The bedding was not very good. Pillows were so flat they couldn't be slept on without putting something underneath
good location staff very helpful
No bathmat or tea towels.
Centrally in a matter of buses, not exemplary for walking with children or elderly people.
I liked the location as the fountain bridge apartments were close to the city centre and was very secure.
When we got to the apartments we had to wait aroun half an hour to check in because although there were two reception staff working only one was working and was checking in someone else while the other person was clicking a pen. It was basic with no wifi and the bed was uncomfortable and for the quality of the room £86 was a bit steep for one night
The staff who helped us change our room as the first room that was given to us was filthy especially the kitchen and the bathroom. Ken, who happened to be on duty find ways to accommodate our request though it took awhile but he managed to sort it out.
The kitchen and the bathroom were dirty. The hallways were smelly.
Convenient to the Tattoo in the center of Edinburgh. Easy walk back to the hotel at 12:30 am
No frills, but clean, comfy and in a quiet area. Ideal when you know you're only laying your head down for a few hours kip between a late Tattoo shown and onward travel to the Highlands. Loudons Café opposite made a great breakfast.
Really good location only a few minutes walk to city centre. Staff were lovely.
Location Facilities All round a convenient place to stay for the Tattoo. Parking
I liked the fact that it was Central and clean, the staff were helpful too, however, after staying in accommodation before, I think the price was a bit over than what should be paid for hostels, as this is similar.
I did not like the fact that the pillows were rubbish and cheap and, that there was a lot of noise at the front with people passing in and out, also not enough toilet roll and only 1 towel for 2 no. people staying
Location, clean, friendly helpful staff.
Very basic, noisey, would have been greatful of tea and coffee in room or kitchen
Very handy for city centre and fair price for being so near. Pleasant staff however English not first language for some which made communication sometimes difficult.
Very noisy with youngsters. Very basic and grubby shower/toilet facilities
The bed, the hygiene, the layout. To call it an apartment is a stretch too far.
Good bed Very helpful staff
Uncomfortable double bed, no place to store luggage when I arrived early. Bins not emptied
The facilities in themselves were clean and basic but adequate.
I booked this accommodation on booking.com and considered it reasonably priced for Edinburgh in the middle of the Festival. It was described as a "luxury private serviced apartment" where the kitchen and bathroom were "shared". I took this to mean, "shared with the other members of your party". I am confused as to what the owners of these "apartments" would define by the word "luxury", because when we arrived we discovered it was basic student accommodation. I would describe it as a student corridor, with 6 rooms, each capable of double occupancy. This meant that at full occupancy the kitchen, toilet and shower room facilities would be shared by 12 people. The kitchen/lounge was of an acceptable standard, but if 12 people had wanted to prepare meals for themselves each evening the arrangement would have been totally unworkable. As we entered the very bleak corridor it had a faintly unaired, stale smell. The open-plan kitchen/lounge area was of a reasonable standard but much smaller than it had seemed in the online image. All the walls were bare, and the "double beds" were small and not ideal for a tall person. There were no hooks to hang anything on in the shower room or toilet; no hooks or heated towel rail to hang towels on by the washbasin in the bedroom. On the plus side, the bedrooms were clean and adequate and we were fortunate in that only one other party of occupants wanted to cook an evening meal there during the week of our stay. However I will say this accommodation was not described accurately when we booked it, and we would probably not have chosen it if it had been honestly described. I hope the owners of these apartments will take action to correct this. read less
Heating is properly working. Despite being a hostel, it provides towels which are wonderful for the visitors coming unprepared.
It does not look like its photos displayed in the website. The bathroom is shared with other people at the floor.
Location to city centre.
No access to or reply from reception at 9.00am on a Saturday
Staff very friendly.
The room was not clean, and the bed sagged in the middle.
Location was a 20 min walk away from the Royal Mile, & 10 mins from tram to the airport. It was within easy reach of shops.
Perhaps I had a bad experience, as I also shared my apartment with other occupants. They were noisy until late at night both nights, and my sleep quality was terrible. Bed was not particularly comfortable, & I would have appreciated a hairdryer (although I can see that with the other occupants, you might not have wanted to provide one).
Kitchen area!!! We can cook what we want to eat!!!!!
it was in the town centre of the city
the doors where banging most of the night
Super cheap, clean and great location. If you're heading up for the Fringe, then Fountainbridge is ideal. Access to a kitchen, laundry facilities and included WiFi are a massive plus.
we got the whole apartment to ourselves during the festival ! easy walking distance to city centre free parking all weekend
the double bed was a little small for us
