It is close to Gatwick Airport, it is economical, clean & friendly. Only the fact that the building is getting a bit tired & is in need of renovation. One can only run these places for a certain amount of time before carrying out serious maintenance & decoration.

We were delayed and arrived very late at night. There was a button to ring for late night arrivals, but someone answered and seemed still asleep, and then didn't answer again. We kept ringing and waited outside (in the cold!) for at least half an hour. Eventually someone came down to leave for the airport for an early morning flight, so we managed to get inside and find our key waiting for us on the counter. They were also a little pushy about check out time (which is 10, a little early). Most hotels don't bother you if you are 10-15 minutes late to come down, but they called several times and told us there were other customers waiting to check in.

This was my third time staying overninght at Gainsborough Lodge for the purpose of getting to Gatwick Airport early the next morning. My room was clean, tidy and basic ...just what I required. Nice comfy bed too, with an extra blanket and pillow in the cupboard if required. Staff were welcoming and polite. A hairdryer would have been appreciated. I was informed there was a television in every room. I had one but unfortunately it didn't work ... just got "snow" on all channels. Luckily I had brought a book to read! I advise guests to use earlpugs at night, otherwise you will hear other guests in the adjoining rooms snoring very loudly!

There was a taxi to the airport which was good and the staff were friendly. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on in a hotel.

Accommodation perfectly adequate for sole traveller for one night. To be charged £3 for parking the car at the hotel is outrageous! It's obvious people will be arriving by car frequently and to charge that as a 10% extra to the headline cost which is used on websites for comparison with other hotels is unfair trading.

The free transfer from Gatwick airport and return was very useful and reliable. The owner was extremely polte and helpful.the breakfast was served in a light and airy conservatory and was efficiently served and well cooked.. No grease in sight! The decor is tired in the room we were in and bathroom needed refreshing although the bath and taps looked quite new.. The tiles need redoing. The room furniture was also a little shabby but it is not a 4* hotel and was only for one night so acceptable. Wifi only available in the lounge by reception and very bad mobile phone signal... This is location not the hotel's fault

We received a very warm welcome upon arrival and shown to our room which was totally adequate for the purpose of our stay, (early flight from Gatwick). The room was of average size, warm, cosy and extremely clean. Located close to the town so we found it easy to find bars and restaurants nearby. Early morning call was on the button and the English breakfast although quite small (at the price you pay) it was well cooked and you had self service coffee, cereal, juices, toast and jams. Only 5 Mins drive in rush hour from Gatwick I would definitely recommend it and will stay again when flying from Gatwick Only suggestion would be to offer a larger English breakfast at an increased price although what was served was, as I said above, adequate, I enjoy a cooked breakfast so an option of a larger one would save someone like us going to Gatwick and buying food at a ridiculous prices in the terminal and not cooked anywhere near the standard as at the Gainsborough

1. Located just 5minutes from Horley train station. 2. Free Wifi 3. Beds were comfortable 4. Enough space in rooms 1. Bit expensive when compared to better hotels. 2. Does not allow eating or smoking in rooms. A fine of £50 applies. Smoking is not allowed for obvious reasons, but cannot eat in rooms does not make a sense at all.

The hotel staff was very kind and helpful! The location of the hotel was just excellent. There's a railway station just 5 minutes away. People can easily and quickly get to London. There are also lots of restaurants (Indian, Chinese, etc), supermarkets, etc. Next time I'll take this hotel again!

I liked the proximity to town and the airport. I mainly stayed here so I could be ready for a flight in the morning. They provided a shuttle service so it was very convenient. Although a very comfortable room, the heater was cranking all night and I was sweating in my room. Even though I opened a window it was no use. It was too late to contact the staff. They also claim to accept American Express and that is a lie.

I liked the fact that the Lodge is so well positioned for accessing Gatwick Airport and that outside of hours when the free transfers aren't running, the staff will arrange taxi pick ups and drop offs and as I was a mature female travelling on my own, the staff made me feel very safe and welcome. I have stayed at the Lodge on one previous occasion and after my second stay was also faultless, I would definitely stay there again.
