Location just off motorway but lovely surroundings - only stopped 1 night in order to break journey but would certainly stay again and longer to explore surrounding area. Staff friendly and food good.
Food was yummy, and friendly staff (although during our stay we only saw one lady who was doing reception, bar and restaurant, all by herself! Could not fault her though!)
We weren't aware of the £20 extra for taking our dog with us. Neither booking.com or the hotels website disclosed this. I was looking forward to getting afternoon tea when we arrived, however were told we had to give 24 hours notice? This also wasn't mentioned on their website.
limited menu especially for vegetarians
Location, Room, Food and Drink. Tentative staff throughout.
We asked for a quiet room, which we had.
No heating in the room except for a portable fan heater. Hot water for breakfast tea was luke warm.
Clean and comfortable. Peaceful.
Room was cold due to heating problem. Wifi did not connect in bedroom.
staff friendly, room as good as big chain in quality
its an independent and some public areas have threadbare carpets - a very minor critique.
Lovely host recieving you. Small, simple and clean
they ask at point of booking if you prefer smoking or non-smoking room but when you get there it doesnt make a difference as you cannot smoke anywhere apart from outside anyway
Most everything. Especially the friendly approach of the staff members with a special thank you to a young lady called Julia. I will certainly return
I found the Wi Fi in my room a tadge hit and miss.
Very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Didn't eat in the evening but breakfast was lovely. Just off the M40 with easy access to High Wycombe as well as further afield.
was in a nice quiet location, staff very friendly and made the dog very welcome. The stand-in manager was very polite and helpful. Food was good.
The place had a feel of not being locally supported which left it with no atmosphere. The carpets could do with being replaced so could the bed bases.
Staff eager to please. Made one feel very welcome.
Rooms looked to have been renovated recently. The rest of the staff was very kind.
Breakfast was poor, the two last days they actually served nothing. One of the staff members was rude. The bed was too small, and wifi access was limited to pub area only.
Nice room, good tv, comfortable bed Plenty of fluffy towels
large mugs, small kettle, insufficient normal tea bags and milk. No non- slip mat in shower. Continental breakfast small choice of cereals, lukewarm coffee in dispenser
Friendly and always willing to help. Excellent food and local Beer.
A sincere and attentive welcome, a clean, well furnished room with a quality, hot shower and the luxury of a fridge. The staff were great. When the one meal on the menu that I was looking forward to wasn't available an excellent alternative, off the menu, suggestion was made which was even better, at no extra cost. Breakfast was exactly what I wanted. Can't fault them.
Radiator in room wasn't working, but electric heater in wardrobe resolved this.
The room was modern, clean and warm. It had a desk area to work at and the luxury of a fridge in the room. All modern fittings in the en-suite, with a powerful hot shower and shelves to put your stuff on. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The bar/dining area was pleasant and relaxing. There was a good choice of breakfasts, included in your room price.
I would have preferred to have a Wetherspoons nearby for food. Poor WiFi signal.
Great location and atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful
Internet connection is very poor.
Very good reception staff, pet friendly and accommodating to a slightly later booking out time. Good evening meal in bar with open fire.
Convenient for M40. Decent food and pint.
Bedroom like an oven due to heated floor in bathroom. Staff were aware of the problem.
Friendly, efficient welcome/check in.
very hard thin mattress
Nice clean rooms
Food is over priced for what you get both on bar menu nearly £7 for a sausage sandwich and a few chunky chips. Main menu the food was cooked well but the description and what we got was far apart plus we waited 2 hours for the main and we were the only group there. - stay here eat out!
The landlord and landlady were charming and gave us so much information of surrounding countryside, so much so that we look forward to another visit to see the rest .
Good location ,friendly staff
Poor service at mealtimes ,no butter on 2nd morning at breakfast ,cobwebs in room .
