peaceful setting,excellent food and service,great for access to Cardiff airport

We wanted a base to meet up with family who live in the area and it was all that we could have asked for. Friendly and lovely location. We wished that we had booked the family meal with The Fox & Hounds rather than the pub that was chosen for us - we think we would have had a better experience!

The fact that the pub was closed when we arrived, which meant that we could not have a cup of tea or drink prior to getting changed to go and meet the family. We made tea in our rooms and brought the cups downstairs!

Peace and quiet in lovely countryside.

A beautifully restored inn in a gorgeous part of wales. Rooms were warm and cozy with everything you need including satellite tv and a power shower. The food was wonderful - a good selection, beautifully presented and good value. I would stay here again for business or leisure.

Nothing to complain about but one suggestion - if you could offer breakfast in bed or room service for the solo traveller that would be an extra bonus.

Lovely quiet setting and clean facilities. The food was exceptional with delicious breakfast included. Location ideal for all local sights and places of interest. The beach, Cardiff, interesting villages and museums and castles all easily accessible.

Excellent food both breakfast and evening dinner, well prepared and presented, fine selection on menu and good value. Resturant comfortable cosy and warm. Very good staff & management who take great care of their guests. Nice bar area, warmed with a log fire, good selection of ales & wines. Guest room well sized, comfortable layout, plenty of storage room, clean, comfy bed and warm room. A comfortable relaxing few days away.

Stair access to rooms tight, however help was given.

Our room only had a shower, I would have preferred a bath.

Quiet location and really friendly, happy people. Sue & John are wonderful hosts and meals were fantastic. Lovely big hearty breakfasts and a lovely a la carte menu for evening dining. Our room (Poppy) was large and comfortable with a king-size bed and a sofa. Plenty of storage space too. Ensuite bath/wc with shower overbath was compact but fine. Would highly recommend. Convenient for various locations yet tucked away. Plenty of on-site parking.

Advises free Wi-Fi - indeed free but signal strength poor and intermittent.

Nice country pub restaurant with rooms, just twenty minutes out of Barry.

Excellent food, particularly friendly service, our room was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The owners Sue and John were helpful and attentive, as were the younger staff. Our breafast was ordered the night before, we had an early start and was able to take breakfast slightly earlier. The evening meal was superb. Would recommend staying at the Fox and Hounds, a typical country pub with great food. It was difficult to find a good hotel as the Welsh were playing the Aussies, but was glad to find this little gem!

Excellent food, particularly friendly service, our room was comfortable and spacious.

In a wonderful location, quiet, relaxing, and we were well looked after.

Though announced almost no WiFi available, no water pressure in the bathroom, therefore you have to flush manually, i.e. if you are able to lock the door.

Decked area outside could be fabulous but at present needs some tlc.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Interesting location.

There was a very strong smell of farmyard the evening I arrived! It was quite strong, in my room too! It was not so strong by the next morning. The toilet was not as clean as it should have been and the bed cover was badly stained. There were also old marks on the bed sheet. The toilet also had a rather high position! The shower head was difficult to manipulate.

We booked in overnight during a visit to Wales for a family funeral. Tension release for all. And helped the healing processes. The visit to the nearby church was very historically interesting, and the village was lovely.Our relatives, including the widow, met us there and we all had an excellent meal on the eve of the funeral, which was a superb tension breaker. The village was lovely and the service and staff excellent at the hotel, as was the facilities.

A genuine welcome, a beautiful room, immaculately clean. Tons of space, tea and coffee making facilities. They didn't mind us picnicking in the room. Recommendation for local walking.

No wifi in room only in snug down stairs then it was poor. room not cleaned to a good standard. This is an old pub in need of a lot of repairs and refurbishment.

Excellent setting, very friendly and lovely food. Good location for travelling to Cardiff and Swansea, for those who do not want to stay in the increasingly expensive boxes at Premier Inn. Will definitely stay here again.
