Food! The only reason Foxhills is not getting a 10 from us is the food. I am glad that we didn't stay more than 1 night because I really needed food and there was nothing to eat- literally.
When we arrived, we had a chicken wrap in XIX restaurant and two beers- paid 20 quid. For the evening, I booked the Manor Restaurant to treat ourselves but when we went there, we were told that we couldn't use the conservatory area as there was a private functioning. Rest of the restaurant didn't feel special at all and there was noone else except us, no music, and I just felt like sitting at an airport venue so found it pointless to pay more than 80 pounds for 2 people. They should definitely give the option to have a la carte to people as the set menu was very overpriced and limited in choice. Then we went to XIX again, ate a steak and fish&chips which was average at best and had to still pay around 50 pounds for 2 people. Next day, lunch- ordered a greek salad, I sent it back. It felt like they were assuming that I am an idiot. If I am paying 10 pounds for a salad, I would expect more than 3 lettuce leaves, 1 tomato and 3 cubes of white cheese. They didn't even have any special sauce on it, just olive oil. Mcdonalds does better! Finally asked for a coke, came without a lemon or a straw. You are a 4*star spa hotel Foxhills, you can do better than that!
thee staff at reception can be more friendly and informative. They were polite but I didn't feel they were friendly necessarily. We had to find most of the information ourselves.
Finally Chertsey station is much closer to the hotel than Woking but we really struggled to find a taxi.
Foxhills was a really nice place to get away from London's craziness even for a day. Really loved our room, it was a suite with two floors, big but cosy at the same time, very clean and quiet. We had everything we needed including toiletries, towels, tea pot, coffee maker...Used the indoor swimming pool, hot tub outside, sauna and the steam room- all very well maintained. Played tennis and we were able to borrow rackets and balls. Breakfast was included in our rate, and continental buffet was weak but the hot breakfast options compensated this. Manor house restaurant is nice to have your breakfast in too. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would come again.
