“The cleanliness of the hotel is good. The location is perfect, so near to National History Museum. Behind the hotel is a perfect corner with different Restaurants to dine. The staff members are ready to help any time.”

The Gainsborough feels like an English country home in London. It is close to London's museums, the Albert Hall, Harrods and the restaurants and shops of Chelsea and Knightsbridge. The Gainsborough is a converted Victorian house with a classic style and an informal atmosphere. It is named after the celebrated artist, whose portrait of the Duchess of Richmond is in the spacious lounge/reception. The hotel is a short walk from the Natural History Museum and South Kensington Tube (subway) station, which has a direct service to London Heathrow Airport. Close by are the exhibition centers of Earls Court and Olympia. Hotel Rooms: 49 Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 13:30 from Italy.

Courtesy of restaurant staff. Breakfast. The hotel is in an excellent location and enjoys the advantage of a beautiful building. It enjoys the services of good culinary staff. Otherwise, there is little about this hotel which suggests insight into the needs of those guests who seek a four-star hotel. The lack of monitoring and oversight leads to basic and embarrassing inadequacies in the service given to guests; the management of cheaper and less fortunately-situated hotels in which I have stayed across Europe and Africa have shown far more acumen, care and skill in service delivery. I have paid half as much for service four times as good. I have already begun to advise business associates, professional colleagues and friends to avoid The Gainsborough!

Excellent 4* in a central location, with friendly staff and a lovely breakfast. We were lucky, having booked a room for £79.00 per night we were upgraded on arrival to one of the hotels executive suits that were generally about £400 per night!

it's a good location, close to the metro. The room was big. You can leave your luggage before you can check in and after check out to. The staff was friendly. It wasn't 4 stars worth

Hotel quiet, comfortable and in great location. I was rather disappointed that the single room was so extremely small--undoubtedly the smallest hotel room I have experienced.

Good location, 5 min walk from South Ken Underground and lots of bars and restaurants round the corner. The rooms at the front have the original single glazed sash windows which may as well not be there! very noisy.

Great location near Royal Albert Hall. Nice environment. Clean. Hairdryer in the room and little touches like an emergency sewing kit, and little shampoo bottles etc. I had to wait 15 minutes for my room to be ready, despite it being after check-in time when I arrived. Could do with some updating and decoration. Air conditioning unit in the room only blew cold air. TV remote only worked sporadically. Room was very small (single room) but adequate for one person.

Excellent location, located within just a few steps of some of London's best museums. Also within walking distance to Harrod's and other great shopping. A large selection of restaurants and pubs just around the corner. Very near South Kensington Underground Station. Our room was clean albeit a little tired. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Great price for the location. .The rooms were a little dated and tired but were very clean. Can't complain for the price paid.

Perfect combination of period style and genteel charm. The overall feeling we had was of being welcomed and made to feel at home. From our room on the 3rd floor there was surprisingly little traffic noise, considering the very central location. It's position, 2 minutes' walk from the Nat Hist Mus, the v&a, the Science Museum and the eclectic mix of cafes, bars and restaurants of South Kensington, make the Gainsborough an absolute gem of a hotel.

We have stayed twice at the Gainsborough and really find the location excellent. We were attending th Palce for an Investiture and wanted a couple of days to visit the Victoria and Albert and the National history museum, and we included shopping as Harrods and Harvey Nicks are just a short walk away. The staff are friendly and helpfull. Our 3 girls shared the 3 bedded room and found it comfortable and not too small. We had the double deluxe and although not big, quite ample for us. We would stay again. The breckfast is expensive.

Staff were friendly and welcoming and the proximity of the hotel to attractions was ideal. Ok value for that part of London. Dated room, very basic and small, thin walls and poor sound proofing.

I liked nothing about this hotel. On arrival i discovered 4 ladies complaining to the receptionist. They all advised me not to stay there. Wish I had listened. Room was small, bathroom was tiny. My floor appeared to be full of chines people who all congregated in the room next to me until 0300. Plenty of slamming of doors. Sheets on the bed had holes in them.
