In the heart of Portsmouth, the ibis budget Portsmouth is just a 6-minute drive from Southsea beach. It is also a 3-minute walk from Fratton Park, the home of Portsmouth Football Club.
Score from 1164 reviews Good
Great location, within 5 minutes from the train station and a short walk into the town for most shops, restaurants and the port. Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, modern facilities. Good shower. Lovely outside facilities with a peaceful garden. Good breakfast offering. Had a wonderful week here!
The corridors were quite noisy in the mornings with people going down to breakfast and the cleaners starting their day which woke us up on a couple of mornings we'd planned to have a lie-in. Requested a room that overlooked the lake when we booked, not realising that only the suites had this option, but it would have been nice if we'd have been given a room that over-looked the pool instead, rather than the main road.
Close proximity to centre, lovely fresh bright and airy bedrooms, good evening meal,
Pre cooked buffet breakfast was looking a bit tired by 9.0 am
The proximity to Brittany Ferries, the quiet street and therefore quiet sleep. We took an evening meal at the Bistro; the food was good. The breakfast in the morning had plenty of choice.
A beautiful house, well styled and comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay.
Breakfast was enjoyable but a wider menu would have made the stay perfect
View from the window overlooking the harbour. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
Great, tranquil location. Very new, clean, high quality furnishings. Tastefully decorated. Pleasant staff.
The noise (people talking & laughing, glasses / plates clinking, music playing, etc.) frombar / restaurant on the ground travels up the staircase and into the rooms. I found this annoying.
Position of Hotel Staff very helpful when we could not get a parking spot - found us one within a few minutes
Very small bathroom Small/tight area getting into wardobe
Staff were very welcoming and friendly had good local knowledge. The room & guest areas were exceptionally clean. Food on offer was varied tasty and reasonably priced.
Parking off road is on a first come first served basis, this would not normally have been an issue for us but as we had a hire car we were anxious to get it off road, but the staff did resolve this for us.
Everything about the place.
No hotel parking...Street parking a first come first serve option.
The helpful staff. Made us feel really welcome and spoilt us. We arrived 5 hours too early but they went all out of their way to get us a room asap. Meanwhile we were served tea. The breakfast table was set lovingly and thoughtful.
Clean, well looked after and well presented. Nice finishing touches and in a good location. Breakfast was fab!!!
Unfortunately the reception on the tv was extremely poor, picture being distorted and unable to be watched but this didn't affect our stay as we were out for most of the evening.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for buses to the historic dockyards and restaurants/ bars in the evening.
Room was quite warm and the duvet thick. Provision of sheets and blankets as an alternate in the summer with fans (in the absence of air conditioning) would be great.
The Kitchen restaurant at Florence Gardens had a pleasant atmosphere and the meal delicious . All the staff were helpful and friendly. Booked a Small Double Room which was clean and tidy and adequate for a one night stay. Convenient location to catch early morning ferry.
Quite a stylish place. Friendly people. Food good in restaurant and they gave us sandwiches for the ferry because we left before breakfast started.
Room a little on the small side. I left my electric toothbrush and they are sending it on, but only when I have sent them an envelope to do so and made a rapid guess at what price stamp to put on the envelope without having the weight of the toothbrush to work it our exactly. Irritating, eh?
On arrival we were very surprised to be offered a cup of tea or coffee whilst they took care of our bags all day.
Great welcome rooms small but delightful, excellent food and great location for exploring Portsmouth and surrounding area. Be aware of parking restrictions on arrival.
Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble. Very clear and in quite location.
Only room for one person to move around at any one time. Very little storage space.
Bedrooms decor excellent & bathroom well appointed,
Breakfast had a very poor continental selection & bistro is a bit misleading as just a room off the reception with nil atmosphere,
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean and have a nice decor.
Apart from the gap under the door which let in light everything else was great
The staff were professional but also friendly and attentive. The room was a small double but absolutely fine for us. I love the way they had decorated this hotel with modern facilities but also Victorian type tiles. The chandelier in the bistro was constructed from empty wine glasses. The food was very good and beautifully presented with excellent wine served in big glasses.
There isn't anything I didn't like about this hotel
Bedding comfort Shower Toiletries Helpful staff Great value for money
- Being on the top floor, the room was VERY hot and a fan would have been very useful. - No designated disabled parking for my elderly parents - Coffee was dried up and not enough milk sachets in room
We stayed on two different nights (either side of a trip to France) and in two different rooms. Both were well equipped and, although small, made good use of the space. Breakfast was very good and we were fed in the Bistro on arriving late, which was very useful.
The slats on the bed had broken making a very uncomfortable night's sleep (we didn't discover this until the morning.) The pillows and duvet weren't of great quality.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was ideally located. We enjoyed our breakfast in the mornings.
Our floor in our bathroom appeared to be in a poor state.
We loved the personal enthusiastic service and the late night food. The arrangement in a number of houses is unusual but works well. Our shower room was excellent.
The broken bed left us with a poor night's sleep. The mattress and pillows were not of great quality.
Arrived late because of ferry. Very welcoming. Offered us drinks . breakfast very good.
