Frederick House Hotel  

Location was great for all round Edinburgh, decor was good condition, rooms were clean; requested late check out and they obliged with 12 noon! Staff polite, overall, having stayed in hundreds of hotels between us we would book again.

Reception struggled to understand my request for two wine glasses; but did provide two odd ones. Left Luggage was self service, but there were to many keys were being handed out to guests to collect 'their' bags. Rooms only view was over a built up courtyard. No shampoo, but was some soap, would have been useful to know that had to bring supplies in advance shower was only okay. Didn't make breakfast as it was served over the road in a separate place and only until 10:15, lazy yes.

The personnel were helpful and friendly.

There was nothing I disliked.

I'm surprised it's a 4 star hotel. Room was very basic - hard, thin pillows, scratchy sheet and blanket, cheap looking toiletries, no safe. Breakfast across the road felt on the cheap - watery, warm orange juice and dried up bread and pastries. I stayed here because I couldn't get into the same hotel as the rest of my family across the street so the only good thing was that I was close to them.

Great location, clean room, nice staff and comfortable. Despite the other negative reviews, I found that breakfast was just fine - although as reported the menu is rather inflexible (you have to pay for a hot drink refill) all in all it was efficient, plentiful and tasty. I got the room for a good price at the last minute. Will return. Recommended.

A lovely boutique hotel. Pretty central and quiet. We were also close to many restaurants which were very good and value for money. I would stay again.

The fact the room was bigger than expected and the comfort of the beds was amazing. That breakfast was served at Cafe Rouge also blew me away. Great choice!

I was really surprised with the standard of the hotel - it had been refurbished and was very well finished. The room was comfortable and, for a single room, was a reasonable size. As a single traveller ,I am very often offered a tiny "cheap" room. I have stayed in many 4* and 5* hotels in Edinburgh, but I would definitely go back to the Frederick House Hotel. The Cafe Rouge across the road where breakfast is served offers a wide choice of very good food by friendly staff. The added bonus is the 25% reduction for patrons fo the hotel.

The only small inconvenience was there wasn't a computer with printing service available for guests - I had wanted to print my boarding pass. To be fair the receptionist said if I emailed her she would print it out, but that awsn't possible for me.

Great location just off George Street in Edinburgh New Town. Good sized room. Good bed. Good TV.

Bedroom doors fitted with a mechanism which made them slam noisily. Big gap under my door. People were going in and out of the other rooms in the corridor where I was. All added up to a lot of noise. Breakfast at Cafe Rouge was limited. I prefer a buffet. Service one day was good, second day was poor. There were not enough staff on the second day.

Great location, very clean and plenty of hot water. Also loved Cafe Rouge - enjoyed breakfast and dinner there.

We enjoyed everything about the room

The noise during the night in the front room, it was constant all night and kept a couple of us awake. The rest of the group that had the back rooms had no problems with noise and slept really well We would ask for the rooms at the back next time we come
