With spacious rooms and free parking, The Princess Royal offers cooked breakfasts and a traditional restaurant. Just outside historic Farnham, the lodge is a 15-minute drive from Guildford.

Stay at the Legacy Farnham Hog’s Back Hotel and experience everything you would expect from a hotel company.

This former 17th-century traveler's inn has been carefully restored to provide a relaxed hotel. With traditional charm, the Mecure Farmham Bush has an oak-beamed bar and free parking.
Score from 130 reviews Good
A charming hotel with bright and individually designed bedrooms, free parking and free Wi-Fi access, in a superb peaceful yet convenient location.

Quiet. Very clean. Good size room. Opening windows . Great view from Diningroom.
Dated bathroom. Very uncomfortable bed, tired mattress, in room no.39.
We ate dinner outside overlooking the pond, lovely evening. The room was large and comfortable.
Nothing really other than I hate my first night in any hotel and never sleep.
The view from the lake size of room and facilities in room good parking Peaceful Helpful staff
Cooked breakfast was not hot Bed was very uncomfortable (worst night sleep I've had in a long time!)
the position was lovely but I knew it from living in the area 30 years ago
cost of breakfast is ridiculous, and a little noisy during the night
Location lovely, breakfast good.
Executive garden room ( upgrade) a bit like a mobile chalet! Room extremely hot from radiators.
The reception welcome was excellent. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was excellent. Good choices.
We were in room 32. Very nice, decor perhaps a little tired. Plenty of space - could do with a 2nd armchair. TV was tipping forward and didn't seem adjustable. Water in bathroom never ran hot.
Excellent location by the Big pond with numerous trails into the hills starting straight from the hotel door taking you to the Little pond and the local river and villages/hamlets. Very friendly and helpful staff who made our stay pleasurable(i.e. Dan from reception and Marius from housekeeping).
Perhaps more visual encouragement needed for us the guests to try to be more environmentally friendly( to reuse towels, to recycle various items,etc.). Also perhaps a walkie-talkie communication system between staff in the restaurant/bar and kitchen could be a good idea.
Big room, black out curtains, nice location
Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Definite roll into the middle mattress. Had to request croissants both mornings, first morning they were cold second morning they were still frozen. Half cooked eggs.
Ambience, good food.
No toilet adjacent to "Pond" function room
The wifi was non existent which is poor for a business trip. Breakfast starts at 6.30 but at 7am we were still waiting for most to be put out
The location is fantastic, the bar and waiting staff were friendly.
The reception staff were not overly accepting of problems, there was a confusion with our booking as the system said one thing but our e-mail confirmation said something else, made to feel it was our fault. The toilet was broken and when i informed the reception staff it seemed like i was inconveniencing them by telling them. The shower curtain in our room was dirty and mouldy.
The location. Otherwise the property needed a complete refurb! The bedroom needed brightening up. The whole place is a put down for the neighbourhood. Come on Best Western you can do better than that!!
A separate ? As I've already answered!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar were good.
The room was a bit tawdry. Too many mirrors as well! The furniture and curtains badly matched. The shower was impossible to make cooler. The mattress was old and uneven and the pillows too hard.
location breakfast staff friendly
rooms appear dated . problems with door and card entry
The pond, the friendliness of the staff & the cleanliness.
Very attractive setting on the pond near to Farnham. Nicely laid out grounds and variety of rooms. The public areas are well kept and the rooms a good size and comfortable. There is easy access to the own of Farnham and the Surrey and Hampshire environs.
Reception took an age to book us in. They blamed booking.com.We had 5 rooms in total. The room I was in (a garden room) had no lock, only a hole where the lock should be and thus no way of securely closing or locking the door. When I got cross and asked for another room I got one (with holey curtains) but I had to get cross. Reception blamed housekeeping. My sons shared a room where the water cistern was running constantly. Reception was informed at 6 p.m. On our return at 10 p.m. it had not been fixed. My son got cross. It was fixed. Breakfast was a challenge for the staff on duty. Producing both bacon and eggs at the same time for the buffet seemed a step too far for them. The choice was, at best, ok and the cooking indifferent. Seen much better for a better price. The tables were not cleared quickly enough for the guests waiting to eat and the staff not much in evidence. There was no Earl Grey tea. Hardly a niche request. Orange juice was not the real thing. Some weak, tasteless alternative. I thought this hotel promised much and delivered far less than expected from its price. I would definitely not recommend it on value for money grounds.
Being given an upgrade to a garden room and having one's own individual outside space overlooking the garden was a real bonus. I was able to unload the car immediately beside the front door which was fantastic.
I liked everything.
Nice staff Comfy rooms Nice food Lovely location
Having to bash the room door to get into the room!
I liked the beautiful lake and sourranding area, the food in the restaurant, friendly staff and free parking
Too few bar staff. The young lady on the bar had to leave her post on a regular basis to serve bar snacks leaving the bar unattended. It appeared that restaurant staff had the time to do this.
The staff were good and oblidging
Some of the facilities needed attention such as, loose taps, poor flushes in public toilets & light bulbs out in the corridors
The location next to Frensham Pond
My room was big, but felt tired and old fashioned. It has a an adjoining door to the next bedroom, which, although locked, allowed voices from my neighbor to be heard distinctly (and they weren't particularly noisy either). The breakfast needs a lot of improvement: the fruit juices were a disgrace, some watered-down substitute that had little to do with fruit. The service, although friendly, was very slow.
The outdoor eating area with a view of the lake.
We waited 40 minutes for our dinner salad. There were only 13 customers in the restaurant. Had to complain before getting any action...lots of "I'm so sorry, Madam" but not very sincere. Restaurant closed when we arrived at 2 o'clock. The desk clerk was not knowledgeable about the area. If you don't have a car do not stay there. The place needs an entire updating...worn chairs in the lobby, mold on shower curtain.
Location comfort and freindly staff
Restaurant very slow and breakfast not very hot
