It was a very relaxing cosy hotel. Stayed with family, which catered for our group very well. Good location Toilet smell on the ground floor, leading My Cheese & Mushroom Omelette was very greasy on Sunday lunch,

The magnificent and unchanging entrance. The friendly welcome and staff. The overall ambiance. The beds are too hard.

Wonderful location right in the New Forest on the outskirts of Brockenhurst. Open fire in the bar. Minimal but efficient staff. Comfortable bedroom of good size. The king size bed was a bit too firm for our liking, but otherwise everything was all right.

I had a lovely view and the hot water was always available for a bath. The room was reasonable price and I was left to my own devices which I like. The fire was lit in the lobby on my second day which made it more cosy. THe mattress was uncomfortable. The smell in the hall as I walked up to my room was not as fresh as I would like.

Very traditional and homely, with the New Forest on the doorstep. Restaurant food was excellent. Rooms very tired and in need of updating, decorating particularly the bathrooms.

My wife enjoyed our visit. comfort in the room . excellent evening meal.we tended to eat too much. There was disco ,the party concerned treated us to drinks when they discovered it was our 61,st wedding anniversary and invited us to join them. All in all a good day We enjoyed the full breakfast. Not a complaint , but I should have turned the heater off in the bedroom

Most of all the location, the restorant and the food were also good. The size of the room was good. The bathroom facilities were dated, the windows to, and also the windows were not chald proof at all- could be very dangerous for younger kids.

Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Spacious twin room with facilites for tea, coffee, tv, hairdryer. Lovely outlook from our room onto the garden. Room was warm and decor was well thought out and colour scheme complemented bedding and accessories. Large bathroom with good supply of shower gel, hand wash and body lotion. Large bath towels supplied. Platter of sandwiches, delicious chips, tea and coffee prepared by the chef on our arrival with only a moments notice. (Arrived at approx 11.45a.M.) Delicious breakfast with a good choice of food. Riding stables on site. Located in the New Forrest convienient for walking and taking in the scenery. Could imagine that parking may be an issue if the hotel was full, as I did not see anywhere other than the spaces opposite the hotel to park. However there may be alternative parking spaces which I was not aware of.

It has a lovely reception area with nice staff. The rooms that I saw (2 double rooms) were an adequate size. The plumbing was a bit archaic and the mattress was very very firm.

The staff, food and the size of my room were excellent The hotel needs redecoration and a little modernisation. You took pot luck in the shower. Sometimes you were frozen other times you were burnt!! The lock on my room door (no3) was 'removable' and took some time to ensure you had locked it. The wardrobe in my room had no handles on the doors when I first arrived. I managed to open them and also found one of the handles on the top of the wardrobe and fitted it back on the door. I felt that the hotel was understaffed and neglected by senior management of the group that now own it so I did not mention any of this during my stay.

The beds were very comfy. We were in a ground floor room which opened onto the grounds and that was nice. The girls at the bar were pleasant. Too many dogs there. While I don't mind them, not roaming around a tiny bar area while i'm having a quiet drink.. Breakfast was rather overdone. They were very busy and the wait wasn't bad, but...

Overall hotel was very good, lovely location, room was very nice, breakfasts good Only two minor niggles, 1) bath - room 101 - was very slippery and both of us slipped in it fortunately with no injury. Despeartely needs a bath mat; and 2) Breakfast staff told us to sit anywhere then moved us when we sat at a table which turned out not to be laid for breakfast. We saw this happen several times with other guests. Be easier if someone sat at their chosen location i.e. a nice view of the garden and if it wasn't laid for breakfast, to get the cups etc and lay it for them? Very minor niggles I know but so very close to a perfect stay........ Thanks
