    The Spa area, Gillies restaurant.

    Lot of building work going on, noise leve very high, spoiled tranquility of some areas within the Spa.

    Everything, the staff made it an absolute pleasure to be there, the spa was incredible and the food was Magnificant.

    The waiting at gillies over dinner, they placed us on a table that looked like they had just put there as It was on a walkway. They also were very rude and sloppy when it came to bringing out our courses, for each course we had been finished for around 20 minutes before I'd have to ask a waitor myself can I order.

    Accomodation, food & spa

    11 am check out - a lot of additional cost ie £10 per tray for room service - additional charge for late check out. due to early check out - additional charge to use the spa £15 per person (which was discounted as it should be have been £30 per person per hour!)- if check out had been 12 option to use spa 11-12. Italian restaurant closed.

    Excellent River Room Restaurant, with either the 5 or 7 course sampler menu. All courses were excellently prepared and presented. If I have a niggle it would be that all the courses tended towards the sweet side of the palate. My Wife and I do like spicy / very spicy food and would therefore struggle to repeatedly eat this menu.

    Primarily the Bedding, with the bottom sheet barely covering the base hence no tuck in at the top, tired hollow filled pillows... even a wash and tumble dry would fluff them up a bit... Also noted spot light directly out above the sink. Out on arrival and still out on departure! A broken bathroom extractor fan thus after every shower a room full of steam. Should I really have to phone up and report this sort of thing????? Finally a badly cracked marble surface top above the mini bar. Even filler would prevent further damage and pass at a glance.

    Spa, live band and breakfast.safeguard very helpful and pleasant.

    Room was very dark and heat was on alot it was a very mild w end our dinner in Gillies was not the best chicken very dry!!!!

    My husband an I had the full body hot stones treatment, it was so relaxing and we really enjoyed it. We then dined in Gilly's Bar and had a lovely meal and enjoyed the music an atmosphere afterwards. We rose early the next morning to make use of the spa and pool. We had a brilliant stay and really enjoyed being pampered by the staff who made us feel so welcome. My husband felt very apprehensive about going but loved it and would and we will definitely stay again.

    My wife and I loved the spa it was lovely. We enjoyed the Gillies the food was great. The countryside was beautiful, we enjoyed walking round the grounds and the river was great, I would loved to have fished here.

    I booked my wife a manicure and she was told because it was 50 pounds she could have an other treatment as well They asked her if she would like a head and face massage or a foot and leg massage she those the foot massage and was told she would be given a glass of champagne while there as they were going to spoil her. Sadly when my wife came back to our room she was so disappointed the girl did her nails and afterwards took her to a room asked her if she wanted a coffee then went and brought her a sorbet and left her in the room saying have a nice stay. She sat for ten minutes waiting on her next treatment the foot massage but no one came so she went to the desk to ask what happens next as she had waited so long, only to be told sorry I though the time was to be spent on your nails and arms. It seems some were along the line someone got it mixed up which can happen but she was so looking forward to the foot massage and the champagne and feeling special it was a big let down to her. But all in all we had a lovely time.

    I enjoyed the whole experience from driving up to the hotel to booking out. All the staff were very helpful and informative.

    Minor point but the car park is a fair distance away from the reception area. I have reduced mobility and although hotel staff would have been only too keen to help I prefer to take my bags etc to the car myself. There was however no problem in bringing the car to the front of the hotel to load the cases into the boot.
