Good location Warm rooms (January'15) Helpful staff
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
Shower was difficult to adjust
The staff, on the whole were friendly and helpful. I guess due to economics, the receptionist was wearing many hats, which led to delays. This is a Hotel that has lacked investment, it was stated that this was being addressed by the latest owners. The room was clean and the food very good.
The bed, room 108 was small and very uncomfortable
difficulty in adjusting heating, making the room too hot for comfort
Location - Brockenhurst is a pleasant Forest town and the hotel itself is literally on the edge of the Forest Food - the meal we ate in the restaurant was superb and very well priced considering the quality. Breakfast was good although could have been a slightly wider range on the buffet Entertainment - ok so a one off as New Year but the band and fireworks were perfect, not over the top and very much of the 'local pub' type. We would definitely come back next year if the same Staff - without exception everyone we met, spoke to or dealt with were friendly, helpful and courteous General ambience and decor of entrance hall, you don't see so many suits of armour in hotels these days ; )
£99 per room without brekkie was very good value for New Years Eve, not so sure during the rest of the year though Some parts of the hotel look a little unloved and in need of decoration but apparently a refurb programme is under way (our room was prefectly acceptable for the price) Reviews - some of the reviews are a little off putting, my suggestion is you ignore them, pay Forest Park Hotel a visit and judge for yourself, I think you will have a very pleasant experience
Was cold due to main radiator not working. Room did come with a little electric one but it didn't look very safe so did not leave on over night.
The staff was courteous enough in their greeting and managing my luggage before I could check in.
I did not stay for long.it was just a night's stopover, however the check in and checkout timings are odd....I get to check in by 3 and next morning by 11am I am out of the hotel...seems unfair for the price.
Location room size view garden restaurant and lounges
Damp on walls small bath water not so hot internet not working in our room only downstairs breakfast more expensive than was stated on phone
When you walk in a lovely fire and a totally different experience from what you expect outside. This property has so much potential and while improvements are going on I suggest some speeding up. Made to feel most welcome and would have liked to stay longer.
Returning in foot in the evening I was surprised there was no sign lights on. Not tempting enough for the customer from the outside. Get people in and then you will start building business. Appalled at the unkept appearance outside. Sweep leaves up and make the entrance inviting !!!
very good staff
Very tired accommodation
Reception staff were very helpful and attentive.
Poor lighting throughout. Slow service in the bar. Poor water pressure made room shower very difficult to adjust.
We enjoyed our stay, liked the location, facilities and food.
The soap found in our room but again we did not have time to complain.
Pleasant staff. Didn't have breakfast. Nice quiet cocktail lounge.
TV reception very poor
Oldie worldie place, nice location, superb staff, excellent food and good prices
Poor condition of the bath in room 4
location of the hotel, food was good and the entertainment in the bar on saturday was excellent.
all ok,bit odd that there was no shampoo etc in the rooms. but we had our own.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. Log fire in the lobby area. Very dog friendly - able to take our three dogs in the bar while we had an evening meal. Food was good value and top quality.
The hotel was a little bit tired and could do with a makeover
The Public Rooms (welcoming and with the character of great rural comfort). The Location (right in the Forest, yet near to a village - with the best cream teas in the Forest). The Hotel has the potential to become a lovely Forest retreat. I would love to come back - but only after the bedrooms are refurbished.
The bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms (and the pipework) were in dire need of refurbishment. I understand that this will be taking place after Xmas with the aim of being complete by the 2015 Summer Season. In their present condition I do not think that the rate charged was appropriate.
The oldy worldy ambience, the location (on the Rhinefield Drive) the log fire, the great staff.
Over-priced food. Needs a refurb but will soon get one, we gather.
Breakfast - OK
No lighting in bathroom - no central heating throughout stay - carpet very badly stained/marked - room telephone not working/found to be no telephone plug-in point - general decorative state of room. (Have already sent these comments direct to the hotel).
Staff were great , food was brilliant had full English breakfast , lunch and evening meal there stayed two nights. Could not fault them had a great stay lovely location
only thing was the shower in our room , the soak away had a funny pump action which I managed to flood the bathroom
Lovely friendly staff (who were nice to us even after my friend set the hotel fire alarm off at breakfast). Good Location and beautiful grounds.
Hotel decour is very tired. Cooked breakfast was good in terms of quantity, but eggs were rubbery and porridge was very watery.
Beautiful grounds and building. Friendly staff. Choice of Bar or Restaurant for dinner.
Rooms are in need of a revamp but this didn't hinder out stay.
Location was good Breakfast was ok Evening meal was nice
The room as really dated, the bathroom old and rusty, and limited soaps (one small bar) no other toiletries...
The room was large. I also had a nice view on the first floor of the garden.
The staff just don`t seem to care. I wonder if the owner cares. The whole hotel is in dire need of renovation. The pictures of what you see on this site will not be what you get. What you see all looks like new. What you get is a worn out room, with broken lights, broken sink, broken heaters, peeling wall paper and stains on the wall. Did not enjoy my stay here. I think it is over priced for what you get. The menu is poor too. We chose somewhere else to eat. I wanted a bit more choice than curry, or fish and chips. Its a shame. Its in a good location and that is about all I can say
Staff and food very good as was location.
Deliveries at 5am, emptying outside bins at 9pm every evening and having a room at front of hotel.
