Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The room was very pleasant and ideal for a romantic stay. The evening meal at the Manor was very good indeed and well worth booking as part of the stay.

Nice grounds and quirky, typical country house. Very dated inside, expected Basil Fawlty to turn up! The rooms in the annex were noisy, could hear every footstep of the person in the room above.

The food for breakfast was vey good - The Staff very co-operative. We only had the one night at the Manor. The Hotel was very comfortable regarding temperature, however the room we had No.2 Was on the chilly side I did speak to the reception of this on our departure who then explained the situation on this situation. This is not a complaint

Very convenient location for m1 motor way (not too close ! )For us it was half way between our home & where we were going (Sheffield) for a night's break. It provided good food, comfortable/attractive rooms; full of character. It was good value for money..We just liked the place and the people

Location, hotel is friendly and comfortable, food is good The atmosphere has deteriorated since I was last there as the sardine dishes (and other things?) have been removed from the lounge. Also there were ornaments missing from the mantle piece in the small dining room and the room was rather stark. Very disappointing as I had told my girlfriend about the great ambience of the hotel. Before the above changes the hotel was perfect.

The bedroom was very large and spacious and the decor was in keeping with the building. The restaurant was quiet and the music fitted the surroundings. The food was very good but see below. The restaurant staff were very accomodating however. The grounds are lovely. The bed was the hardest bed I've ever slept in which for some will suit but for anyone with bad shoulders or hips it will be a problem. Likewise the pillows were hard. The food was lovely but my choice of starter and my husbands' choice of main were not available. Rather begs the question why they were on the menu? The bathroom was a bit small and like many hotels the shower door over the bath meant that the floor became a swimming pool. The shelf in the bathroom was taken up with products so there was nowhere to put washbags etc. Also no towel rail so nowhere to dry towels. No lift so bags had to be carried upstairs. Our room was right next to the linen store and over the restaurant so despite asking for a quiet room we were woken at 0630 by the staff setting up. Other things missing were coasters with drinks and napkins and plates with cake in the afternoon.

Beautiful building and setting. The hotel seemed short of staff, and the reception desk was just a table in the hall, which was not manned. To get the attention of a receptionist was difficult at times even though the hotel did not appear to be busy.

Good location for visiting my family in Flitwick The window shutters would not close, did not fit properly. Although ham was offered on the breakfast menu we were told that none was available as it hadn't arrived yet, although we did not go to breakfast until 9am,

“I am always a little dubious about staying at a hotel which is part of a large chain, however this hotel did not feel like that at all. The staff were very accommodating, the room I stayed in was absolutely spotless and very quiet. There was a lovely tranquil patio area with water feature where we could enjoy a drink before our dinner. The evening menu was excellent, and the taste was fantastic - not what you would expect from a hotel. I would definately stay here again if the need arose.” Kate, Abingdon, Oxfordshire |
