Score from 99 reviews Very good 8.4/10
It was peaceful, in a very busy tourist area. Feeding the badgers was extra special.
That its being made over next week.
Location was very good and no problem parking. Apartment was adequate for our purpose and comfortable. Certainly value for money.
Outside apartment could have been a bit tidier. Would have loved to take a brush and sweep the pathways. Also, speed bumps in the driveway are to me, unnecessary, particularly the one nearest to the hotel. Grounded the underside of the car but no serious damage.
The location is excellent. Great walks on your doorstep. It is an easy walk into Grasmere which is a lovely village with a range of good places to eat. We ate at Forest Side on our first night. The food was simple and there was plenty of it. The nightly badger feeding was the highlight for us. Pedro was a very friendly and obliging host who made our stay very pleasant.
The lounge area including the wild life.
Shower curtain in the apartment and WiFi issues, no connection.
Quirky, friendly hotel where they feed the badgers in the evening for all to see. Proximity to Grasmere and the Lakes.
Food in the hotel very average, bathrooms not great in room - poor shower, not good after long walks. Hotel is being renovated - it needs it and will be amazing.
it's excellent!!! i have neven seen such a nice hotel in my life. i have been to many countires in the world, this is the best one i have ever seen!
nothing i don;t like here
Relaxed and informal atmosphere. Good breakfasts, lovely grounds including badgers.
The curtains did not block out the light at all.
access to good walks
Very helpful and accommodating staff. We'll priced and a great location
Excellent location and for the price the basic rooms are very reasonable a good place for single travelers to explore the Lakes. Good breakfast.Drying room for wet stuff. Cosy Victorian hotel with pleasant relaxing grounds and at dusk badgers come to feed on the scraps of food put out for them by the hotel staff.
Cheapest rooms are not ensuite but at quiet times you may find you are the only one using the shared facilities. For the price there has to be some catch but when I visited it really wasn't a problem.
the fact that i booked a room with a four poster bed and we my wife and i ended up with a room with three single beds all separated this is the first time in our 35years of marriage we have been apart (sleepwise)
Location wonderful for our weekend in the Lakes, wildlife amazing,Hotel very clean,Staff friendly.Had a great time.
The room we booked-standard double was not the one in the picture, this turned out to be the executive double,(this maybe needs sorting to save confusion)however we were kindly switched to a four poster room. Minor gripes, bathroom bit cold Shower either cold or burning hot
Wonderful surroundings, brilliant location and fantastic wild life to see. Staff were most informative.
Was put in the annexe wich we did not no about no mention of it on the website would not have booked if I had known
Everything, very relaxing stay. Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Good comfy bed and excellent breakfast. Thanks Again.
Kept bumping my head on the ceiling lamp! I'm too tall!
Room had cobwebs, toilet flushed one in 5 attempts, room very dark .
Small shower. Disappointing steak.
room not serviced
friendly atmosphere -and the badgers!!
slightly hammock like bed
Food excellent. Staff friendly and eager to please. Grounds lovely. Amazing to see the badgers and fox out of the lounge window in the early evening.
Location, Location, Location... didn't use the car all the time I was there
Service was a bit rushed and un-coordinated.
The setting of the hotel was absolutely lovely and within walking distance into Grassmere. Being able to watch the badgers at night was amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful. If we go back to the Lake District I would definitely stay here again
There wasn't anything we didn't like. The buffet breakfast was good but I am someone who likes my food really hot but that is a personal preference
obviously the superb location, the lovely staff and delicious food, a great place to relax, many thanks
Well,my first impression of my little room in the lodge was abit dissapointing, it did smell abit musty, afew cobwebs in the corners and the ceiling, we were expecting to stay in the main hotel, never mind,
location good, staff very good, wildlife v v v good
I loved the location of this hotel, the staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. Unfortunately, was to busy to get to see the badgers, but perhaps next time. Breakfast was very nice.
