Foundry Masters House43 Wellington Road, TF8 7DU Coalbrookdale (Show map) Wonderful, Score from 60 reviews“Very friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Fresh milk provided in flask for tea/coffee facilities. Excellent breakfast. Off road parking.”
Margaret,
Newport
Originally built in the early 1800s, this detached property has now been lovingly restored; today, the house boasts attractive and elegant Georgian-style accommodations, rich in beautiful original period features. The house was originally constructed as a home for the foundry master of the nearby Coalbrookdale iron works. The house has been sensitively restored by the owners of the nearby Coalbrookdale Inn and now houses 3 beautiful rooms with private bathrooms. The rooms have period-style bathrooms, original fireplaces, authentic Georgian coving and high ceilings complete with picture rails. Crystal chandeliers further enhance the historic atmosphere. The rooms are finished in Georgian colors and have far eastern-style carpets and period-style mahogany furniture. Modern comforts and facilities have been carefully integrated and each room has a brand new TV with free sat TV channels and a built-in DVD player. With historic beauty and period-style charm alongside contemporary comforts, the Foundry Master’s House makes a luxurious base for a relaxing break. Hotel Rooms: 3

Ideal location for what we wanted, good sized rooms and excellent bathroom.Breakfast superb. My husband is disabled so access was very bad. The stairs leading to the bedroom were very steep and he found them very difficult to get up.

We booked the Foundry Masters House for the New Year weekend and a couple of days before we arrived we realised that being New Years Eve we were unlikely to be able to book an evening meal having only booked bed & breakfast at the Foundry Masters. I telephoned and asked Dawn for advice, she immediately offered to ring round and see if she could find us somewhere to eat Saturday night. Within an hour her husband Danny rang back and suggested they provide an evening meal themselves. This we agreed and this turned out to be the "icing on the cake" to a fabulous weekend, the evening meal was first class and we would have no hesitation in fully recommending the Foundry Masters House. The owners are the friendliest and most welcoming proprietors we have ever met. Dawn's cooking is superb. Dawn and Danny cater for the customer . The building has been restored tastefully so you can still admire the Victorian architectural features. Dawn has excellent taste so the rooms are both attractive and comfortable. We would recommend it to anyone apart from the severely disabled as the steps have to be negotiated

A very comfortable weekend. Excellent welcome from Dawn and Danny on arrival and we were made to feel at home. The room was comfortable, very good condition and well appointed. Marvellous bathroom with a Victorian feel but modern plumbing! Very comfortable bed with a memory foam mattress that we just sank into! Very good breakfast with plenty of tea and orange juice. A handy location where we could walk up the road and into the Coalbrookdale Inn where Dawn also cooked the food. About 20mins walk down into Ironbridge but slightly longer on the uphill way back! Location excellent for Museums, we also visited Attingham Park some 10mls away.

If you're visiting the Ironbridge Gorge you really should consider the Foundry Master House. It's a short drive to the various museums. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. I can't recall having a better breakfast - better than the breakfast I had in a 5* London Hotel. With just three rooms the owners have time to speak to you.

The Foundry Masters House was easily accessible to all the sights of Ironbridge, was very comfortable and being able to park the car on the premises was important. The owners were so friendly and hospitable that we felt at home as soon as we arrived. We'd recommend this b&b to everyone.

Our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. The establishment was very well appointed and comfortable. The breakfasts were of a very high standard and substantial. Shopping was to be had in Telford and there were numerous attrations in the local area. I particularly enjoyed my visit to the museum at raf Cosford.

Danny and Dawn are very welcoming, friendly and considerate hosts. Dawn is an excellent chef, providing first class meals at the Foundry Masters House and the Coalbrookdale Inn. Do pay a visit to their restaurant and enjoy the cuisine, You will not be disappointed. The room was spacious and comfortable with very good facilities to make for an enjoyable break. Full marks and top of the class from this couple.

Darren and Dawn were excellent hosts. We enjoyed our stay very much. The bedroom and shower room provided all the essentials needed plus little luxury touches like the star-shaped shortbreads, soft towels and heated towel rail. The surprise was Dawn's cooking at the nearby local pub. Great wine, super menu, very enjoyable. Recommended!

A comfortable, friendly and very clean hotel. The couple who run the hotel are very helpful. There is a pub near by with a small restaurant, that serves excellent food. We stayed for a long weekend and would recommend this to others.

Warm welcome. Well furnished room. Large spacious bathroom, although perhaps another towel rail would have been useful. Good breakfast cooked to our request. Plenty of recommendations for places to eat nearby. nothing

It's an exceptionally comfortable small hotel, with good-sized, attractive bedrooms, palatial ensuite bathrooms, a friendly welcome and very good breakfasts. It's beautifully situated in a wooded valley, convenient for the museums and some great restaurants (especially the one run by the owners at the nearby Coalbrookdale Inn). It's set back from the road and quiet, but is only 100 yards from the regular bus that connects Ironbridge with Telford railway station. The steps up to the front door are steep and a bit uneven: no problem for most people but I'd think twice about taking elderly parent.

Everything was just wonderful - from the homemade cake provided on arrival to the comfort of the beds - the lovely 5*bathroom to the magnificent breakfast. The couple who own the house made us very welcome, it made us feel very much at home. This is a lovely old house which has been loveingly restored to make a great b&b - I recommend it. The lady of the house is also the chef in the local pub resturant - I also recommend eating here - good ale and very good food! The Ironbridge area is just spendid for a holiday. No dislikes at all - the b&b is a little gem!!

Excellent b&b in good location near museums. Breakfast superb, well presented on communal table. Owners run very good restaurant in nearby pub. Bed a bit too hard for our liking so only rated comfort as good.
