Score from 318 reviews Very good
The location and the bed comfort was very nice.
Dirty frayed towels on arrival. Windows you could hardly see through filled with cobwebs and filth. Lack of staff. Spa which is far from welcoming. Food on bedroom floors. Generally an unclean hotel, where maintenance and upkeep are clearly not priority.
Friendly, obliging staff.
The mowing of the grass at 7am on Sunday morning was not helpful.
Great staff. Lovely peaceful and accessible location and grounds. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Very nice pool and spa facilities. Food very good.
Would have liked a bit more space in the bedroom, but layout was very good.
Everything ! Our room was fantastic, we stayed in the village room 708, lovely and quiet, clean, spacious, the bed was wonderful and massive ! Bathroom has a seperate shower and bath which were both big enough for two ! A balcony which did not have a great view ...but you wont want to spend any amount of time out there anyway. Want to go again....!
Having to go home :(( !!!
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT AND MORE THAN EXPECTED . UPGRADED BY CHARLIE AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED MADE US FEEL IMPORTANT. EVENING MEAL HOST ATTENDED TO US WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. CANT WAIT TO RETURN
I loved my stay at the hotel, the surroundings where beautiful, the staff were polite and looked smart and approachable. The food in the restaurant was super and was served quickly. Our room was beautiful and the bed was SO comfy - i had a brilliants night sleep.
Quietness , in the village area was excellent !!!! Parking easy !!!
Table and chairs outside the room would have been nice ??? Apart from that nothing really
Beautiful hotel lovely setting, facilities were good a lot of activities to choose from and a comfortable clean room.
the customer service didn't suit the hotel, the staff didn't make me feel welcome and seemed reluctant in making any effort when greeting us. Overall it was worth the money I would go again, Customer services however was disappointing.
All sports facilities, comfortable bed well maintained grounds
big room nice pool, sauna and steam room lovely surroundings very quiet
bedding was a bit too warm for the summer
Polite professional staff, clean hotel and good foid
I had a terrible experience in the restaurant. My starter had a hair in it and was ridiculously small. I was appalled and duly complained. Even though we were very hungry I asked them to cancel our meal. We asked for a taxi to be called to take us to an other place to eat. This was proving difficult due to the lateness of the hour and the hotels location. The manager came to speak to me and my parter. She was excellent in handling things and offered to take us herself to the other place. She even phoned to book us a table but in doing so found that they had stopped doing food. She should be commended for her above and beyond the call of duty attitude which was what convinced us to stay the second of the two nights.
We had a horrendous experience in the restaurant on the first night of our two night stay. We ordered starters mains and bottle of wine. We were sipping our wine in a relaxed mood after an earlier swim and waited for the first course to arrive. I was expecting a starter worthy of the £12 price tag !! So was very shocked by the poor excuse for scallops that arrived. It was not whole scallops but 3 small pieces of a whole one and the sauce was was almost non existent. This was bad enough but then I saw a thick black hair in the pea sauce !! Needless to say we didnt want to continue with the meal and asked to leave...see above for details of how it was handled. In the end we had no choice because of the hotels location to eat the main course we had ordered as we could not drive having had a drink. On our second night we didn't drink alcohol and went for food elsewhere. All in all o e of the worst hotel weekends away we have ever had !!!
Could have been cleaner considering it's a four star hotel
Extremely clean and well presented room.
We were put in a room kitted out for a disabled person which didn't need so the bathroom fittings were too low for us. Check this when you book!
Lovely balcony and views
Breakfast wasn't great , but ok for buffet.
A lovely relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, lovely restaurants and wonderful spa! Only stayed for one night but felt like we were on holiday.
The restaurant had run out of our preferred meal choice.
Staff were friendly, lots of facilities if needed.
When I booked a king room, I thought I would have aircon as it stated the rooms would have aircon. Didn't make it clear I would be in a village room which didn't have aircon - check this especially in the summer when the air is warm and stuffy. Luckily for us the day we arrived it had rained and wasn't so hot.
The rooms we're very well decorated and comfortable. Restaurant catch 22 was nice and quiet on a Friday night. Cooked breakfast was one of the best we've have at a hotel.
Bathroom very dated. Presentation and length of time to wait for dessert was not so good in catch 22.
- Long walk from reception to your room - Stuffy room, no window, had door but you cant leave that open all night - No air conditioning, given the price paid and brand of hote - Shower took 10 minutes for hot water to come through - Receptionist next useless, told her what was wrong with the hotel, her reply 'sorry' no notes taken, in otherwords nothing will done about it - Breakfast was buffet stlyle and luke warm at best - Breakfast , the waiter brought coffee, but didnt explain system of ordering, when you get to the buffet it says tell the waiter what types of eggs you want, so back to your table to order the eggs then go back and get rest of breakfast!
Spacious, clean and fantastic surroundings. Comfortable bed and great quality linen. Lovely pool, but having towel pick up and drop off a walk through the gym not good when in dressing gown!
Breakfast was a bit generic- too much emphasis on packeted cereals etc, and croissants we had were uncooked in the middle. Would like to see more house- made produce please! however the scrambled eggs were creamy (a difficult one to get right in a heated tray!)
Nice food in Catch 22 restaurant Good film package on tv Good quality toiletries Nice bathroom with good hot shower Good size and comfortable bed
Very poor soundproofing, doors slamming, wardrobe doors sliding could be heard from next room(s) kept us awake most of the night. Noise could be heard from the nightclub in the basement of the main building. All in all barely slept!! Staffing at breakfast poor - had to chase up getting some coffee! Room needed maintenance - marks painted over stripes of deeper colours in places, looked unsightly. Needs repainting completely. Communal areas looking tatty too. All things considered, would not stay there again.
Dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch with the spa & pool at this hotel. The room was a double with 2 double beds which were very comfortable and a v nice bathroom with separate bath and shower.
The lift scared me with its 'creaky' noises but lovely stair case in the lobby which was fine for walking up but not with luggage!
The pool and the massive room.
Its miles from any where. But perfect for a quite weekend.
Room good size. Huge bed and very comfortable. Excellent facilities if you want an active break.
Although food was ok, restaurant service was very poor. Waited 20 mins for drinks after asking twice, requested bread basket never came, and we were never offered a sweet. Gave up waiting and left.
Clean. Quiet good food good staff pool.
Sauna not working. Food expensive . Adequate.
