Staff are excellent, hotel 5* and very comfortable.. In the most beautiful location !!!
We would love to live here! Owner and staff couldn't have been nicer. Food first rate too, as were the two rooms we occupied.
Fires very Smokey. Wee bit cold, as guards on all the time.
Nice but rather austere decor
The wonderful Scottish ambience of the hotel reflected in the decor and the meals in the dining room.
Fantastic attentive staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Great food. Lots of useful info in room and library.
Comfortable hotel, good food, excellent staff and service. A most enjoyable stay.
Pillows a little too hard for my liking.
location is stunning next to the oldest yew tree in the uk/world. unusual architecture around with thatched cottages. decoration in the hotel is beautiful in a modern scottish style.the attached wee pub with open fire is cosy and food was good.our well behaved dog was allowed in hotel which was great.
limited (dog)walking from hotel apart from along the road but easy access nearby but you will have to drive though.
Rural location Peace and quiet Quality and comfortable accommodation Food
Small double beds.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and most comfortable. The food is excellent. The quiet location was much appreciated.
Small niggle - because there were not many residents, dinner was either in the lounge or in the very small bar. it might have been better to eat in the dining room even if we would have been the only guests there.
Good location for exploring Perthshire. Excellent breakfast and very good evening meal. Staff very attentive.
Great location, great room and very friendly staff.
Menu could have changed over the days we were there.
A marvellous independent hotel with helpful and friendly staff, superb food and comfortable rooms. Nothing is too much trouble and you can relax in luxury. Perfect.
The staff, the rooms, the food, all excellent. Can't praise highly enough.
We had a good summer and were offered our evening meal outside. The scenery around, the yew, the swifts - all great. Great library too with details of local walks.
Tranquility: Comfort: Log Fire in Lounge.: Food is excellent (best bowl of porridge ever!): Nice rooms: Attentive and friendly Staff: Excellent stay - wished we had booked for longer than one night - will definitely return.
Absolutely no complaints.
Rooms were nice.
Very expensive for what you get, i went there 35 years ago and it still looks and has the same furniture. No scottish staff and the atmosphere in the hotel is depressing.
I managed to mix up my dates and only the morning after my booking did I discover my mistake. The hotel booked me in for the next night and refused to charge for the 'lost night' despite being perfectly entitled to. A la carte menu was off but an excellent menu of specials (3 per course) was offered alongside the bar menu. Perfectly cooked by what turned out to be the 2nd chef. Friendly staff that just couldn't do enough for you, a location in one of the loveliest parts of Scotland and a complementary dram or two of whisky in the room. What's not to like?
It wasn't clear before we arrived that there'd be no full a la carte menu. We were initially disappointed but had a great meal in the end and it made no difference - but I can imagine others may have wanted pre-warning. Our room was quite warm all night despite the windows being open, so I didn't sleep too well. Didn't discover if there was any aircon but I'd assume not.
A very beautiful and quiet location. Shower was fantastic, breakfast was lovely, staff and service very good.
A little too remote for us, ideal if this is what you are looking for. Thirty minute drive to Pitlochry.
Location fabulous. staff friendly and polite. Nothing too much trouble. Bedroom very clean.
Some of the public areas were a bit tired and needed redecorating. Don't think it commanded the price we paid for the room and breakfast
King size bed, beautifully appointed, lovely setting, great food
TV setup confusing & tub drain mechanism broken.
Superb evening meal
Variety of eating areas. Staff very attentive and helpful. Outside area adjacent to bar and very pleasant lawn area for evening relaxation, two real positives. If you are a hill walker the location is perfect! Finally, if you can arrange to be at Fortingall on a Friday evening, enjoy the msic!!!
