Location in the heart of western lakes, peaceful, quiet, amazing choice for brekkie (inc veggie), not too many tourists around this part of the lakes, comfortable beds, great pub walking distance. Great mountain hikes nearby.

Shared facilities (we obviously knew at booking), room hot, nothing else to note

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Excellent breakfast. Strong WiFi signal in the house.

Dogs being allowed in the bedroom(s) of fellow guests, although it must be said, these were well behaved and did not disturb.

Location was great and very nice views. Staff friendly and attentive during breakfast time. The whole place was very clean as well.

TV was small and old-fashioned Furniture was old dated Bed was too small for 2 people Price was too high for our 1 bedroom with shared bathroom, not value for money in our case.

Friendly owners. Good breakfast selection (Gluten Free cereal). Restful location.

Mattress did not have much cushioning from the springs, an upgrade needed.

John and Debs are very welcoming, rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast was served in the conservatory which enable you to have a view of the local wildlife, which included numerous red squirrels. Really felt at home here and would definitely reccomend anyone to stay here, a Hidden Gem!!!

It was a truly beautiful place to stay. If you enjoy wildlife and walking its perfect. I woke up to see the deer in the orchard outside our bedroom window, a wonderful start to our weekend. Watching the red squirrels and different types of birds whilst having breakfast [ a fantastic Full English] was wonderful. Extremely friendly owners, dog friendly. The stars are amazing to look at . We are definitely going again and have recommended it to our friends. 10 out of 10 from us.

Hosts Deb and John very easy-going and helpful with good tips even for seasoned walkers who knew the area! Breakfasts truly wonderful and catered for all diets. Main course: choice of full English, smoked haddock, kippers, porridge (best I have ever had!) All cooked to perfection. Great views of red squirrels, jays and many garden birds from breakfast room, plus deer in garden on one occasion. Bed was comfy. Room smallish but fine and we had our dog with us who Deb and John made a great fuss of! Nice view of garden and countryside from our room. En suite shower room modern and spotless. Walks right from the door: low and high level. Cosy guest room with roaring log fire each evening. Fresh milk available if you want it. Can take own alcoholic drinks there. Decent pub food nearby at George IV and Brook House Inn. No piped music during breakfast, just peace and friendly chats.

There was nothing we didn't like; it was fantastic!

The guest house owners were very helpful in suggesting places to visit, very friendly and treated more than family than strangers. We travelled with 2 dogs and they were also made welcome, full use of the garden, brilliant breakfast and to see so much wildlife in the garden was the icing on the cake for us. We spent 4 nights at Forest How and will definately be booking again, very highly recommended.

Leaving at the end of our stay!

Fabulous breakfasts with a garden full of wild birds and a view of the peaceful Dale. The gardens are peaceful spot in the countryside and two pubs are a short walk away. For those hiking there is also the advantage of a heated room specifically for drying out wet gear.
