A relaxing Elizabethan Manor House which maintains its character and architectural features, with a great oak door giving access to the reception.
Score from 162 reviews Very good
In the heart of the Wye Valley, this traditional English country Inn overlooks the River Wye and ancient Goodrich Castle. It offers a modern Restaurant Grill and bright, airy rooms.
Score from 434 reviews Very good
Newly refurbished, Torlands is a stylish B&B set just 2 minutes’ drive from the town of Monmouth. It offers guests free on-site parking and free Wi-Fi access. There is also a lounge and a sun terrace....
Score from 68 reviews Exceptional
On the idyllic banks of the Wye River, this 15th-century pub offers bright rooms with free Wi-Fi and spectacular countryside views. It serves fresh, seasonal food and local real ales.
Score from 102 reviews Excellent
good clean hotel with attentive staff, great views from room, excellent breakfast, great place for solitude & walking, super pub food and ale just 4 mins walk away.
instant coffee for breakfast, no wifi coverage in bedroom, noisy fire doors in corridor (only a problem because of inconsiderate guests getting up at 5.30 to go out fishing!)
Great location with fab view from the bedroom window. We were in a deluxe type room which was worth the extra £10 for the night
A torch would be useful for walking back in the dark if eating out at one of the neighbouring establishments
Location was excellent , and very hospitable during our stay a good breakfast ....
Bed was uncomfortable , and being approached to pay for our evening meal , straight after , would have been better to pay at the checkout time ....
you was made very welcome my wife went to pay the bill about 13 00 hrs on monday and was given keys as the room were ready very good service made very wecome
The room had beautiful views, the bed was comfortable and the temperature was nice. Breakfast was cooked well and of a good size
Hand held shower was difficult to use and the water pressure was very poor so mixing the hot and cold was almost impossible.
Lovely friendly staff, and excellent breakfast and evening meal. HOT food, lovingly cooked by Stefan, in a beautiful location.
Bed was a bit soft, but thats personal preference
Had a most enjoyable couple of nights at the forest view B and B ! Location and accommodation superb ! Would recommend it to anyone !
Location fantastic Bedrooms clean and modern Breakfasts very good and waiting staff good. Evening meal excellent. Staff
No dedicated residents lounge. Landlord, uses it as his personal lounge and asked us all one night to go to bed at 9.30pm as he had 24 breakfasts to do in the morning. Also said he couldn't turn thermostat up in a bedroom that was very cold as it was his heating oil.
Being able to leave the car there after checking out - was able to do a good walk around the Wye valley meanders. Liked the chef (Steffan) coming round to see that everyone had enjoyed their breakfast
Location by the river!
Price of food was extortionate in the guest house and in neighbouring hotels.
close to couple of pubs beautiful location and views from room. lovely and clean. need to book table for food in other pubs as very busy and none available
not full selection at bar ok if you liked spirits or wine. bit too regimented for breakfast and having to order it the night before, so if you changed your mind you had to have what you ordered previous night .wanted to chill a bit felt like you had to do as you were told wold like to have relaxed a little bit more
Josie, Stefan and staff are very welcoming and enthusiastic. Hotel room location outstanding, beautiful views down the River Wye. Very clean and 3 great nights sleep .A good, clean presented tasty, although sparse cooked breakfast, but other options like cereals, fruit salad haddock and eggs were available.
Poor mobile phone and Wifi signal, not a major issue if your not wanting to communicate but sometimes needed. Having to pre order breakfast the night before and hope you got the time slot you wanted which in our case, as we were there purely for leisure, as late as possible, having to set the alarm (07.30) so we were up in time for breakfast slots between 0815 and 08.45 was not very relaxing.
Not being told we could not order food after 6.00pm following a two hour journey and arriving at 6.15pm. This should be made clear when booking. Also there is a £20 fine if you purchase a takeaway and bring it back to your room.
Location, easy access to activities
The food was exceptional. Homemade to perfection, will travel back just for the bread and butter pudding.
We were lucky and had a room with a fantastic view over the Wye in a place that is just beautiful. The room was comfortable and breakfast adequate. The proprietor was most friendly.
It was a cold night but there was no heating on. The panoramic double-glazed windows were dripping wet with condensation which made the room damp. The bathroom was a little cramped. The main door was fitted with a French window that had a tripping hazard.
Gorgeous location, very helpful staff
Lovely river views spacious bedroom nice and clean evening meal was very good breakfast was very good, all round enjoyable stay
The view .room .dining room and bar very nice generally very comfortable and clean,
Food was adequate but a little sparse ,the evening meal was overpriced for what it was and the menu very limited . The comparison with nearby competitors was very unfavourable. recent change of owner (18 days ago) and resultant inexperience possibly accounted for this.
Friendly welcome, nice breakfast,grear view
Not a lot
We were greeted by Josie and Steve who were very friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent with stunning views of the river and valley from our bedroom window. Our room was a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing haven. Breakfast was tasty and well cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we felt it was fantastic value.
the view from the room window was lovely, the breakfast was lovely too!!
the t.v was too small
I like the location and the veiw and the room i more Like the dining room its magical veiw i like the hotel main gate entrence its like a palace i love this place
The phone signal is poor
Good view of river. Friendly staff.
Not entirely clean - cobwebs inside windows. Breakfast not included in price. Difficult to get to.
The view from the room.
Not being told there was a change of ownership, and that the new owner had never run this sort of business before. Having to give detailed breakfast order by 6 pm. The en suite (and v. poor shower). Limited restaurant facilities nearby. Not a place for older people.
