Fowey is a lovely, typical fishing village however it has the usual plethora of second homes, airbnb and rental properties. It’s not too commercial though. Lots of narrow streets and old buildings.
We visited in March and it was lovely, I suspect that in the high season it will get very crowded. A nightmare to drive through!

Classic Cornish small coastal town nestled on the steep western bank of a creek. Full of character and plenty of real local people as well as tourists. Be prepared for a steep heart stopping climb to the central car par if you miss the Town (mini) Bus which appears every 15 minutes.Highly recommend Bufala Italian restaurant/.pizzeria - don't be put off by drab road facing entrance/waiting area. Pintxo tapas bar looked interesting but could not get a seat.

A very idyllic town, by the river Fowey, especially when the sun is out and sparkling on its surface.
Excellent opportunities to walk along the coast, or to jump on to ferries and visit other towns. Some lovely beaches and coves nearby (Readymoney Cove is lovely and at walking distance from the centre) making it possible to dip into the river. Many links to Daphne du Maurier around the area - although Manderley is private (and under a different name) it’s easy to be enraptured by the atmosphere.
Buses are just a couple and not very regular, but it’s still possible to visit the area even if you don’t own a car.
I truly recommend.

A delightful place to visit.
A delightful place to visit. Wonderful swimming at Readymoney Bay.
Good long Beach for strolling at Par Bay a short drive out of Fowey.
The town of Fowey is charming, set on the River. However the steep walk from and up to the upper part of town is a kittle challenging.
Fowey offers a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Lovely location especially Readymoney beach and the shops & pubs.
Little bit challenging getting to accommodation by car, to drop our bags off, as it’s a single road one way system. So if you miss it you either have to go round again or park up and walk back.

A really compact village/town with everything centrally placed, plenty of choice of drinking or eating places.
Only downside is the carparking on the fringe of the town, you would need to catch the town taxi/bus if you have any mobility problems.
Visit Llanhydrock Place the best National Trust property I've ever entered.
Location is perfect for a stroll around fowey and the local walks. Although Fowey is extremely steep and one to be aware of if you struggle, once you’re at cottage you are within close walking distance to all the shops and pubs/restaurants and harbour. The cottage is equipped for dining inside or out with a little courtyard and picnic table. Had everything you need all amenities covered including washing machine iron and ironing board, spoilt with 2 bathrooms. Would happily stay here every year!
The hotel was stunning, amazing views over Fowey (I have now realised it's pronounced Foy!) We got a room upgrade when we checked in which was a lovely surprise! The staff were very helpful and recommended Sam's restaurant down in the village, which we had already booked a table for. The facilities are excellent, we used the games room and the indoor pool, could have been slightly warmer, but minor issue, and didn't take away from our fantastic stay! Thank you!
Breakfast excellent. Dinner excellent. High quality food and fair price. Excellent service throughout eateries and hotel generally. Pool, very clean, nice facility. Great terrace area, lovely views. Very relaxing place. Staff friendly with a dry wit .. if you like that! Great. TOP TIP - book restaurant in advance not to be disappointed ... probably a week or so before your stay.
The staff were amazing, so kind, friendly, helpful, one of the highlights of the trip. Lovely area right by the sea with the restaurant being a few feat from the sea. Easy to go on walk around area straight hotel. Lovely room, tastefully furnished with good quality fittings, and nice selection of teas etc on the room. The food was really tasty in the restaurant and breakfast was superb.
Gorgeous chic hotel in fabulous location with view of estuary from lovely room and restaurant. Located in heart of Fowey so easy for exploring town with all its characterful shops and eating places. Easy access to river and all it has to offer like kayaking and boat hire. Super friendly and helpful staff. Fabulous evening meal and breakfast.
Henry and Alison the hosts are lovely people and willing to help with any problem. The property is in tip top condition and equipped with anything and everything you might need on your stay. In an amazing location with superb views of the harbour.Worht every penny will come again when we get the chancel.
No dinner served on Monday evening unfortunately. They did offer Greek food from a Food truck. The outlook from the Hotel was spectacular but it was isolated requiring a trip to Fowey for an evening meal. This was a disapointment as was the fact there was no elevator.
Everything! Ben and Michaela were amazing hosts, made us feel welcome, told us everything we needed to know about Fowey and surrounding areas. Complimentary drinks on arrival. Breakfast each day was outstanding!
A home away from home, 10/10 deffo coming back again!
This hotel was a really fortuitous find and exceeded expectations in every manner. Charming staff, gorgeous room, excellent food and really dog friendly. We had a great stay and if visiting Fowey again i would not hesitate to stay here again.
The cottage is fantastic, welcoming, clean and can host 6 people in 3 bedrooms.
Eating on the terrace with the view on the harbour was amazing and our guests and us were delighted by such a lovely view.
The location is handy as well.
Owners are a lovely couple, helpful and nice. We stay in Rebecca room and it was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plenty.
You could connect to main roads easily if you want to visit any other town than Fowey.
The breakfast is probably the best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel, there was so much food that we couldn't eat it all.
The location is also great for exploring Fowey and the surrounding area.
Room decor was pretty.
Great location in the heart of Fowey. On site restaurant is Michelin star. 5-course dinner menu had fantastic choices and flavors. First-rate complimentary breakfast choices.
Lovely traditional old Inn. Close to harbour & centre. Very friendly, hard working staff. Excellent breakfast- a full & varied menu. Comfy bed. Parking on site.
The hotel is so handy to the town centre with easy access to the harbour. The room was very pleasant and nicely serviced. The bus stopped right outside.
Location of hotel is excellent for harbour and sea views. Staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast and bar were very good.
