Located within a 10-minute walk of the London Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal, this modern hotel offers king size beds and stylish bedrooms complete with satellite TV and individual air conditioning....
Score from 1694 reviews Good
Clean bedroom and bathroom. Useful and prompt airport transfer for a fair price.
No (or weak) wifi in the room. The hotel receptionist was quite indifferent/dismissive when I checked in at 10pm.
Tidy warm room, good shuttle service
No wifi in the room had to go down to communal area giving it a hostel feel. Phone in my room not working and Housekeeping came in without knocking what if I had been naked?? Came in at 930 while I was finishing up my packing to rudely inform me checkout was at 10
The convenience for flying from Gatwick and reasonable cost of transfer
floorboards in upstairs room Very very noisey.
nice and warm bedroom on a cold night
toilet was very tight space
Staff. Food. Closeness to airport. Transfer organisation.
Cleanliness of bed room be spite age.
Breakfast room not as clean messey. Staircases could do with paintings
Positives from this place has one, location. It is close proximity to Gatwick parking terminals is ideal, bar that it all goes down hill
When we arrived we were not given a comfortable reception, rather a simple, "pay £4 for parking". We were shown to the second floor and at first the room seemed acceptable until you pay close attention and it becomes clear that the sheets you're sleeping in are not clean. The worst though is the lack of sleep. For what ever reason it seems they have the loudest floor boards ever created. We did not get an ounce of sleep all night because the creaking of the floor boards was insanely loud. I am never one to give bad reviews unless it is justly deserved however even for £41 a night, my advice is avoid. We both were almost about to go and sleep in our car.
the staff attitude was nothing to write home about I had to find my room myself I had to remind them I had paid for cooked breakfast before they made the breakfast even though I was rushing to catch a flight at Gatwick airport
I liked the way this hotel was near Gatwick airport which was what I wanted. They had a good minibus service laid on at 5 am too.
Very basic looking rooms and lots of off putting posters on walls saying rules of rooms.
clean and simple
location and friendliness of the receptionist
Location is great for those flying in and out of Gatwick. Only about a ten minute cab ride, which is about the same price as taking a less convenient shuttle. We paid 9 pounds from the airport. By booking a return cab at the local cabstand about 2 blocks away from the Gainsborough, the ride back was only 5 pounds. Go figure. Anyway the Lodge is an easy few minutes walk into the town of Horley which has enough facilities to make a stay there entertaining. The Forester Pub has good food at good prices. Our room at the lodge had a recently redone bathroom - which was very nice compared to the last time we were there.
Breakfast is adequate, but nothing to write home about and is served in a very narrow window of time quite early. An extra even 1/2 hour later would be nice as an option.
They were in the middle of a renovation programme so perhaps unfair to comment until it is finished. But looked like a works canteen
Quiet and comfortable
Great location , not far from centre. Bfast small but enough and good rate. Clean rooms and friendly staff
Great value, bed was comfortable, room small, but only wanted to sleep. Shower worked, transfer to airport arranged for me and on time. Plenty of choice in Horley for food which I brought back to B&B
near by airport, cheep and good enough for short stay. We even found Chinese restaurant near by, food is also good and cheep. The stuff is nice, the driving service to airport is very convenience
bathroom is small but okay
Simple, everything you need, good location.
There were signs in the room saying you were not allowed to eat in there, risking a 50 pound fine.
Very comfortable, quiet, warm and clean converted villa in a lovely leafy suburb. Despite the location right by Gatwick Airport I only noticed minor plane noise, and that was with the window open. If you don't have heavy luggage, the train station (3 minute ride to Gatwick) is only 6-7 mins' walk away, and a number of restaurants and take-away shops are 3-4 minutes' walk away.
No (free) WiFi in bedrooms, and not being allowed to eat in room made it feel a bit like a youth hostel - however, eating is allowed in the lounge.
Waited too long for transport from airport to hotel
Low price, reasonable room
The room was small but clean and comfortable. They accommodated our rather late arrival (after 10:30 p.m.) and put up with our needing electrical adaptors to recharge our American phones on the British outlet. But the English breakfast was the best and most pleasant surprise: eggs to order, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and toast, plus coffee or tea and cold cereal. It's location to Horley train station is an added plus.
Although they offer a shuttle service from Gatwick airport (for £6), it took more than 30 minutes for the driver to pick us up at for the five-minute ride. That being said, once we settled in, all was great.
Perfectly placed for Gatwick airport stop-overs of one or two nights. Very good value. Excelent Breakfast Room had good facilities, TV , Tea/coffee, good shower, plenty of mains power outlets (for charging tablets and phones), good lighting, coat hangers and mirrors. Overall, B&B plus transport to Airport from the front door all for under £50. Great!
Room was small but ok for a solo traveller. No Wifi or internet of any type (a disadvantage for foreign travellers). The small sink in my room only had cold water which was ok for filling kettle and brushing teeth but not for washing.
Clean and convenient, good arranging taxi to airport
