This place was like a back street boozer. I was ashamed for all the foreign visitors who had been conned into thinking it was somehwere nice. The room was drab, the net curtains torn, hooks missing off the top curtains. The bathroom needed ripping out it was so bad - even the toilet brush was brown and had not been replaced! The electric kettle was dirty. The service was poor, with no one really engaging with or seeming to care about the guests. The outside of the place was really drab, with patched up roughcast walls which had not been repaired or painted in years. The breakfast was bizarre, eg cooked meal brought out and plonked down while still eating cereals, toast brought out at the beginning, so dry and cold by the time needed.

I appreciated the friendly welcome and helpful staff. My room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect as a meeting point for my family from the south and myself from the midlands. It was really close to Oxford's Park and Ride so ideal for exploring the city.I look forward to staying there again. My son and his family were equally comfortable in their family room.

The guest area (bar/dining room/lounge) was very nice and welcoming and the manager very pleasant. It was easy to locate coming out of the city centre. The room we were given was a smoking room although we did not ask for one. This was a shame.

We found it very laid back and we enjoyed not being pestered by staff. They were there when we wanted them but they were not 'in our faces'. The bed was a little on the hard side and the water pressure in the shower can best be described as 'feeble'. Television reception was not always good.

I was really impressed with the service at the foxcombe lodge the staff were extremely helpful and friendly going out of there way to accommodate the guests needs. The food was lovely and the room was very comfortable. I would say the bathrooms could do with a bit of an update as they seemed very tired and dated.

The location. Staff were very good. The whole place is tired and needs new carpets throughout. Some of the room are cold and damp and the showers are poor. Some are excellent. So to sum up the hotel is like a Curates Egg - good in parts !

Staff helpful. Good breakfast. Rooms showing their age - thin walls/floors, which aren't sound-proof. Neighbour's bathroom sound like it was part of our room. Single glazed windows. Tatty - refurb and cleaning required. Television shoved high up onto wardrobe as an afterthought.

We liked only the outside of the building.on arrival we only had time to see room and leave luggage ,as we wished to see our daughter at Oxford university first. Had we looked at the sheets and towels we would have asked to be moved.as two of the six towels were not clean .and stains and. Hairs on the bed sheets.but it was very late when we came back from Oxford and no one to be seen.so we did not complain, but wished we had done so.The breakfast was adequate not great.we shall not stay next month when we visit. Dirty sheets not cleaned !dirty towels just folded not fresh or clean.tv repeatedly not working correctly .we once called owner but later tv failed again. Had we not had a small boy with us ,it would not have interested us.the room smelled upon arrival and during the night was very cold. We shall not be staying next month!

Friendly management The bathroom was very old, small and the shower was un inviting. It was difficult to use the sink as the shelf above was restrictive. There was no hot water from the sink. The breakfast (I had scrambled eggs on toast) was ok but the presentation could be improved.

Staff were friendly. There was ample parking spaces. Room was not clean - shower dirty, cobweb on ceiling, hairs in the bed, window catch was broken. External of the hotel needs attention (paint peeling, roof needs re-tiling). Breakfast was adequate but not great. The coffee was just a big pot of instant- not real coffee.

We were given discounts on our rooms when we complained in the morning. Dirty rooms - hairs in bed and bath. Broken radiator leaked black water all over the carpet in the middle of the night, no one answered the emergecy telephone number so we did not get much sleep. Breakfast poor.

“Excellent hotel. Near Oxford and a lovely old stone building next to the river in Sandford on Thames. We had one of the older rooms which was great with a lovely big bathroom. The breakfast was standard english buffet but the sausages and bacon were a bit dried up under the lights but you can order a freshly made poached eggs on toast or other from the menu which was better. The hotel is just outside oxford so you can get a bus (116/106) which stops just outside the hotel up til 6pm in the evening into town. Taxis cost about £10 each way. You can also walk into oxford along the thames path which takes about 40 minutes but was a bit muddy in parts after the rain. Recommend this hotel ” Jane, Ottershaw |

“Amazingly friendly welcome, with a member of staff taking me to my room to show me all that it had to offer. A very comfortable room with everything and more in it to make my stay perfect. Everything was thought out very carefully with generous complitmentary tea and coffee items, biscuits, cornflakes, and the microwave was a brilliant touch. The public rooms, too, were warm and comfortable and the staff that I met were absolutely lovely. A real gem of a B & B giving 5 star service.” Sarah, Worthing |
