There were some really lovely parts of Ilfracombe and some not so nice , like most towns . Most of the architecture is stunning with old and new together but some new don't fit in. The scenery on the coast is amazing with lots of craggy coves and you can walk along the South West Coast Path . There is a small harbour where a stunning Damien Hirst statue is of Verity ,Statue of Justice if I remember correctly Parts of Ilfracombe are quite steep but there are slopes and some roads on the flat. We ate Sunday lunch at the Thatched Inn , had Breakfast at the Lime Kiln Cafe down by a cove . We loved it.

Lovely rugged coastline all still very natural.
Lovely rugged coastline all still very natural. The town however was a little disappointing in terms of felt a bit run down and lacking in investment in some areas. Worth a visit altho not too long as I think more useful to use as a base to travel than a holiday in as wasn’t enough to offer.

As we were attending a wedding it was a good location for us but probably not the right time of year for shopping etc as most of the shops were empty or closed down. I'm sure its much better in the summer!

Very friendly with some good pubs and restaurants.
Very friendly with some good pubs and restaurants. The aquarium is nice to visit as is Tunnels Beach. I recommend finding somewhere close to the coast to stay because the gradient rises sharply as one heads inland, which could make walking difficult for some.

It is a larger resort than expected with plenty of shops, facilities and attractions. We visited the Tunnels and Beaches, the Museum the Aquarium and the Theatre and they were all good.
We also enjoyed evening meals at a number of restaurants.
The property is close to the centre of Ilfracombe and to the tunnels beaches, a prominent Ilfracombe landmark. The proprietor Michael is very welcoming, efficient and responsive to any issues - we had to leave one day early and he was very understanding and refunded us without hesitation. An excellent breakfast is supplied, beautifully cooked. A few days ago, in October, parking on the hotel premises was perfect. The room was very clean and tidy with a well presented, and spotless, ensuite, shower, and bath.
The breakfast was exceptional. My husband is vegetarian and was very happy to be offered vegetarian sausages (apart from the usual eggs, mushrooms etc). Besides the freshly cooked breakfast, Cairn house also have the cereal, fruit and yoghurts available.
We're so grateful to have been upgraded to a better room that had a beautiful bay window overlooking the front of the house, with views of ilfracombe and distant sea views. The room was very spacious and obviously comfortable, as well as the bathroom.
The location is excellent, with stunning views of the harbour from 1 bedroom and direct views of the church in the other. It is very central to everything you want to visit in Ilfracombe.
The main lounge was nicely decorated and enjoyable enough for a conversation in the evening, but rather small for dining.
There were some lovely lamps in all rooms.
The host was lovely and communicative.
This little hotel is in the perfect position as it's a 10minuties walk to town but also just next to the start of the coastal path, a stunning one! There is parking outside and a little terrace with view in which you can sip a drink from the honesty bar at sunset. The owner is lovely and has a lot of tips for places to visit or where to eat. Higly recommended for a stay in Ilfracombe!
One of the few positives of The Symphony Ilfracombe is it's location; the hotel is on the seafront promenade, overlooking a small beach and was perfect walking distance to restaurants and bars in the town. Some of the younger staff were friendly, greeting us when we came in and helping us with parking information. The price of the hotel was also satisfactory.
Great location for visiting Ilfracombe and north devon in general. Heather was a lovely host welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable clean and tidy. The ensuite had a good shower and was a decent size. Parking was limited but free on the drive way. Really liked the garden area which offered an alternative to sitting in our room.
everything was fantastic. the owners are very thoughtful, the room had an amazing sea view with large windows, the room was very clean and nothing was missing. breakfast was perfect, service is great. really, it was perfect. we found the perfect place to stay in North Devon. highly recommend.
Friendly, professional and helpful staff throughout (reception desk, breakfast team and cleaning team).
Assisted us with parking, directions and local attraction, calling a taxi.....nothing was too much trouble.
Some great evenings in the hotel bar (Nick is the perfect host).
