Situated on the edge of North Dartmoor between Tavistock and Okehampton, this family-run hotel with restaurant is open all year round. Homemade meals and bar snacks are served all day long, and a daily specials board offers a selection of fresh fish and vegetarian meals. Breakfast is served from 7am onwards. Fox & Hounds Hotel is about 25 miles from Exeter and Plymouth. Local attractions include: Lydford Gorge, Morewellham Quay, Cotele House Launceston, Okehampton Castle, the West Devon Way and major bike routes. Friendly staff, large bedroom, cleanliness, the meals at both breakfast and in the evening were excellent. The whole place seemed a little tired. The bedroom was dark and the furnishings fairly well used. The en-suite was clean but there were a couple of steep steps down to it with a top step that was none too clear, and caused a stumble (being partly disabled didn't help, however). Would benefit from brightening up.

A cosy, welcoming pub b+B. Good food including a cupa on arrival! Our room was at the back of the building a had a great outlook over Dartmoor but turned out to be quite cold during the night.

The food was excellent. Service was very good. Friendly and approachable owner. The hotel, including room was spotlessly clean. Bedroom decoration was outdated and colours depressing. The mattress was not the most comfortable.
