Room interior and grounds are the only thing I would rate about this hotel which is very disappointing for such a highly recommended hotel.
.Booked and paid for a junior ‘double suite’ but clearly was two single beds pushed together with a gap in-between.
.No air con in the room or fan offered.
.Booked dinner for an allotted time and was moved back due to restaurant being ‘busy’. We only ordered two courses which took over two hours and was very slow to even first acknowledge we had sat down.
.Reception ordered us a cab after dinner, not asking how long it would be and didn’t offer to call back to check. We then brought drinks and sat down then for our cab to arrive.
.After departing from the hotel £165 was taken with no explanation from my account. We contacted the hotel the Monday evening after our weekend stay we were told to call back at 9 the next day and wait for manager as this amount was from a tab at bar19, we didn’t even set foot in or knew existed, so was added to our room incorrectly. Called back at 9 no one was able to answer any questions, told we would be contacted by half 9 no call. We had to call the hotel back to then be told they would call us back which was starting to become a joke, so we requested to be put on hold and then told the manager would talk to us in a couple of minutes – another 15 mins later!
We were then told it was a pre-authorisation amount which they take as a deposit but shouldn’t actually go through (just in case you leave without paying bills, we settled everything). We know full well you only need to take a 50p deposit, as this would still obtain card details. We still were given no explanation as to why every member of staff we had previously spoken to told us this is was from an outstanding bill for bar 19.
.For all this hassle all we were offered was an upgrade to a suite, so we would have to spend money in order to get any form of compensation!
