Gables Hotel & Restaurant  

We booked room for 4 people but the room was for 3 people, broken towel rack, broken toilet seat, shower tooo powerful, breakfast with eggs and baked beans and toast, where are the sausages & bacon

a clean bed with fresh towels everyday. polite staff

no tea bags in room, small cup and not enough milk, a little thing to some but if you have been to a show thats what you look forward to when you get back to your room. It would have been nice to be told about the no traffic stopping policy on the road near the b and b because of the new runway being built nearby The workmen were outside my room until 10 pm one night.

Very convenient for NEC and Birmingham airport. Food was tasty. Staff were friendly. Room was small but nice, comfortable and had a good shower. Bed was one of the more comfortable I have had.

Rather too close to Birmingham airport if you are not expecting it.

Cheap. Would be handy for the airport. Breakfast included though we didn't sample this. Free wi-fi.

Run down establishment with poor fixtures and fittings. Stains on carpet. Thin walls, heard everything going on in the few other occupied rooms near us. Mattress has seen better days. No one to be found at checkout time, no instructions where to leave the key.

Bed was comfortable, bedding was clean, staff were friendly.

The building was lovely, although i think the owner needs to invest some money with inside and out. This hotel could have a lot to offer and make an extreme amount of money. Tables and chairs outside were dirty and hadnt been wiped down for a while.

The staff were very welcoming .I arrived early and room was available for me I was there for a gig at the LG Arena and was able to relax in my room with a cupper and TV before the event. Even though you are right next to the airport the sound didn't bother me. This is my fourth visit and will come again.

On two occasions I have stayed I have had to move kettle to plug as where it is in the room it isn't plugged in, on this visit i had to move the bed as it was either TV or cup of tea!! maybe extension cables or better room planning is needed. It was awkward but didn't spoil the visit.

Parking available, short taxi ride to the NEC.

Windows had vertical blinds rather than curtains which did not block the morning sunlight. Breakfast only served until 9am (not unreasonable, but 9:30 is a bad time to discover this)

The place smelled of old trainers and slale fag smoke. Outside our window were loads of fag ends. Everything is tired or broken. The antiquated TV is mounted at high level with cables draped down untidily which is an accident waiting to happen especially in the event of an emergency evacuation. In the garden is a tatty shed with a taxi firm operating. The whole place is tacky and undeserving of marketing on your site. We will not be back

Cost, good dinner from barbecue, very cheap own taxi, friendly staff, cheap beer and alcohol

near shop is away, bad access to bus - in way to birmingham city (need to take taxi), cannot order something to eat from restaurant until 6 p.m.

Very cheap, very clean, excellent location for Birmingham International Airport, train station & NEC. Nice to have a garden, bar & restaurant.

The room is very small & due to the main road & airport it is a bit noisy but neither of these things were a problem to me & I slept very well.

Was very dirty. Springs coming through the bed. The breakfast facility very poor, the cereal containers were dirty. Just toast, beans and egg offered as cooked breakfast. Would never stay again.

Location was great, opposite the airport and a short distance in a taxi to the nec. Room was nic,clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and effiecient.

I liked the heating, and how i was always warm. i also liked that I had an included continental breakfast, which was delicious

Location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the lg Arena on the nec site where I was watching a concert. Room was clean and suitable for my needs.

Breakfast was quite basic but otherwise ok. Had a problem getting into the hotel late as the staff hadn't given clear direction as to which door the key I had was for. Sorted by a phone call to a helpful manager who I had to wake (sorry for that).

Indian restaurant looked really good, friendly staff. Very nice dining room and breakfast was more than adequate, better than the average continental breakfasts you get. Staff are very helpful, with anything.

Not a critiscm, just observation that management can act upon. Attention to detail with the room. Door knobs that are loose and diffcult to open. T.v takes ages to get a signal. Just enough room to walk around the bed, barely.In other words the room is too small for a double bed.Shower fitments need improving/replacing, bathroom door is difficult to open as it drags on the carpet floor. Stains on the bathroom floor. Sounds like I am being picky, but it would not take more than an afternoon to correct, then it would be just so much better.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Situation of the hotel was perfect as was close to the airport and the National Exhibition Centre (nec)

The bed was dreadful. A cheap, old thing (could've been at least 15 years old) I assume it was a childs bed as my feet hung over the end of it - I'm only 5'9". With every move it creaked and the headboard banged against the wall. Paint on the mattress and the bed cover could've previously been used as a dust sheet and make-up remover. The mattress through excessive wear was lumpy, you could feel every spring. The fabric on it had bobbled and this you could feel through the single sheet that covered it so it felt rough. The pillow provided was a basic and thing and also gave no comfort. Walls of the hotel were plaster board with no insulation so you literally heard everything in the hotel (including guests in next room and their bodily functions) I didn't sleep at all - not drift in and out of sleep and be awoken by noise, I literally didn't sleep a wink all night because of the combination of noise through the night along with the terrible discomfort of the bed. I didn't say anything at the time as I'd only paid £50 and I'm a typical Brit. I'm also not the sort to go straight onto Tripadvisor and slag off. I did however take photos at the time so family and friends could understand why I was so appalled by stay in room No 10.

Everything. Noisy. No bedside light. TV didn't work. Kettle didn't work. No hot water. Service grumpy.

Close to the nec

Uncomfortable bed, poor greeting on arrival, limited choice of menu, only Indian food,noisy, broken shower fittings, very limited hot water. Overall would not stay there from choice.

Hotel was quiet and the food was good as it is also an Indian restraunt it was very good value and less than 3 mins from nec And airport

Although the room was fairly clean the overall look was a little old and grubby like clean sheets but with marks on them. When I left in the morning no breakfast was offered or looked available
