock mechanism came away from the door when your tried to use it exposing sharpe metal. The room was very hot and no fan was provided. We also had no dressing gown and slippers which was supposed to be a standard facility for all rooms! I wouldn't stay here again after this experience and I wouldn't rate it 'Deluxe' by any means, my partner and I have paid less and stayed in nicer places!
Bed was very comfortable, staff excellent, room beautiful location fantastic
Food was very expensive and not very good. Had room service after very long journey on business and chicken caesar salad was dry chicken and lettuce with sauce.
The bed was so comfortable and the view from the room was lovely room 309
The restaurant was very busy that night and we waited a long time for our meal but the staff were very attentive and did their best .
Nice quiet location. Good sized rooms
The room was located away from the main hotel on the upper floor. The balcony is a nice touch but was covered in cigarette butts. There was no mat inside the balcony door so the carpet looked like you could grow spuds in it. We booked a table at the hotel restaurant and were told that 7 pm was fully booked so a booking was made for 7:30 pm. When we arrived at 7:20 pm the place was half empty. My guess would be that the bookings were made to reflect the number of staff working. The overpriced steak was tough as old boots and the caramelized onions were just mush in gravy. My partners fish and chips were presented on a wooden board that was black and rotten around the edges. When I complained I got sarcastic comments from the "Restaurant Manager". The price of the fish and chips was removed from the bill but all in all not a good experience. Breakfast was included in the room rate and that experience wasn't a lot better than the night before, with a free for all at the buffet, not enough staff, a long wait for tea and coffee and sub standard food. My complaints were repeated at reception upon check out, to which I was asked "Apart from all that, was everything else OK?" !!!!
