Lovely house and rooms, food.and spa facilties very good, also room service big plus will definitely come again.staff friendly and helpful Generally very nice inded.9/10 DVD players very good addition (as long as they work!!!!!!!!!!!) Bar/ dining room cold, food a bit pricey but not excessive wine expensive Fire not made up only smouldering ,we were looking forward to log fire but did nt get one effectively!!! A real fire is a big plus as it lends a comforting romantic ambience but we didn t get one!! Big disappointment !!! Only 4 TV channels on room TV my friend wanted to watch ch 5 but couldn't.I wanted to watch other channels. It would be better to have Freeview. My friends DVD player (Room 4) was not working so she couldn t watch her dvds in her room again a big disappointment having just spent £22 buying series 2 of Downton Abbey and then couldn t watch them. Couldn t phone my friend on internal phone directly-had to go via reception.took a long time before we were told this Told this would be fixed but wasn't.

Breakfast very good. Staff pleasant. A dog friendly hotel that I was not aware of and did not like the fact I was staying in a room that had been shared with dogs! Restaraunt food was expensive and not good value, I ordered a Leek and Mushroom Tart which was a starter portion. Hotel in parts very run down and changing facilities at the leisure spa need upgrading. Pool good size and jacuzzi worked well, but needs a good clean!

The Receptionist on duty during our stay (Sunday 2nd October) was excellent. Regrettably I didn't get her name but I have stayed in the very best hotels worldwide and I have to tell you that girl was superb. Nothing was too much trouble, she listened, she made time for us, and always with a smile and with courtesy. Give her a big pay rise because she deserves it.Her service is the only reason for taking the time to answer your questionnaire. Not your fault but the weather was freakishly hot and our room was uncomfortablt warm. Not worth installing air conditioning!

Very pleasant, welcomingand helpful staff. We travelled with our 6 year old daughter and were not made to feel awkward in any way which can sometimes happen when travelling with a child. Had dinner in the resturant one night, good service and food. They had a childrens menu but said that any meal from the menu could be prepared as a smaller portion. Breakfast was excellent - best i've ever had in a hotel! Facilities were good, pool excellent. Lovely setting. Our room was very large, plenty of room. Hotel had a lounge area with games and tv. Grounds were nice. Good location. Cleaning not great - bin not emptied and room not cleaned properly from previous guest. Shower / plumbing were a bit erratic although it is an old building. Parking was very difficult. No reseved space for hotel guests and we were concerned that after an evening out we would not get parked - receptionist kindly said she would move her car for us. The path from the lower car park is not lit. Although there were three of us we were only given towels and cups / glasses for two. More were provided when requested. The hotel still has smoking rooms, which oddly seem to be the larger rooms which they then use as family rooms. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor to our room and the area by our door, although the room itself was ok. There was a lack of storage space in the room. Wardrobe a good size but not enough drawers.

Very comfortable room and so much peace and quiet. We were grateful for the offer of being upgraded to an even nicer room, too, because it was available. There was an excellent exercise room. Breakfast was first-rate.

Very attentive, responsive, young staff. Hotel tranquillity/setting. Flexible approach to dining. Beautiful breakfast and restaurant ambience/outlook. Food presentation & taste. Hot water is dangerously hot if you have youngsters. Bathroom style/decor was a little tired.

The location is great and the conservatory and breakfast where good The hotel is tired and needs updating. The first night we stayed in a standard double which was a hot, dark attic room with a bathroom that had a drainage problem. We paid to upgrade to a superior room which was much better but I think £125 for the first room we had was really overpriced.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our two dogs were welcomed, and the bar/restaurant staff went out of their way to accommodate us at meal times, setting up a table in the bar area so we could sit with the dogs as we ate dinner and breakfast. The decor did look a little bit tired in places.
