눉The most dirty, vile, run down, unprofessional hotel we have ever
Upon arrival the overall feeling of the décor at this hotel was tired. My husband and I didn't feel welcomed but instead the receptionist wanted to immediately take our money. We insisted on seeing our room first and so pleased we did. The room was filthy dirty (including the bed and bathroom) and had clearly not been cleaned. Great big chips were in the bath. I initially opened a door (into what I thought was the bathroom) and it was into an ajoining guest's bedroom, which the hotel had not locked, (totally unforgivable for the privacy and security of the other guests and us), luckily the other guests were not in there.
We went back down to reception and were upgraded into a bigger room. At this point a young male came into reception and asked us if we were enjoying our stay - he appeared drunk. The receptionist said he worked at the hotel and not to forget a wedding was on, when we quizzed if he had been drinking. Very unprofessional to be drunk on duty, there is a time and a place to drink.
The other room was of poor standard; dirty windows, torn chairs, ripped bedding, generally dusty and a blown light bulb in the display cabinet. Although the bed was clean, comfortable (and the bathroom acceptable).
We went to the bar and ordered a white wine and a beer. A young girl said she would have to get someone to serve us as she was under age - an older woman came out to serve us. She sniffed the open bottle of white wine (which suggested it had been open for a while) and both her and the young girl opened bottles of beer (when my husband ordered just 1 bottle). That was the under age girl serving us anyway. The bar price was very expensive - nearly £12 for those 2 drinks. We also got the impression both individuals were drunk too by their behaviour. General décor and cleanliness in the bar area was poor. We didn't have another drink.
눇We didn'T. It was an awful stay. We had booked Fredricks Hotel,
Maidenhead for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and it completely spoilt it.
