When we first checked in I was a little disappointed with the accommodations as I am not normally a B&B type person. However, after being welcomed by Sandie, the proprietress, I felt like we had become part of a large, warm family. She was so helpful and did everything to make us feel at home. The location is perfect, just a block from the old city of Canterbury. The breakfast was very good and the well stocked bar on the "honor" system was delightful after a day of sightseeing. There is wifi throughout the building, including the guest rooms. We only stayed for one night but felt quite at home at the inn. I would definitely recommend the House of Agnes, but make reservations well in advance as it quickly fills, especially on weekends.
Amazing location close to all of the sights in Canterbury. We had a parking spot for our car and an in-house place to rent bikes from! The "honesty bar" was a great touch and very welcome at the end of a long day of traveling. The rooms were clean and well-outfitted. Very nice accommodations for the price. Very glad we stayed here two nights instead of just one! When we had to leave early, they had a breakfast packed and ready for us in the fridge. Ideal!
very friendly welcome and nice room overlooking church and handy for all high street amenities
Stay nowhere else but here, it's fantastic
Nothing, we enjoyed our stay very much
Vicinity, breakfast very good, atmosphere, honesty bar and we thought staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful
Excellent welcome and the owner is very helpful Lovely individual room, nice garden. Good breakfast.
Came as a group of three for one night but wished we had stayed longer! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. House of Agnes has a really good atmosphere, it's in a good location with friendly, helpful staff and lovely clean accommodation. Complimentary extras such as bath toiletries were of a high standard and carefully thought out. Would definitely return and recommend.
Great welcome and helpful staff showing us our stable room which was very comfortable. Honesty bar a great idea and made us able to relax and meet new people.
Narrow path for car into car park at rear.
Loved the garden
Tight entrance to car park
The staff were very friendly, the location was excellent, we enjoyed the experience.
The Staff, the comfort, the location, the breakfasts, the underfloor heating in the bathroom, the garden, the peace and quiet, (and we were next to the railway Stable 5), the Wi-Fi. a waiter that knew all our wishes, (as good as Grills in Cunard) the owner that could garden, could serve, could welcome and be everywhere else, comfortable beds and spotless rooms Easy parking BUT BUT BUT remember to pull in your wing mirrors when getting in-a very tight fit. Bike hires, an Honesty bar, at reasonable prices. All this rubbish but hotels are judged by their staff and this exceeds all. Don't book here We want to come again and get in!!!
No fried bread at breakfast (Joking!)
Loved the building, and the friendliness of the staff. And the little touches in the rooms made all the difference
The location is excellent, 2 minutes walking from train station (Canterbury West), 2 minutes walking from city centre. The breakfast is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was in one of the stables, big and bright. And yes, the railway line runs right in the back of the stables, but you barely notice their passage. We slept with the angels!
Loved the location, the decor, the garden.
Warm reception with tour of the hotel. comfortable room (stable room) with excellent shower. Own parking in nice garden and free wifi.
breakfast I think not really freshly cooked.
Boutique styling. Lovely rooms. great garden. Friendly helpful staff Honesty bar. Location next to west gate.
stable rooms next to railway occasional noice.
Great location Genuinely old and interesting building & gardens Free off-street parking Warm welcome Friendly and helpful staff 24hr 'honesty' bar Good breakfast
Very cramped bathroom (but inevitable in a careful conversion of a building of this age) Really odd and incongruous mixture of furniture in the breakfast room and bar.
comfortable twin room in garden mews building large enough to share with friend and not trip all over one another, heated tile floors in the bathroom!, lovely garden with plenty of outdoor seating areas and service for drinks, walking distance easily to High Street shops and sights including the Cathedral and grounds, breakfast with many hot and cold options, room coffee/tea service well stocked with multiple coffee servings, a variety of teas, cream in adequate amounts, and biscuits, beds very comfortable
We loved everything.
Location helpful and welcoming staff cleanliness comfort relaxing
Fantastic staff, location and comfort. Definitely will return.
After a warm welcome we were very pleased to find our room in a well clean condition. We spent three nights in one of these pretty stable rooms, which have been recently caring renovated. We were really sad when we had to leave, because staff and atmosphere were really terrific. The noise of the occasionally indeed close passing trains did not bother us at all. We also appreciated the 24/7 self service "honesty bar" and the rich breakfast buffet plus menu selection including English Breakfast. We certainly will come back and can really recommend this accommodation which, by the way, is actually very close to the city center.
A hidden gem in Canterbury with excellent staff and beautiful rooms. Ideal location and service. Will be staying here again !
Nice place walking distance to center of town. Staff very friendly, Nice garden area to sitting or sunbathing with deck chairs. Honesty bar available but I did not use it. Nice breakfast in the morning.
Entrance to the parking is very tight, I managed to scratch my car while driving in the first time, The entrance in on a main road and if you don't take it correct their is 2 metal posts that stick out and as my car was low scratched all along the bottom. Gutted, needless to say did not drive in again once i got my car out.
