Fine hotel, Good size room with big bathroom,
The room was not weel cleaned, and free WIFI was slow compared to what I am used to at hotels
I did like the heated pool
Not having a seat in dinner area, not been able to get a treatment for my fiance, not alot on menu to chose from and when we ordered the burgers were told they were out
breakfast in the room was lovely
the room was cold when frist arrived
The beautifully furnished bedroom, the artworks both in the hotel and gardens. The spa and the staff are very pleasant. Food fantastic too.
no tea or coffee in the room
Staff very friendly and accommodating
Walls very thin, has a family with very noisy children next to us
The nice large room and a night's sleep uninterrupted by traffic noise, together with a friendly and helpful staff.
The choice with the continental breakfast was less than ideal: I chose a club sandwich, which turned out far too large.
Booked at the last minute for a meeting the day after. On arrival the reception was very welcoming, all information (breakfast times, spa and pool info) given freely. Fab pool, excellent breakfast and staff. Thank you!
Indoor pool is within spa and can't be used by under 18. This is not clear in any of the information. My daughter was very disappointed particularly as the receptionist had given her directions to the pool!
I checked in at around 8PM and wanted room service, tried called over 5 times and even the reception and nobody answered. Also I found a hair in my scrambled eggs in the morning. Service upon checkin was not great, nobody was at the door to help with bags.
The extractor fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy
Very nice comfy atmosphere
My complaints accepted and got a 50% reduction on the bill .... but that was not the point.
Radiator in room did not work. Water in sink cold and took 5 minutes to warm up. Water in shower also cold and was still cold after 10 minutes. Got a wake-up call at 05.30am which I had not requested. These are basic things to sort out!
The staff are superb.
Junior suite was spacious facilities good excellent restaurant.
Room was cold had to ask for heating a heater was then turned on in bedroom but bathroom was freezing radiators never came on?No tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Room was cold. Bathroom smelled. Spa was small, bit dingy, no Jacuzzi, claimed an indoor/outdoor pool. It was October so outdoor pool was not useable and there was not really any indoor pool to speak of. Unrequested and very unwelcome 6am wake up call. Not good value for money
Over priced for what you get. Several items in room not working, some of the pool spa not working. Bar prices extortionate ! The drinks were far cheaper and better in the Michelin star restaurant we went too.
Food, presantation was out of this world - loved it ! The place in general ,Staff ,everything!!we will be back Soon !
The staleMop smell just at the entrance !
Charming staff Lovely grounds I know from previous visits that the spa is lovely
No tea / coffee making facilities in the room No mini bar in the room No hairdryer in the room (very old fashioned, wall mounted dryer that really doesn't dry Noisy in the mornings as the cleaners start work
Comfortable bed. Decent sausages at breakfast
We stayed here for one night. We booked a Junior suite; however it seemed to be an average-sized room with a couple of armchairs, and a corridor to the strangely-shaped bathroom. The bathroom was dominated by a huge bath, which I suspect is never used. It would have been more appropriate to have improved the shower, since it isn't very big, one of the doors isn't fixed at the bottom and the shower head is almost impossible to move around and covered in limescale. There obviously used to be 2 basins; however one has been removed and the hole covered by a piece of laminated board which is too large and hangs over the edge of the unit. The toilet could do with some serious attention from bleach and limescale remover. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were appalling; one of them was so old it had separated into 2 pieces inside its cover. However the first young lady we saw on reception very quickly brought another 2 better pillows to our room. The aircon worked well but started to make a loud humming noise for about 15 seconds at a time at random points during the night. The wallpaper was peeling off in a number of places round the room. However by far the worst was the slippers which were provided. Out of 4 pairs, only one was new and in a plastic wrapper - the other 3 pairs had all been worn. I asked for 2 more pairs and a very pleasant young man turned up with 2 more 'pre-loved' offerings. There is a warning slip given with these, saying that if you take them away there will be a £10 charge - the thought of wearing them at all was disgusting enough, without paying for the privilege of taking them home with you! The spa was tired and in desperate need of updating; the shower area was small with one out of order, and the swimming pool had a ring of dirt and grease round the edge. Luckily we had already booked a different restaurant for dinner and the same lovely receptionist who booked us in, organised a taxi for us.
The 1970s feel to the place was like stepping back in time and reminded me of my youth.
The spa staff appeared stressed , overworked and disinterested in their clients. The spa appeared overbooked, the pool area was crowded and at one stage I had to stand as all the seats and loungers were taken up. My room was shabby; the door chain was broken, there was a hole in the sheet, my mini bar fridge did not work and although I reported this, I had no response. The food was mediocre and very expensive for what it was. I ordered a fish dish that was luke warm. The vegetables tasted like school dinners and had that feel of having been boiled in advance and plunged in hot water before serving. Overall not a good experience and I wish I had gone elsewhere.
We were upgraded to the Royal Ascot Suite which was a lovely gesture, the staff were very accommodating. Our room was quiet, extremely spacious with a balcony & modern bathroom. The spa facilities were also to a high standard.
The hotel decor was a little dated and could do with some renovation to warrant the 4 star status.
The setting and facilities.
Lack of staff - seemed to be rushed off their feet but always polite. Would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the bedroom.
do not change a thing
Very friendly and helpful staff
The venue/ambience /staff and food mostly excellent but fell down badly on Sunday morning with no-one in attendance at breakfast until after we finished when toast appeared! Having already given up on another very good hotel in the area because of the pre-cooked, dried-up breakfast it was a shame to see fredricks also produce this on Sat/Sun.
no tea facilities in the room and the mini-bar looked as if it had been stolen by a none-too careful burgler-!
