the bath tub and the views
The grounds, the decor, the snooker room, breakfast was excellent.
The bed is a little uncomfortable, pillows aren't great.
The location and the ambience.
Open fire large whirl pool bath view of river from room staff very polite and helpful
Stay not long enough!
I would like to thank Alejandro Botella, Mikel Reyes and Rachel Gormley for wonderful service and friendly and efficient manner. I specifically asked for their names because I was impressed by them.
Some of food.
The location and the building is great but grossly understaffed and under maintained.
The inside of the room was poorly decorated and appointed. To have 2 old lumpy single beds pushed together is NOT a double. The breakfast was swimming in grease from the mushrooms To wait over 30 min to be served at the bar is unforgivable. nothing on booking.com or their own website to tell you there is a £56 pound for fishing with no discount for guests. plenty of other faults too but id be wasting more of my time. Look elsewhere you can get a lot more for less
Large room with lovely view. Beautiful grounds. Dinner and breakfast good and dining staff gave us lots of attention.
Large bathroom, but very sterile with very little soap etc. the reception staff were ok, but "business as usual" - not overly friendly. There was an awful smell in the hallways - it actually smelt like a dead animal. This was really gross and off putting. The interior is in great need of some TLC.
Public area is amazing, in fact beautiful. Grounds are gorgeous, very scenic.
Room very basic as was bathroom. Breakfast was lovely, but staff very blasé and couldn't be bothered to re set tables.
Inside the room, the bathroom was fine, but the rest of it needs refurbishing...
Friendly approach The snooker room The grounds The lounge
The food - some was decidedly poor The tired decor Poor wi-fi
Menu could have had a little bit more choice.
Very Very friendly, beautiful grounds and views, a classic Victorian hunting-lodge hotel, easy to find. A great snooker table.
The driveway was bumpy, how petty is that!
dogs are welcome but you get the most poor room.to expensive for what you are getting!!!!!!
Great front room with views done the lawns to the river - fabulous
Excellent location, very tranquil Would be great for fishing. Food very good
Beautiful location and a property with history and character. Increasingly rare and pleasant views all around the hotel and set well away from a busy main road. Lovely walks along the Trout and Salmon river which could be seen from my bedroom window. As a fisherman. This was a perfect location.
This is a smallish hotel and I appreciate it is also a business which requires occupied rooms. I have stayed in many hotels and without exception. There will always be the "International Door Slammer ". Yes, there was one during my stay. Poor things, they can't help it. They are defective in certain DNA and are bio-chemically programmed to slam doors, any door without compunction. Especially in the early hours and the more people they annoy the better. Indeed, a very nice stay for me but for an inconsiderate.... bleep! bleep!
Beautiful surroundings and building. The waitress at breakfast was extremely friendly and helpful especially regarding our little daughter. Excellent breakfast followed by a very pleasant walk by the river in the grounds.
Some of the staff need to cheer up. We were rudely ignored on arrival which started things on the wrong foot.
The hotel is an amazing historical location with perfect natural surroundings including trails, fishing in the river, and wonderful views of the countryside. Overall, we had a great time here and would recommend it to others.
Some of the furniture (in our room) was REALLY dated (and falling apart.) There was a strange guy feeding cattle in the adjacent field that I caught looking in the windows with a pair of binoculars... SO creepy.
loved everything. rooms good size breakfast great. The grounds & river fantastic, good walks round the river. everything perfect
It was in such a lovely setting. We loved how quirky the place was and the grandeur of the old building. The food was very good and the hotel manager was excellent.
Our bedroom wasn't well situated, a bit small and gloomy but it didn't detract from our lovely stay.
Location. Style Comfort
Minor details.Table layouts could have been smarter. Real candles, not artificial. Single room lacking a chair. Table to place case.
Every one made you welcome without being to much : views of river and walks very nice.
No problems all was fine
Good food and helpful staff
Excellent location, on the banks of the river, food great, staff wonderful. Highly recommended
The food was prepare wonderfully and the exterior grounds were lovely. The main floor was in good repair.
The bedrooms were dark and dirty. The bed in the first room they gave us sagged and when you sat on it felt like the mattress was missing. We switched rooms and the bed was much better however the carpet was soaking wet and the shower was moldy.
