The Royal Hotel sits majestically on the banks of the River Dee in the heart of central Llangollen and is one of the landmarks that has come to define this stunning Welsh town.
Score from 311 reviews Good
The hotel is in central Llangollen, looking out over the Dee River. It mixes original character with modern comforts, including free Wi-Fi, free parking and a riverside garden.
Score from 335 reviews Good
This historically listed former coaching house has a large, secure free car park, free Wi-Fi, and an on-site beauty salon. It is in the centre of the picturesque town of Llangollen, in the Dee Valley....
Score from 85 reviews Good
In rural North Wales, Bryn Howel has magnificent views out over the Vale of Llangollen. With free parking and free Wi-Fi, the hotel offers cooked breakfasts and free spa passes.
Score from 411 reviews Very good
It was clean ,comfortable, and good value for money great location
a large room with large old fireplace and old wordley charm.
could do with new windows in room no 8.
Super location, excellent wine bar and restaurant. Small but very adequate menu, very interesting and good value wine list.
We loved the cosiness of the room & the bed was very comfortable. We also liked the fact it felt quiet despite being busy.
The one small negative was that the bathroom door didn't shut properly. That really was the only issue.
Staff were very friendly, room was nice with a lounge, so home from home.
Everything. Thank you.
Room was a lovely size and very quiet. Nice touch of leaving complimentary port. Wine bar on site was cosy and relaxing.
Very welcoming establishment would definitely recommend Gales , nice location on a quite street , free parking and excellent food and wine
The room was large with a comfy double bed also the traditional cooked breakfast was very good plenty of toast and jam
We did not like having to go outside across the car park to get to the dining area
very quaint property. Owners were really nice and very helpful.
Small nigles that did not spoil our stay ; soap containrs in bathroom empty and no mirror in bathroom.
Staff were friendly and helpful but didn't interfere too much so you could enjoy yourself, rooms were clean and practical and seconds away from the centre of Llan.
Being over 6ft created problems with the length of the bed and low doorways, but nothing a tall person wouldn't expect in a building of this age, did not deminish the trip.
Central location Complimentary port in room
Limited parking spaces with difficult access (my BMW 320 only just fitted though the entrance and then there were no spaces). The breakfast included in the price was a very poor continental breakfast with no croissants or bread rolls. The manager at breakfast time was rude to several guests including ourselves after we didn't order a cooked breakfast (£7.95 extra each). Very hard bed (room 14). Thin walls.
Friendly staff. Lovely spacious room and a comfortable bed. Location is right in the town. Breakfast offered was fine. We did not have dinner here but the restaurant looked to have a decent evening and lunch menu. It would be easy to miss this as a hotel from outside but through the gateway there is a decent parking area and the entrance to the hotel behind the shop. Llangollen is close to many local sights and scenery and there are several bars, restaurants or hotels within easy walking distance. Recommended. Would book this hotel again.
Friendly staff and surroundings, excellent food and wine. Good value for money
Could be improved by having draught real ales, bottles ok but not ideal
A fantastic venue we would recommend to anyone. Did not stay long enough.
General welcoming ambience
False fire alarm going off at 6.30am without any apology / explanation afterwards!
Thought the staff were great and the food wast fantastic, stayed a few times and will keep going back, it really is a great place.
Could have done with an extra pillow in the bedroom, but feel foolish even putting that, it was great all round.
Comfortable stay and staff very friendly
Having to pay extra £7.95 for a cooked breakfast. This was the option if you did nor want continental.. cereal, toast, ham and fruit!
We arranged this trip for a celebration. We arrived on a Sunday evening, looking forward to an evening meal in the restaurant, to be told by Richard the owner that the restaurant does not open on Sundays. We discussed our options then he said "come and join us at my house we're having a party, you'd be more than welcome". We were taken to the party and enjoyed a most wonderful evening with friends of Richard. We won't forget that evening!
Just about everything. Not your usual hotel but the rooms were homely. Food at breakfast and dinner was very good. Staff were most pleasant and helpful. Wine was unsurprisingly excellent and inexpensive.
Hotel was busy so parking was a bit of a lottery.
Very old building, with all the quirky features that goes with that..unlevel floor tilting cupboard low ceilings etc! bed very comfy and host really nice helpful bloke nothing too much trouble.
I thought I booked with a full English option was only given the continental but that may have been my error when booking. Has car parking but meant double parking with other guests and leaving keys etc...not a problem just caused my boyfriend a little anxiety re his car getting knocked etc.
Very accommodating. As I was traveling with my mother (and neither of us young), I appreciated that at check in, they immediately volunteered some help getting our luggage up the stairs. The room was huge! And very comfortable. I enjoyed sitting in a stuffed chair reading while my Mom was resting on a couple of occasions. There were plenty of towels. On arrival there four sets for the two of us and we found other sets in the drawers. Every day we would find four new sets. It provided a lot of amusement. Loved the older building, clearly has been a coach house with rooms for centuries! Lots of history, yet the plumbing is well updated!!! Great location! We were traveling on public transport and very easily walked (with luggage!) over from the bus stop! Was also central for exploring Llangollen. :-)
The bed I had is ready to be replaced (room 5 I think). At least since I was one person in a full sized bed, I could find a comfortable corner and then slept fine despite early misgivings. (My mom's full sized bed did look brand new and she was very very comfortable). The other furniture is very pretty but not very functional. Closet door sticks, drawers don't slide. Wasn't a big deal for us but could be for others.
Lovely location and comfortable accomodation.
Breakfast wasn't the best I have had. Cold beans didn't go down well.
Everything was perfect, a friendly welcome, beautiful , comfortable rooms, complimentary carafe of port, and a bistro with fabulous food just down the stairs. Beds were very comfortable and luxurious.
We liked everything.
