The Plough Inn is a 16th-century inn which has kept some original features such as its thatched roof and Inglenook fireplace.
Score from 174 reviews Good
The Inn was quaint! I knew the floors would be uneven and the rooms smallish. They were very clean, though, and the bathroom great, the bed comfy and the staff were very helpful! A beautiful location and a friendly breakfast chef!!
Beautiful Location Very Clean Fantastic Food
Pub not open all day every day we were not able to get food when we arrived as they were closing 4pm
Room was clean and a good value breakfast in the morning. Good position for exploring the area.
Pub was shut on a Sunday evening, the Abbey clock chime is a bit annoying at 3am!
The food was excellent and the Landlord and Landlady were most helpful
On the middle day of our 3 day stay the room wasn't serviced.
Lots of noise from downstairs The hotel WIFI did not work and it's more or less impossible to get a signal on your phone, which is not good trying to retrieve emails etc
friendly staff picturesque and historic good welcome lovely breakfast
no veggie option for breakfast no toiletries
A friendly welcome, good tasty food and a very comfortable nights sleep.
Opening at 6pm on the Tuesday of arrival.
Closure on Sunday evening and all day Monday.
The Food is amazing. This pub has got so much character you will want to go back time and time again. Just off the Thames path you can walk and walk and walk in wonderful countryside.
Closed on Sunday nights but they desrve a break
The staff were very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Peter and Liz went out of their way to assist. Food was excellent.
Great experience all around. Beautiful place.
Location is excellent.
Staff / Owners were very rude. I felt I paid a lot for what I got and I am a very frequent traveller.
Nice village location good size room
Whole bar area taken over by archaeological dig both morning and evening. No wifi
Food Ambience Style Location
Corridors to bedrooms good be updated (Paint & Carpet)
The food was excellent. The room was very pleasant. Fabulous big bath. Great old building. The lovely hosts and chef. I wouldn't have any problems staying there again even with the couple of small issues.
The damp on bathroom wall, probably because it was an old building. The sharp corners on the bed end which I had forgotten about till I banged into it.
We had to go into the kitchen to find someone to check us in (check-in > 18:00). Pub was accupied by a group of students having a meal. Same thing next morning. Airconditioning unit right outside the window kept us awake. We left after one night.
The food was excellent there is an amazing chef here
Food was absolutely fantastic... Really, really good; regardless of price (which was very good as well)... Room was absolutely fine... Very quaint... Elizabeth and lad serving breakfast were good hosts.
The owner could be quite abrupt... Never full on rude but he could be very abrupt and impatient... Even worse, he was inconsistent as he could be polite when he wanted to be. Maybe he was just hassled as they had a group of students taking meals at the restaurant but we all noticed it and it would make me think about recommending the hotel.
Room had character. Shower gel was provided. Comfortable bed The village location was lovely.
Arrangements for breakfast were unclear. Ensuite floor could have been cleaner
Very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Friendly people.
Not open till 6 o'clock. I am not sure what would have happened had I tried to check in earlier.
The historical nature of both the inn and the village. I imagine the inn to be very cosy in winter especially. Nice to have a convenient drink at the bar before bedtime...
The regular abbey clock chimes didn't bother us but the rather 'drippy' bathroom noises did!
Very friendly staff. Food was excellent.
Hand towels missing from bathrooms but otherwise very good.
Lovely accommodation and location. Very good food and ale. Pleasant staff. Would recommend.
No shower in bathroom
comfortable beds, nice old fashioned deep bath. made very welcome and excellent breakfast
Narrow entrance to car park could cause problems with large vehicles
The relaxed friendly atmosphere and excellent food, easy parking.
