Good van connection to and from Gatwick Airport. Quiet. Booking.com indicated check-out 10 to 11 a.m. Hotel said 10 a.m. Even 11 a.m. is sometimes too early. Night clerk said staying beyond 10 a.m. would cost 5 pounds more. |

Location with easy walking to village for restaurants, pubs, shopping, lovely residental area with little traffic. Lodge personnel were accommodating and cheerful (in spite of 20 people in group arriving all at once & with different likes, dislikes)! Communal room, good sofa/T.V. No elevator and difficult carrying bags up 3 flights of stairs especially for those with leg problems, altho' staff assisted with bags for them (even tho' it was stated you were to carry your own bags). We were only there one night and didn't have time to use all the facilities, e.g. breakfast room. |

Very helpful staff: when I arrived with a huge suitcase, my room was changed from 2nd floor to ground floor, without me asking. Room had an odd smell, due to a drain outside, near the window |

The staff went to extra lengths to accommodate even though I made an error when booking. Close to airport allowing sleep before early flight. The plumbing in my room was noisy. |

Classification list omits "Airport Hotel" Gainsborough Lodge is ideal for people who are flying early or arriving late at Gatwick Airport. Fast, free (after 09:00) Gatwick Airport transfers, cheap parking, friendly and helpful staff. Indian restaurant 3 minutes stroll from hotel is excellent. Larger, brighter sign would be helpful - I missed it twice. Otherwise no complaints at all. |

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakast was perfect. Transfer service between Gatwick airport and hotel were effortless room was a bit shabby, but it was clean and inviting. A full redecoration programme of guest house is ongoing at present so that will improve. |
